I had measured the rim unlaced, which is rather stupid and thus making this thread a bit obsolete. After lacing, the rim ended up just fine, except for a 2mm downward flatspot over 2 adjacent spokes, probably caused by the previous owner and not really mendable. This isn't really a big issue for a rear trials wheel anyway.

A couple of years ago I bought 2 used planet X BMF, which are rebadged Alex DX32 rims, from a friend for £15. As my current try all rim is a bit worn, I wanted to lace one of those planet X rims onto my rear hub. I randomly took one and noticed it had a rather large difference in spoke tension at the seam-valve hole, compared to the perpendicular direction. I took a folding ruler and measured the difference, the diametre at the seam-valve hole was 5mm larger than in the perpendicular direction to that. When measuring the other rim, there was only a 1mm difference in any direction. I tried sitting on the first one, but it didn't give in anything. Have you guys ever had this problem too and how did you fix it? Thanks.

It's nice but it'd be awesome if you'd get a HD camera and shoot your videos in 16/9 aspect ratio. Also I'd prefer you lose the fisheye and get a regular wide-angle lens. Great riding nonetheless. Keep those videos coming.

Rear cassette, I like to finetune my rear cog's position. You just need to get a widebase cog to not destroy your cassette body.

Unscrew the crankbolts and start riding your bike, the cranks will fall off after a short while. If that doesn't work, take it to a bikeshop, do NOT hammer on your cranks. When you're at the bikeshop, buy a crank puller, they cost 10£ tops unless you go park tool or pedros which is nice to have but maybe not suitable for your wallet. If you don't feel like working on your bike yourself, have it done by the lbs people.

Unlike with mtb cranks, trials cranks have identical arms left and right. My try all cranks have identical arms. The only difference is the different pedal thread and the machined thread for the freewheel on the right cranks, but you can see that both arms came out of the same mold. Only the wire tapping is different.

You are all wrong. Braking with normal disc mounts causes the hub to come out of the dropout due to the reaction force on the braking. Try it yourself if you use a front disc. Tighten the QR very mildly, or let it completely loose. Ride along at a very slow pace to avoid crashing and pull your front brake. Your axle will come out of the dropout at the disc side and your tire will rub your fork. With the new pashley forks the disc mount is on the front of the fork leg. It doesn't matter what side it's on, but the right side makes it work with normal calipres. When you brake now, the axle will be forced upward in the dropout due to the reaction force from the disc brake. If you do the test again with the loose QR, you will notice that your wheel barely moves at all when pulling the front brake. This is also why a lot of mountain bike forks have 20mm or 15mm through axles. To avoid wheel wobble from heavy braking actions at high speed.

All right then Bottom line is that you have different interfaces for different cranks. You need a Euro BB if you want to run BMX cranks on your trials bike. The BB often comes with the crank, if not, make sure you've got matching axle size and inner diameter size of your BB bearings (19, 20 or 22mm depending on the brand of bmx cranks you have). Mtb cranks generally have 4-bolt, 5-bolt CD or 5 bolt ATB chainring interfaces. For trials you need either a 4 bolt or 5 bolt CD cranks, 5 bolt ATB is almost only used in DH to properly run 46-50t chainrings. BMX cranks have 1 bolt chainring interfaces, the chainring itself also rests on the axle. You can only run as little as 25t.
