i have 150 at the moment, however should have about 350 in about a weeks time, so i was trying to decide between an iphone 3g or a trials bike.

i really like that bike, though i have been told that vee brakes are really bad, what do you guys think/recommend?

Trials bike all the way, then get the I-phone on contract.

That way you get the bet of both worlds.

Oh and Vee brakes are not sufficient, they may be ok at first but you will quickly want magura's or disks.

As a first bike, you should probably go for something strong and durable, such as an Onza Pro, Onza Blade. There's not much point in buying a good bike first, because you'll be throwing it around learning the basics and its just going to break. As for the Rip... I would advise against one as they have 20" rear wheel, and not a 19" with a fat Tyre. And, as far as I know, you cannot replace the 20" wheel with a 19".

So, my advise would be to get a Pro or Blade, then just upgrade the parts/ brakes as you get better and there you have a high spec decent bike :)

Hope this has helped in your choice :)

PS: keep an eye out on Ebay and on the "For Sale" section of the forum. If you are patient and check regularly, you will pick up a bargain :)

Hey mate, if you can get £350 then that's perfect as the Onza Bird (Like I have ;)) on Tartybikes costs £360.

I think it is well worth the money, it comes with a 19" rear wheel and front disc brake which is actually working great for me atm.

They also look quite nice in black, and come with nice fat Maxxis Creepy crawlers.

ive seen that blade on ebay, only 300 + 10 for delivery, so i think i will get that.

i was only going to get the iphone really to show off, though i recon learning tricks on the trials bike will be alot better. so do you think that onzo blade will last long?

like the idea of the disk brake though its only on the front, and am i wrong in thinking that i need more stopping power on the rear wheel for getting up on the back wheel

The V brake that comes with the Onza Bird works perfectly good enough for anyone to be able to backhop.

reading through this, a rear v is fine when your learning just make sure its set up right to start with. A well maintained/decent v brake set up is equal to that of a hs33(hydrolic rim brake)

as for it only having a disk on the front if you look at most stocks ( 26 inch wheel ) they tend to have a disk front and rim break rear.

Nothing wrong with vees, mine has better bite and hold than any magura i've used.

All depends on the set up!
