What Will I Need Ito Change To Get The Free Wheel At The Front Not The

Recommended Posts

Parts required:

Cranks (probably a pair)

BMX type screw-on freewheel (don't go for those 'silent' ones, they're cack)

Fixed rear hub (probably new spokes too depending on hub flange sizes)

Rear screw-on sprocket

Can of worms

Chain (your old one may slip on new sprockets)

It's not simple. As far as I know you'll need new cranks with the threaded section necessary to screw on a new BMX type freewheel. Then you'll need a new fixed rear hub so you can screw on a new rear sprocket. You'll probably find that you'll need a new chain too.

Mind you, it's been a while since I had a front freewheel set up. Maybe there are some new fangled parts that would make conversion easier these days?
