Heya guys, as many of the people from Reading know I'm in dire need of a helicoil.

I've had a look on eBay for some M4 coil kits but there's too much choice, can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers

if its for your 4 bolt mounts (which a lot of people need its a m5)

take it to a engineer/mechanic, whoevers got one and get it sorted mate.

4 bolt mounts at M4 so shouldnt this be the kit to use as it puts a new thread it not tap it up to an M5.

Whats a tap and dye set? ;)

4 bolt mounts are m5, i made the mistake of bying a m4 kit and my bolt would fit in it

a tap cuts the thread into your frame

a dye cuts a thread onto a piece of bar(threaded bar)

whats a heicoil!? :S

So basically a Tap and Dye kit makes the hole bigger and makes bolts? I'd rather have M4 than M5 to be honest, makes setting up more annoying 'cos different alan keys

its like a spring, these are much stronger than the standard mounts due to them being stainless steel.

all kits have instructions on how to install

You just described a helicoil kit? :P I know how these work, just confused what a tap and dye kit was.

Back to my main issue, what kit to buy?

the standard bolt of a hs33: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...category_id=522

you still use the standard bolt

Ah ok my bad, sorry about earlier. I just assumed 4mm alan key = M4 bolt :P

Now I still need a kit suggestion, they all look the same on ebay to be honest so I might aswell just buy the cheapest.

For anyone who has done helicoiling before is this alright?

Cheers, just ordered it. This means i'll have to strip the frame down so I can get it perfectly sqauare, might aswell try and clean the frame up a bit when I do that as its lookin a lil scuffed atm.

What time did you leave reading today?
