Chain Tension

I'm sure its been brought up before but I couldnt find it in the archives.

Is there an apporximate limit to the tensio you should run a chain....

its a KMC Kool running single speed being pushed down by a modified mech.

I worked the force out at roughly 850N pushing down on the chain ( haha would say how but ive lost my notebook )

so yeh the chain has an easy bit of give if you push it with yur finger but no play if you were to drop the bike on the floor ??

any advice?

well, i dont know any figures, but my guess is, just have it so that when you press the chain in between the front and rear sprockets, it should be firm but not super hard to do, sorry i cant really explain it any better, thats my method anyway.

That sounds rather high :turned:

850N of force is about the same as you standing on it... I wouldnt have thought your tensioner is quite that powerful?!

Either way, theres no real limit, its not as if youre gonna be able to create as much tensiuon with your tensioner as you are when gapping etc...
