Hs33 Rubbing How Do You Stop It

Recommended Posts

1) make sure the wheels true. If its not, learn how to true it (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html) or take it to a shop and get them to do it.

2) if its already true, take your magura off, take everything apart, put it back together and spend about 2 or 3 hours of frustrating faffing getting it all back on and set up. A rather extreme way of doing it but if you've never set up a magura before then it'll be worth knowing how it all goes together in the long run :D

(3, make sure you havent just fiddled with the TPA (red dial adjuster) and made the pads too close to the rim, in which case undo the TPA a bit, still, its worth knowing how to set up a magura properly anyway) (Y)

as it is winter alot of crap gets in and around the exposed parts of the pistons. make sure that your pads are returning fully as i had a problem with this. just put a small dab of oil on pistons and pump the brake up. clean off the excess so dirt doesnt stick to it. mines works miles better now. thanks to help off people on this forum (Y)

What I find works a treat is to:

1. Firstly turn the TPA to max so that the pads won't push out any further

2. Secondly adjust the pads onto the rim so they actually touch it

3. Tighten up the magura bolts

4. Turn the TPA back to pull the pads back in so there is a perfect gap in between both pads. Obviously adjust it to your preferences though ^_^
