Whilst tapping up a small wall in Cleethorpes on Saturday,

my foot slipped off the pedal and this is the result,

Required 4 stitches and the doctor said it was allmost at the bone, best part is that i didn't really hit the pedal hard just slipped down it.

Oh well didnt really feel it untill a day or so later,

Think shin pads may be the way forward :D

I always ride with either some cheap 'spiky shins' from a LBS or these days I aways use Dainesse (can't spell it) knee and shin pads since I hate hitting my knee on my stem (N) .

I actually find the knee and shins to be more comfortable than the shins alone.

nothing new here.

i would almost certianly guarantee that every experienced rider will have the odd pedal scar.

i cant get on with shin pads cos they get soo hot and are too restrictive imo.

Yeah, not the first one ive had, just the first time ive needed to go to hospital. >_<

just wanted the shin pads for whilst its healing, i know they are restrictive and make you sweat like hell,

any help would be appreciated,

cheers

when i once wore some knee and shin pads i found that my knee hit the stem alot more because they stick out so much. even thiugh it didnt hurt its still annoying. those dainesse pads have little protection at the back which means you stay relatively cool, but are vulnerable to spinning spinkey pedals.

if you want a cheap option just use foot ball shin pads and they have a really nice fit and protect your ankle aswell :D

Will try them, can get some for less than a tenner i think
