They wrap around and fasten tight with velcro so aren’t loose and flappy. As they go all round you get the backs of your legs protected too. rudirudirudirudirudi Posted March 12, 2007 Report Share Posted March 12, 2007 i use the 661 pads. there good but the bottom velcro fastening doesnt fit unless u have annorexic ankles. doesnt really get in the way though. there quite expensive at £30 but have saved my shins more than a few times! They are abit hassley and just extra money that could be spent on parts Football shin pads can do the job too. spmcfadden Posted March 12, 2007 Report Share Posted March 12, 2007 I use the 661 race knee and shin for downhill and they fit me well (I must have anorexic ankles!), but wouldn't want to use them for trials as it isn't as flexible as just shin pads. Also I always hit my knees on my stem so I wear vollyball knee pads, sounds silly but work really well and very flexible their Rucanor ones. Bearded Midget Posted March 13, 2007 Report Share Posted March 13, 2007 i use ordinary football shin pads. they protect your ankles and the lower half of your leg. the only bad point is if you hit your knee but if you have ordinary shin pads i suggest you where them till you get some proper ones. they dont get in the way at all, you wont even notice they are there.
