  1. Hi everyone, Just wondering what the advantages to high rise bars are. I currently run truvativ husslefelt dh bars, which don't have heaps of rise, and am thinking about getting the Inspired Arcade Riser bars. I'd like to make the bike (24" marino) a little more easy to manual and bunnyhop, am I right in thinking higher rise bars make the bike more 'flickable'? Cheers.
  2. Thinking about running a 200mm BB7 on the rear of my 24". Can anyone offer any wisdom on whether the adaptors are strong enough to take a lot of abuse? I don't really care that much about modulation on the rear, but need it to have a ton of hold and bite. I know 200mm might sound like overkill but I'm quite heavy. Do you think a BB7 with SD7 lever would be a sensible choice?
  3. Cheers Leon, good to see you're still riding! I'm a heavy dude at the moment so will go with 200/203. Because of the m810's being like gold dust, if you had to go with something else, would you recommend the m820's, or the zee's, or the Hope Trial Zone, or a bb7 on the back?
  4. Cool, thanks! So an ideal rear brake would be: Saint M810 | Ice Tech Rotor (200/3mm?) What type lever and pads?
  5. Isn't the ice tech rotor a 'floating' disk? Would it be better to have non-floating? Surely no movement is better for trials?
  6. Just been reading about the Saint's. Any consensus on best rotor?
  7. Hi guys, I've been out of the game for a while and only just got back into trials. The last time I rode properly, BB7's had just come in and were making waves as the front brake of choice. I got one and it was kind of mind-blowing. But, that was years ago. Now I'm looking to switch to disks front and rear. I'm too old to be falling off because of brake slippage, and I'm too old to endure the sound of a grind and a HS33, so... what's the best damn disk brakes you can get these days? And what size rotor / lever / pads combo etc? This would be on a 24". Appreciate any help. Cheers!
  8. Hey guys, I'm off to cycle across America and make a film about the journey and the people along the way. Just launched the website, would be great if you wanted to have a gander! www.vaguedirection.com
  9. Jeez, ballsiest guy of the year award goes to Felix. Nearly passed out with dizyness watching it on Youtube so he must have had a right headache afterwards.
  10. How long ago was this made, anyone know? Looks dated for some reason (bike & image quality) but jeez, classy rider. Another old skool guy who's still got it 'eh.
  11. Insanely awesome. Both the stunt and the fact that we're watching a guy go up to the edge of space live on our computers. Pretty 'effin cool really.
  12. I remember taking my trials bike on a train to Manchester I think it was. A Virgin train. Probably 2006. Reserved it by phone before arriving at the station. And it was a pretty off-peak train so the main carriages were deserted. I arrived at the outbound platform, and the train arrived. The conductor got off, noticed I had a bike and came over. "No you can't put it on the main carriage, it needs to go at the back in a storage compartment". I thought OK, no worries, and asked him about how it worked getting the bike off the train. He said, wait with it and I'll get an official from Manchester to open the storage door when you arrive. So we pulled in at Manchester and I waited. And waited... Until I thought "this is ridiculous I need to get off". So I hastily ran down the aisle with bike in tow to get to a main carriage door. And what do you know that really annoying beeping sound happened, and the doors closed just before I could get to them. So because of staff incompetence, I missed the stop and had to get off at the next one.
  13. This is one of the coolest videos I've seen for ages. I used to be big into trials around 7 years ago, then moved away from it. It was only when I saw the original MacAskill video that it became apparent that standards have improved an insane amount. Ashton doing that stuff, on a road bike, now?! He was one of the old-skool guys years ago. Quite amazing, and inspiring, that he's still got it in him! Good effort.
