  1. I rode a Zebdi and it has a steel hanger and thank god! the amount of times i bent it. Steel can be bent back loads more times, and if its made of a soft steel then it is much better than alu. Cheap trick if you cant aford a mech hanger straightener...old 10mm axle screw it though the mech hole and tighten the nuts from the axle either side so that the axle is tightly on the hanger. Then grab the axle and align it so that its horizontal. JOB DONE
  2. He He, trials bike is in the living room, motobike is in the bedroom and my g/f in the garage....thats the way it should be, correct me if i'm wrong.
  3. What a bummer, after spending hundreds on a new frame, cranks and whole new drive train i found that the chain skipped over the 18T Surly splined sprocket every time i tried to lay down some power. After working as a bike mechanic for several years i was scr*wing since i couln't work out what was wrong, new chain, new mech, perfect chain line, straight hanger. Eventualy i realised that the teeth on the sporket where too far apart, and the problem was solved by using an old chain. Hands up who is willing to ride a brand new drive train with an old chain...no, didn't think so One call to Tarty bikes and they agree there was a problem and sorted me out with a Chris King sprocket (thats right only £35 for just the one sprocket; yeah i know its a rip off but what you gonna do?). So anyone else had this problem or how do you guys stop your cassets digging into you casset hubs (mine is a steel hub body but still digs)
  4. you said riding right, you didn't say trials riding. One pissed off night i was speeding home at about 130mph on my motobike and some f***ing c**t decided to change lanes on me round a corner. well on went the anchors but i still came off at about 40mph...next thing i remember i was arguing with the ambulance crew that my elbow was fine even though i could see the bone and that i was going to ride home and there was nothing they could do about it. i was out cold apparently for some time, i even had the whole light at the end of the tunnel thing like euphoria. took up trials to get the same adrenaline without the death factor, never looked back.
  5. no plastic is strong enough to support your weight without being very thick, your better off making it from CARBON FIBRE. thats stiff and light. but even with carbon it will have to be thick, check the trials moto's out, their plastic is very floppy to stop it from snapping and often has a sub frame holding it up and its not light. I might draw up some plans for a carbon version later if i get bored
  6. I have been coming to this forum for over a year, i have never needed to post anything really, but when i do i haven't the access to the topics that are relevent to me. Recently i needed to reply to topics such as london rides and as a newbie i cant do this (sorry to all you london riders, Chai, Tim, Sponge and the rest). I think that this system of needing having to prove yourself is very condescending especially since i have been a moderator on three large forums, but is a necessary evil, it obviously does filter out the twats who have nothing better to do than spam and post shallow topics. As newbies i guess we feel beneath the full members, even if that isn't the case....
  7. i wouldn't ever recommend hammering it off, get yourself the proper tool there no more than a £5, if you have a vice it makes life a hell of a lot easier as you just put the tool in the vice and turn the wheel as if it where a car steering wheel...nice and easy
  8. there should be a reasonably even gap between the frame and cranks on both sides do u have a bottom bracket spacer fitted between your frame and bb? if so try removing it, that should shift the bb more to the non drive side. if there is little in the way of clearance on both sides then you will need a wider BB. unless anyone has a better idea?
  9. A close friend had an ACS claws, yep you guessed it..it came loose over and over again. A close encounter with a mig welder stopped that From what i hear some riders glue them with epoxy or locktight.
