  1. I saw some other links of people showing off there striped frames. I really liked the effect it gave. So I was keen on doing the same to my bike. Looking on the other links I heard stores of people saying that you use a angle grinder to get the effect. I thought this was a bit rash using a wire brush on a piece of aluminium could probably do a lot of harm. I read one guy used “Nitromors“. this was the stuff I used. “Nitromors” is quite dangerous stuff. Goggles, old cloths, maybe a mask. And do it outside to. Is recommended. Its quite simple to use and takes about ten minutes. Tip : - I think the stuff is acidic (can some back this up). Aluminium has a poor tolerance to acid so using Nitromors on it will probably weaken the frame. So make sure when you are finished taking off the paint, that you rinse the frame well. I sprayed it down with the hose for about 10mins. I would show i pic but cant paste it in.
  2. there quite easy to put on. all you need is a hammer prefreably a mallet of some kind and a bolt that fits the nut. then put a bolt on the end of the star nut and just tap it in gently. i usally knock them in about 30 to 40mm.
  3. stay away from halfords when I last went in they didn’t sell anything trials specific. And they over charge on alot of there stuff. Try getting your self down the local bike shop. These guys will be much more willing to help you. Because you are young go with your parents they will take you more serious that way. Hopefully the guys should let you have play on a bike in there car park. I did a quick search and found this bike shop. http://www.bromleybike.co.uk/ If you wanna get something off the internet try these guys http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/news.php I heard they are good but stay away from “super cycles” there email responses is rubbish and they never get back to you. Good luck.
  4. this is quite ironic one of my mates who rides trials is a security guard. i somtimes go round to see him. and we have a play in the car park. Yeah its just a job dont blame the person. in the end of the day they are just doing there job.
  5. Mat that frame does look nice. how did you go about doing it. did you get some one to do it or did you do it your self. I got a T-mag in that lime green and it looks god awful i think. yeah if could just tell what tools you used any tips you can offer me, will be great. when i get it done i will post some pictures. Or i may just paint it black. depends.
  6. thanks for the info guys you have all been a great help. i have made a order for a t-master hub.
  7. excellent that is just what i am looking for! and thx for info on the other question. What else do people think should i go for the T-master rear hub? How do you rate it?
  8. Hi all I am building up a mod bike at the moment and its almost complete. All I need is a rear wheel I have selected my rim it’s a odyssey hazard lite. But I am struggling with selecting the hub I have looked about on the internet but cant make up my mind. I am after 36hole hub non disc that is light. And I am compromising strength for lightness I am not a heavy rider. I also want it to use cartridge bearing for a easy life. Also do mod bikes use 10mm axels. Also what are the width of the hubsthey use.
  9. this seems to have gone off the point now
  10. why do people just keep saying use seach! its quite annoying. its ment to be a forum to chat about trials. if you dont like the topic just move on.
  11. i actully cant belive what i am reading. Holes in your frame. the only place i would consider putting holes is in the head tube making the vent holes bigger but this can only be done before welding drilling gussets cutting down the drop outs (not drilling but same thing) Cracks start due to tiny micro scopic holes that get bigger...then stap. And you are attacking it with a drill. yeah some pictures would be nice. and you doing the 10ft drops to. another downer is that you cant sell the frame after.
  12. buy the hub if you want cheap look at the shinamo stuff i think you are looking at about 35 quid.I dont no just look around on lots of sites look on ebay look on the selling on the forum just dont be lazy and get others to do it. and considering you are tight on the money at the moment this would be a good time to build wheels. This is the best guild on the internet i think. http://www.gsportbmx.com/tech/tech.php . there a whole bunch of other cool stuff on there just look around. and here a spoke calculator to work out what spokes you need... http://www.wheelpro.co.uk/spokecalc/ good luck i posted wronge part of web site its here... http://www.gsportbmx.com/tech/georgesguides.php
  13. hey i had the same problem on the bike that i am building now. basically i am using gusset pigmys and all i did was buy a BMX 24th ring and i run a 18th on the back i am hoping it will work quite well. this ratio gearing gives somthing in between a 22-18 and a 22-16 which is kind of nice i think. A way to work it out is to divide the back tooth by the front. your answer should be lower then 1. You can get rings as low a 23th but these a rare and only just come out on the market. they are also expensive looking at about £60. my 24th cost me £40
  14. i am building a mod bike at the moment(got all bits just waiting for frame), and by no choice of my own i am going 24 20 what do you guys think to this? (i would go lower but cant)
  15. if you want the best and i mean the best then the only protection there is is DAINESE. This protection is pure quality. they originaly started out making proctective gear for motor cycles. now they also produce stuff for the humble mountain biker. But the gear is quite expensive i think leg protection is about 40 to 50 quid around. highly recommened. will last a life time
  16. yeah i cant wait to get down there to see what its like.
  17. proberly a silly question but what is a front freewheel???
  18. I am moving down to brighton in september for uni, cant w8! But i was just wondering what the scene is like down there. I live in derby and trials aint to big here you see the odd guy on a trials bike but its minly BMX. Is there any cool spots to go to and what not. If you live down there please post. i wanna hear whats it like.
  19. yeah i aint to keen on it to. not because it looks like another bike just because i dont like the looks of it. i like the onza T-bone they look well cool, shame they never went in to full productions.
  20. the star nut is ment to be bigger then the fork tube. You need to hammer it in, its the friction that holds it in place. Or better yet get one of them ahead sets, that holds the fork from the bottom of the tube.If you no what i mean.
  21. i remember using some megamo pads years ago when i was on the hs33. they worked really well in the wet a. i remember them being see through in complextion. they didt last long though so just try using them in wet weather if you find a set.
