  1. Yes, you can. But don't forget your ACU licence! (That goes to everyone else aswell - it makes signing on much easier!!!)
  2. Read the DEFRA guidance notes here Read the ACU's latest news here In its current form, the scheme WILL affect biketrials - as well as all other forms of off-road cycling, clay pigeon shooting, car boot sales, etc. BikeTrial UK is aware of what's happening and is supporting the ACU's petition, and other efforts. The ACU is working with Lara, as is Sport For All, and other groups.
  3. Sorry to put a downer on it Tom, but have you realised that's the date of the 2nd round of the British Championships at Addingham? I'd expect most riders who travel around to events will be riding there and so reduce your expected numbers. :D
  4. Just heard from Stuart that we have 22 British riders for the event - as soon as he's finished the paperwork a rider list will be put on the BikeTrial UK website.
  5. So, as Wayne says, in future, TykeTrial will accept entries and membership on the day at a higher fee (but only for people who already hold an ACU card and bring it with them). But that shouldn't give you the chance to be lazy ... please, it is so much easier to prepare if we get entries by the closing date, and it helps us to decide on what course and sections we're going to lay out. We need more riders in the Novice and Intermediate classes so get your entries sent now!
  6. Yes, we'd arrange to get your prize to you! BUY YOUR TICKETS ON-LINE NOW! click here Only 15 weeks to go so keep the World Round dates free and start making your arrangements to get there! 23rd and 24th July :ermm:
  7. Another raffle is now available ... prize? A full build Ashton Justice 20" bike. Tickets will be available to buy on-line in the next couple of days.
  8. The entry closed yesterday (Saturday 2nd) so where are all your entries??? So, for all of you who forgot, were away on holiday, or simply couldn't be bothered to send off the forms ... ... the closing date has been extended to Friday 8th April for anyone who already has their ACU licence, or has recently applied for it through either TykeTrial or through NBTC. If you haven't already applied for your ACU licence, then you've missed the deadline. Download TykeTrial Membership Form here (pdf file) Download Brimham Rocks Entry Form here (pdf file) It's the first comp for Tykes this year, so get your membership and entries in and support your new committee!
  9. The organisers of the Bike Show have kindly donated a stand near the trials arena to help raise funds for the British Round of the World Championships. On Friday there'll be Barbara Wright from Nationwide BikeTrial Club and Cleanbikes trying to take money off you for raffle tickets, on Saturday it'll be Terry Graves from Hampshire BikeTrial Club, and on Sunday it'll be George and Rick Eyre. Prizes will be on display, and with the World Round only 16 weeks away, do come and say hello and get those tickets bought! (Y)
  10. RESULTS Results are now on-line at www.biketrialuk.co.uk and will be in the post soon. DONATION The proceeds of the event, after insurances and land rent etc, amounted to £288 - this has been donated towards the British Round of the World BikeTrial Championship. Thanks to everyone who took part in any way! NEWS The NBTC Club had thought to run just while TykeTrial sorted themselves out, and then were going to disappear off the scene (hence the low membership fee). However, I've been really heartened by the emails I've received thanking us for putting on a good event, and after discussion with the other club helpers, have decided to find some new venues and put on a few more fun trials! So, watch out for new events and new venues coming up - and of course the details will be posted on here and on NBTC. Thanks a lot to everyone for a really good day.
  11. All the BIU Licences that have been applied for so far have been prepared, but not mailed (waiting for the entry form for the first round of the Nationals before mailing). If you need your's sending immediately for either Koxx Days or for the European Championship please email me on info@biketrialuk.co.uk. I will take them along to the trial at Back Cowm this Sunday, if you're there, just ask for your licence card.
  12. Entry now closed ... but ... if you already hold an ACU licence for 2005, bring it with you and you can enter on the day! See you all Sunday. :(
  13. Don't forget to send your entry in ... last day for receiving entries is this Thursday (3rd March). :ermm:
  14. It's a fun trial - any bike, any wheel size, any age, any class, no restrictions on gears etc. - the only usual rules that apply are safety rules (helmets, long trousers etc) and scoring rules.
  15. Yep, Beginners Class is for ages 6-10, this is the only age limitation. Novice class is for beginners/easy route age 10+ If you're a beginner or need it easyish, get your entries in. So far, everyone seems to think they're expert or elite riders! Come on, let's have some new riders for the white and blue routes. Remember - it's a fun trial! Beginners - age 6-10 Novice - white route - easiest Intermediate - blue route - a bit harder Expert - red route - pretty hardish Elite - yellow route - don't go there unless you've had a go at red route and found it easy! We've got a good experienced section setting team coming along to set up - if you want to help, send me a pm or give me a call on 07850 505298. PROCEEDS TOWARDS THE BRITISH WORLD ROUND
  16. If the link doesn't work - try typing in www.biketrialuk.co.uk/nbtc/nbtc.html Because it's the first trial, everyone has to have ACU membership, so we do, just this once, need the forms in advance please! Any problems downloading, call 07850 505298.
  17. ... no! He has nothing to do with British Champs except make sure we run to BIU rules. He has nothing whatsoever to do with YMSA. He is Britain's "mouth" on the BikeTrial International Committee and looks after our riders' interests at world events. He puts in the entries for the British Team for the World Championships. Hope that's clearer!
  18. There seems to be a bit of confusion here, so I'll try to explain. The BIU is the BikeTrial International Union, with it's head office in Japan. The BIU make the rules for BikeTrial competitions, which are used world-wide - all clubs in the UK run according to BIU rules. They are also responsibile for co-ordinating the World Championship events. Each country participating in trials has a delegate on the BIU. Every rider competing in British Championships, and in World Championships must have a BIU Licence. Martin will be the person responsible for UK riders' interests at world level, and also for ensuring BIU rules and decisions are carried out in the UK. He will be responsible for completing the British team's entries in world championships.
  19. A well-known trials figure has today taken on one of the most important tasks in support of UK trials. Martin Hawyes, ie Hawziee, is now responsible for representing the UK on the BikeTrial International Committee. Many thanks Martin!
  20. The date of the BikeTrial UK AGM was agreed at a meeting on 17th October 2004 and was posted on www.biketrialuk.co.uk "Calendar" within a couple of days of that meeting, with an invitation for people to attend placed on the "Committee" page. According to that website's statistics, from mid-October till the date of the meeting, 8,315 visits had been made to that site. I would expect from that that most people were aware of the AGM! 15 people were in the meeting (all well-known and respected trials organisers from around the UK), a democratic, secret paper ballot was taken on a proposal, which gave a clear result. Four people (two families) didn't like the result, and left the meeting. Again, with regards to TykeTrial possibly closing down, this has been on the cards for long before the BikeTrial AGM took place (on 9th January). I received an email from Carol on 4th October suggesting that the club may need to close due to lack of helpers. The two issues are not related. This by the way is not an "official" BikeTrial UK response, it is a personal reply from someone who is getting fed-up of the trouble-making that seems to be going on here. For goodness sake, the members of BikeTrial Uk are all volunteers, and for us it's great to have helped the sport to grow to the extent it has over the past seven years that I've been involved in helping. New clubs and organisers are setting up, and the standards of riding have improved dramatically, to the point where in 2004 we had several world champions, and in 2005 we're running the first ever round of a World Championship. People will retire as time goes on. Karen Luscombe and Heather Jagger, founders of "Yorkshire Tykes" have both retired now that their children have given up riding. That's life, and it doesn't end just because a couple of people decide it's time to step down. Trials will go on. If you want to ride them then that's great. If you want to help us, that's even better. Barbara Wright Secretary of BikeTrial UK Treasurer of BikeTrial UK Webmaster of BikeTrial UK World Round Event Organiser 2005 Retired Chairman of BikeTrial UK Retired Membership Secretary of Tykes (1998-2003)
  21. Well here it is ... it's taken a couple of days to organise, but it's on. All we need now is members and entries! It's going to take TykeTrial some time to sort anything out as to whether they close the club, or get a new committee. In the meantime, people are losing valuable riding time! So, whilst TykeTrial sort themselves out, I've been working to get trials going again, and have successfully renewed the NBTC. In conjunction with those who've offered to help, and with the sponsorship backing of Aire Valley Cycles, a fun trial is to be held on Sunday 6th March at Back Cowm Quarry, Whitworth, Nr Rochdale. Click here for all the information on club membership, ACU affiliation, and trial entry. Look forward to seeing you all there. (Y)
  22. I fail to understand why a challenge to respond has been given to BikeTrial UK when this topic is about TykeTrial? I was at the AGM of both and neither dealt with issues relating to the other. If you wish to know what happened, I am sure that the secretaries of both committees would be happy to send minutes of the meetings to you. Or better still, and more supportive of "the sport we all love", both were open meetings that you could have attended.
  23. Have you sent your entry yet? Less than a week to go before the closing date with prizes waiting!
  24. Ok, now Christmas is over, you've had time to save up ... buy your tickets NOW !
  25. Help us out please all you budding artists out there! BikeTrial UK have to provide a poster for the World Championship event that we're holding this summer. We've decided to turn it into a competition for riders, the winning poster will be displayed all over the UK as an advertisement for the event, it could also be used in our advertising in MBUK, and there's a prize of £25 worth of our amazing raffle tickets for the winner, £10 worth for second place, and £5 worth for third place. There will be a display of competition entries at the event. Closing date for the competition is 31st January. The poster must be A4 size and printed in colour, with the order of details contained as follows:- 1) "BikeTrial" printed in its original letter (click here to view) 2) "World BikeTrial Championship" 3) 22nd, 23rd, 24th July 2005 4) Official logo of BikeTrial International Union (click here to view) 5) Official logo of BikeTrial UK (click here to view) 6) Space for the main sponsor's logo and name to be added at a later date Entries, with name and address, should be sent to:- By email info@biketrialuk.co.uk or by post BikeTrial UK, 27 Midland Terrace, Hellifield, Skipton, BD23 4HJ Why not give it a go - you could win a bike or frame! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
