A very brief telephone call has just reported that "It was the hardest trial ever because of the humidity". But even so, British riders finished the event with:- Master Class 1st place Ben Savage Minime Class 1st place Tom Hyland Femina Class 3rd place Lois Morgan Expert Class 3rd place Danny Butler Expert Class 4th place Wayne Mahomet Unfortunately the call didn't allow time to give all of the places for British riders, hopefully we can fill these in later. These results, added to those in Spain and France give Ben Savage the World Master Champion title - he cannot now be beaten at the final round in Japan; also Lois Morgan will have the 3rd place overall in the Femina Class. More news as soon as we can get it. Well done to everyone!

The final round of the British BikeTrial championships takes place on the 10th of September. The Venue for the event is Hook Woods, a favourite with many riders. I would like to remind those that don’t regularly attend comps that there is a clubman class, held over the Blue route, so if your relatively new to BikeTrials, or have a single speed Bike you can still take advantage of a great days riding at a purpose built venue. There is always a great atmosphere at the last round with many of the classes decided on the day, so if you’re not riding come along and watch. Entry forms can be down loaded from the BikeTrial U.K. web site. ENTRY FORM

It was a real pleasure to see so many Brits trying hard and putting in great rides at the first two World rounds. Some of the comments made about the sections, camping etc are to be expected. The sections are the same for all and there to be ridden. It has to be remembered that the comps and camping are provided for free, this is Trials after all - not formula one! This was my first year as delegate, thanks to all for giving me a trouble free time. Well done to all those that competed for the U.K. especially those that gained a rare podium place, often riding "out of their skin" to do so. As a Nation we enjoyed two fourth places in the team results, narrowly missing third both times. There was a fun atmosphere around the venues before, during and after the events with group rides, swims, drinks etc enjoyed by the majority. I am really looking forward to the next two rounds and hope that those that tried so hard to capitalise on their skills in Spain and France continue to do so in Singapore and Japan. Fred Savage.

World Records 2005 & World News 2006
BikeTrial Federation replied to BikeTrial Federation's topic in News
Akrigg had a broken bone in his right wrist, documents were given to Japan. (Instead of riding he did the technical control in Britain!) Ashton & Hawyes both rode in Britain. Savage rode Elite. BikeTrial UK has questioned Head Office about Andrei not being seeded, the reply ... "this time we will promote 2 riders from Expert for 2006. The meeting was held immediately after the final event of WBC. The main reason is, in the effective points, Burton got 38 points (one time 2 nd but the rest is below 5th) and the 1st 57 points (won twice) and the 2nd 47 points (one time second and 2 times 3rd)." -
Just announced from head office is the Elite & Master rider list for 2006, and the World Records for 2005. Visit www.biketrialuk.co.uk to see.

Yes - any event. If you were to hold a party at home and someone was injured they could claim compensation off you. I've even heard of burglars claiming compensation for tripping over something left on the stairs in someone's home they were burgling! Remember all those TV adverts ... "have you had an accident that wasn't your fault?".
-
I hate to interfere, but for goodnes sake ... don't even contemplate running any event without adequate insurance, and don't consider attending one. Just because people are "mates" doesn't mean that if by some fluke of an accident they end up crippled for life - or worse - that they or their parents aren't going to do all they can to claim compensation for them being in a wheelchair or whatever for the rest of their lives because you didn't secure some pallets together properly, or whatever the circumstances. I would be very surprised if the hall would actually let you use their premises without adequate insurance - have you checked? Because they too would be liable, say if someone fell off that balcony acting silly, or had a few drinks too many and tripped on the stairs, or whatever. If it went to court, a disclaimer wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on. Think again, please. On another note. Don't be too harsh on Tom. Having run many many trials events I know how worrying it is when only a few entries have turned up at the closing date. The last TykeTrial event, as at the closing date there was only into the teens of entries. Now when you know what your expenses are, low entries are worrying. Luckily that Club has backup funds - Freeridetrials is quoted above at having about £40. (If I remember rightly, very few turned up to the last event - who's to say that wouldn't happen again, and the club be out of pocket.) Also from experience, about 60% of the entry for any comp arrives late. Be fair, play the game, and GET YOUR ENTRY FORMS IN ON TIME. Barbara

This bike is still missing so watch out for it ... Silver Monty 221 Ti (2004 model but brand new when taken) UNIQUE FRAME NUMBER J300120194 engraved on the headtube. The theft was reported to the police, so if you know its whereabouts, please contact your local police station or BikeTrial UK with details. The rider's parents were devastated at the loss - please help to show them that we are trustworthy in the UK --- it could be your bike next time if the thief isn't caught!

Stan, because you ask so nicely, riders were finally selected:- 1) On their qualified status from the 2004 British Championships 2) On their results from the 2004 British Championships 3) On actually sending their entry in on time 4) On sending the necessary documentation and fee with the entry You state only two names whose entries were declined, there seems to be no concern for other riders who did not meet the criteria who must have also been disappointed not to have been accepted.

Yes - Licence holders still get priority entry should numbers get too high, and of course riding on a competitive basis. -
British Biketrial Championship - Round 1
BikeTrial Federation replied to BikeTrial Federation's topic in News
Oooh compliments! :"> Non-comp riders will have a punchcard and be scored just the same as everyone else. They will be listed on the results as:- "Non-comp white route" "Non-comp blue route" "Non-comp red route" -
Now that licence holders have had their chance to get their entries in for the first round of the 2005 British BikeTrial Championship, the entry has been thrown open to other riders who don't have a BIU Licence. All non-licence holders will ride on a non-competitive basis, so no prizes! But that does give you the opportunity to ride in a different coloured route to what the rules say. So, for example, if the rules say that for your age or bike wheel size, that you must ride the red route - you can on a non-competitive basis ride the blue or white route! (The only exclusion is no non-competitive riders are allowed in the Yellow route.) Also, there would be no questions asked about riding without "6 working gears"! So if you fancy trying out riding at a National comp, without the Championship rules attached, now's the time to do it. Venue: High Wood Farm, Near Brimham Rocks, Summerbridge, North Yorkshire Date: Sunday 22nd May 2005 Start Time: 10.00am Entry Fee: £13.00 Entry Closing date: Thursday 19th May Entry Form here - mark the entry with "Non-comp" and the colour of the route you want to ride. Hope to see you all there. YOU MUST STILL HOLD AND PRESENT A CURRENT ACU LICENCE FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES DO NOT RIDE ON THE MAIN BRIMHAM ROCKS - THIS IS NATIONAL TRUST LAND AND WILL LOSE THE FARM VENUE FOR FUTURE COMPETITIONS.
