  1. If its a 24" one then yeah i would be interested.
  2. Sounds awesome and yeah I would like to see the photos. I would be running with a rear disc so no problems there. My email is fred.trial@gmail.com if you prefer to speak off forum. later
  3. I've heard a rumour that someone on here has built a frame which allows you to run the Surly Large Marge rim (65mm). I don't know if its a trials frame though? My source indicated Wright Pads would know more... If true may I see some pics please! Pretty please with sugar on top! PS: I been think of getting one of those rims myself drilling it silly and seeing how it would perform.
  4. They are 65mm wide and made by Surly. They're called the Large Marge
  5. Probably been seen by some of you but I thought I'd share anyways. I been thinking of getting one of these for a while now though I'd probably do some serious drilling to shave down its 1050g weight (24"). No tyre flex ever again and I can only imagine how low you could go (pressure wise) on these babies! Any thoughts? And please don't tell me its too heavy cause DUH I know! LOL My problem is the price tag £100 for the "heavy" version and £130 for the "light" one!!! PS: They also make these in 26" version: 1150g (non CNC) and 1050g (CNC "lightweight").
  6. Effective toptube on the Echo Control 2006 (assuming a 74º seat angle) gives you: 628mm Now if you want the actual (measuring alone the tube) top tube measurement then I cant help you.
  7. Curtis T24 Weight: 2528g (steel frame) Onza Zoot HA: 73º CS:380mm WB:1040mm BBD:+35mm IOLO and the Leeson Fluid 609 are fully custom so you decide the geometry (a good thing cause whats available at the moment is ALL street orientated)
  8. 24" rims I run a drilled BMF (38mm) and I highly recommend it! I've had a Identity Halo (36mm) but it is easily dented. I recently came across this 47mm rims on this forum: http://www.unicycle.uk.com/shop/shopdispla...p?catalogid=883 They might be your best bet, yet! And please don't go skinny rim on us this is trials not XC! Want a 32mm rim? Run it on the front!
  9. you want vertical dropouts and no deraileur? Do what some single speed bike frames do get an eccentric bottom bracket. Like that you adjust the chain tension at the bb rather than at the chainstays and avoid thus affecting the brake position. Dunno if Iolo will make this though. http://www.mtbr.com/faq/ssfaq.shtml#ssEbbDefined [attachmentid=8884] Another solution would be this: [attachmentid=8885]
  10. remove the internals from the freebody (for weight saving) then weld the the freehub shell to the rest of the hub and bam u got yourself cheap freehub. I had it done on an old XTR hub and it was light!
  11. go to http://www.shimano-xtr.com/ and have a look for yourselves. It says that hub engagement has increased 125%. Now considering the the old XTR (and all other shimano hubs) had 16 engagement points means that the new 2007 XTR has 36 engagement point on par with standard freewheels. Whether or not the hub is up to trials standards is left to be seen.

    Pro Gearing

For 26" most of my friends run 18/15 though you guys seem to run lighter gear ratios 18/16 (1.13) which is almost 20/18 or 22/20!!! you must all be using alot of body language with that tiny gearing What 24" gear ratio to use? I started with 22/18 (1.22) on my 24" but then went to 20/16(1.25) then went to 18/15 (1.2) when I changed cranks but it was too light so I am on 18/14 (1.29) now. You gotta run a heavier gear ratio than your 26" set up to compensate for the smaller wheel size. If 20" run 18/12 aka 1.5 and 26" run 18/15 (1.2) or less then 24" should be around 1.3 or 18/14 (1.29) I could show you the math behind it...just say the word I'd like to try 16/12 (1.33) cause 18/13(1.38) is too heavy for moi.
  13. Awesome though I'd lose the seat. Whats the rest of the geo like? The BB looks low though! Does Heatsink make custom frames? Cause I don't want the standard 24" heatsink.

    Pro Gearing

Just wondering what the current pro gearing is i.e. gear ratio. I remember seeing on Section7 Ben Savage's mod with 20/12 one of the Coustilleur on 16/13 and I've heard rumours about 18/12 for TRA. Anyone got any reliable info? I run 18/14 but I run 24s tried out 18/13 but its too big for natural for street its doable but still big.
  15. yep STASHE is the company that made (still makes?) custom carbon frames and not just trial frames. I heard of them through www.vtcz.ch Thanks for the info I'll look into mielic and Unique bikes (I never look at flashing things on websites by default ) Yeah my levelboss frame has a disc mount thats how I'm able to run a rear 24" I've always run 24s with discs cause I started out with 26" wheeled frames. [attachmentid=8845] My Echo ES3 also had a rear disc mount.[attachmentid=8846]
  16. true it is more a design rather than prototype. My first try was with STASHE (what happened to them? The page is no longer online) and I used the following geometry: WB:1065mm HA: 71.5mm BBD:+20mm Chainstays: 365mm I designed the bike to be what Koxx would make if they made a 24" wheeled trials bike. The bike rode like a dream. Super agile on back wheel, like a mod, but with a long front end which made it super stable. The long wheelbase also made things sweet (my previous bike was a Echo ES3 WB 1009mm). I noticed I still had a gap between the back tyre and the BB so the chainstays could have been shorten. Then the BT Ninja came out with 365mm with a rear 26x2.5 and I thought damn I'm sure I can squeeze a 24" into 350mm. Then I found some guy who had made 345mm chainstays and run a 24" wheel so I though, defo! Course I dont want to go shorter than 350mm cause mods havent (even though they could go under 300mm) so perhaps there is a limit... as for the rest well I'm currently riding a 1100mm Koxx Levelboss circa 2003 with 24" wheels so I've gotten used to the even longer effective top tube so I thought I'd incorporate the added length (about 24mm) into my next frame. Also increased the bb drop cause a BBH of 350mm feels better (I ran a 26" front wheel a few times on my Stashe 24). Problem is iolobikes only deal with steel and I want an alum bike cause of weight issues (the carbon frame was 1800g) Oh yeah and I also want a bashguard so i dont have to use a bashring. PS: why am I riding the koxx now cause the carbon frame cracked near the chainstay

The Karbon is pretty much a Belay replica with some tweaked geo!
  18. here is a pic of what "my" mod would look like: CS: 350mm Headangle: 71º WB: 1063mm bbd: +70mm BBH:330mm
  19. WB: ~1071mm CS: 350mm ETT: 643mm HA: 71.5º BBD:+35mm check the pic
  20. hey, Does anyone know the weight of a Koxx Levelboss 1100 circa 2003, the one with disc tabs? I'm trying to lose weight off my bike but dunno my frame weight I think it might be around 2300g but I'd like to make sure. later guys and gals (are there any on here?)

    ./

Sweet now I can finally run a 24"x47mm rim on my back wheel and put my current BMF on the front and ride like the big boys!
  22. The Zoot IS a "street" bike!!! Just look at its geometry! WB: 1040mm CS:380 HA:73º BB rise: 35mm My previous 24" wheeled bike was what they should be cranking out (pun intended ) ! WB: 1065mm HA:71.5º CS:365mm BB rise: 20mm So far if you want a decent 24" wheeled trials bike for natural then you gotta go custom!
  23. The question is not whether you or anyone else wants a mod to feel like a stock but rather if a long mod (like the eg I gave) would work better than a current mod. No one doubts that modern stocks with their long wheelbases works better than their short wheelbase predessors. Are current mods perfect the way they are or would they be better if they were longer? If you're happy with the way things are fine but if I had the money I'd have a 1060mm wheelbase mod made...
  24. Remember : -When Blair WASN'T prime minister -When Clinton was president? -The O.J. trial? -When Bill Hicks was alive? -When grunge stopped being cool? -When hiphop became cool? -When Rob Warner was cool? Did that EVER happen? -When Chris Akrigg was the next "Jesus" according to Mr. Ashton? -When your mom was relieved that you decided to be born after she was in labour for 11 hours? -Remember when Coustilleur went back to Koxx? Hang on wasn't that last week? But seriously I remember when: -V brake vs Magura was the debate NOT disc vs Magura -only pros from spain or france used front cogs/freewheels -everyone said using a rear disc would cause your frame to snap -Echo ES4 was the lightest trials frame ever at 1500g (still is?) -shimano silent clutch hubs were the sh*t! -back wheel hopping was magical -22/19 gear ratios wear heavy enough for 26" trials, lol -El Gatos were amazing trials tyres even though they suffered snake bites like no tomorrow!!! -Geax made the first high volume lightweight 2.3 tyre ~700g? -people ran mavic 517s as a front rim! -people ran 1.9 tyres on the front and 2.2 tyres on the rear -hutchinson green tubes were THE tube to use on your rear wheel -when stealth hub released a instant engagement hub and biketrials.com reviewed it saying it made chris king hub feel like it had slow pick up! -and finally when we all rode far worst than we do now? later
