Update; The price quoted for camping is per person. As far as I am aware the Base is not open to the public, so their price rates cannot be applied. KOXX have hired the whole place around this time for the last six years. Some camped last year and used the shower and toilet facilities in the Dorms’, in fact they were only supposed to be available to those staying in the buildings. In previous years I did not notice any campers, so last year presented circumstances to the organisers that they had not considered deeply. Renting a site like Buthiers, insuring it, paying for your own staff etc is costly, hence the price. KOXX plan to take all those on site into Paris, including campers. I suggest if prospective visitors consider the camping fee to high they should off set some of their expenditure against the possible cost of a coach trip to and from the capital, what you pay for that, possible 30 euro, it equates to almost 3 days free camping. Other freebies on offer include the group coaching sessions with Serge, I doubt many will want t take part, its there if you want it. Campers may buy tickets for Saturday night’s meal/music/bar etc. If you are planning your trip and can’t work out what you will need to pay I suggest you mail the factory saying you want “A, B, C & D” – how much will that cost? Fred.

PHILLY; I'll check on theperson/tent thing, is £8.24 steep? Normally the showers and loos are not open out of season, so you can't compare normal off peak camping prices. As far as enforcing matters are concerned, it may be down to trust - or the gun toating on site security guards may shoot non paying campers on site - who knows??????????????????? KOXX are not going to go out of their way to give visitors a rough time, or for that matter rip them off, I expect the opposite, as in previous years. No doubt there are other questions, I said in my post there are some unresolved issues - Ill try to answers asap. Fred

KOXX DAYS 2006. To avoid disappointment please read below. I am concerned that prospective visitors may be of the opinion that they can just turn up and sleep in the forest. In previous years that may have been the case, but the event has grown to such a degree that a level of regulation has to be imposed. If you want to camp, use the dormitory accommodation or compete in the competition it must be pre booked. I have been told, but I have not had it in writing yet, that showers and toilets will be provided for campers. Fires will not be allowed, this has always been the case when Buthiers has hosted World events. The fire rule is enforced by the site owners, not KOXX, I expect they will patrol as they do during the Worlds. Those opting to book the dormitories will enjoy the added benefits of breakfast and an evening meal, coach trip to Paris and entry to the meal/music evening. I am waiting to hear if campers can book a place on the coach trip. Don’t forget you will need a licence to ride in the comp. To book your place, regardless of your options, visit KOXX.FR – select the English version, visit the KOXX DAYS announcements in the news items, pre payment may be made by credit card.
  5. Ali, as amatter of intrest, when did you make your design public? Fred.
  6. The Hosel version of the XTP has been available for some time.
  7. Cheers Wayne/Ben, I've fixed my links. tank_rider, you may find your self in the same place as Buthiers is full of way marked boulder routes. Fred.
  8. Potential visitors may wish to view the following links. LINK ONE LINK TWO LINK THREE You can find info about what's planned for the camp, and a time table for the main weekend. Visitors may camp in forest, although they may still be required to register, I'll check on that. The competition is set to be bigger than ever - KOXX have asked me if there are any "Brits" that would like to observe, if so, let me know. More news/details to follow. Fred.
  9. We’ve received a number of e-mails, mostly from forum users, asking for more details about KOXX DAYS 2006. As soon as I get a reply to my questions from the factory I’ll post with further details. As yet it’s not clear what’s going on during the days preceding the competition. Fred.
  10. Tha YAABAA brand is slowly developing its own identity. The "BOW" will be available soon, here's a preview. HERE
  11. Koxx have launched two new models, both will be available from the usual sources soon. ACID DROP A single speed entry level Trials model aimed at the street market, £425 for complete bike. WASP A light weight 20”competition bike, designed for younger riders, £845 for complete bike. The KOXX and TRY ALL clothing ranges now include some interesting new additions.
  12. Good Question! Its a mistake, I just checked with the webmaster. The retail price for the frames in the U.K. is £250. That's for all three sizes. Photographs HERE Fred.
  13. I'd like to say well done to all KOXX riders that made it to the podium in this years Championships, you can see the details HERE Fred.
  14. If you want to play with colours go HERE
  15. In response to continued demand for 2004 Level Boss frames, KOXX has decided to distribute the 1040, 1065, (actually1085) and 1100 through their sister company YAABAA. If all goes to plan they should be available later this month. KOXX U.K.
  16. Austin, thank you for bringing attention to my products, it was once said that “Any publicity is good publicity – even when it’s bad!” Most intelligent people in the Trials world respect KOXX products for what they are, reliable and well designed. When the XTP frame was first released it set the standard that other manufacturers continue to aspire to. It is expensive, but research, testing and original machining costs money. In mitigation of KOXX’s pricing strategy relative to their development budget, I would ask readers to look at the web site of their sister company YAABAA; an addition to the range has just been announced. Once a popular frame ceases to be at the cutting edge of Trials design and development expenditure has been recovered they continue to be available at a reduced price, orders welcome. Fred.
  17. As far as I am concerned you won't need gears, but if your bike is to "trialsy" it wont qualify for the Stock class, that's just for non trials bikes. If you want to ride the stock sections on a Trials bike that would be OK - but not for an award. This comp is about having a good time, ride what ever you want. Fred.
  18. Entry forms available now from www.fortwilliamworldcup.co.uk Fred.
  19. Its the weather permit thats held up the entry forms, but its booked now, 28 degrees, sunny. The entry fee will also get you in to the venue on the day of the trial, once the forms are finished they will be available for download from the official site. Fred.
  20. Fort William is full of Hotels, B & B's and camp sites, the town has a very helpfull Tourist info centre, I am sure they would supply details. Many thousands of people visit the event so don't leave it to late to book up. Fred.
  21. Results, at last. Good to see some KOXX riders extending their lead in their respective classes. Back to the main topic; I think I'm begining to sound like Sir Bob - COME ON! GET ON THE PHONE! - to help out with the World roun that is. If you have been thinking about helping out but have not put your name on the line, please call now. It will take so much pressure off. Fred

    Help!

Just been on to the Biketrialuk web site to check out the Devon results. I noticed a further appeal for observers. I to would like to appeal to forum users to come forward and help. The free camping available to those involved in the event is a real bonus with quality facilities, including a café/restaurant – so no cooking or washing up! I am sure camping with the competitors will bring some great opportunities to join in or watch the Worlds top riders practice and train. So, why not be part of the event and help out, the more people we have the less each of us will have to do. Fred.
  23. The entry forms are almost ready for release. The Trial will take place on Saturday the 10th of September, starting at 11.00. We plan to have four levels of severity in the sections, similar to most club events. In addition to the norm a “Stock” class will be included where riders may compete on machines that are obviously not Trials bikes, criteria yet to be set, but I’m sure you get the idea. A team of helpers/observers is needed. If you plan to travel with a friend that can help out they will receive £30 expenses plus access to the competition area. The total number of riders will no doubt have to be capped to avoid congestion in the sections. If you wish to pre-book an entry or register as a helper then mail your intentions to ucitrial@hotmail.co.uk Fred.
  24. Don’t get too excited – yet. These days it’s almost impossible to test a proposed frame and not have a photograph appear on the web. The 20” Vinco has been “under development” for an awful long time, the main area of attention being the rear disc brake mount, which may be something a little different from the norm on a Trials bike. I will post a release date as soon as it is set. Geometry will as yet be undecided. More info as soon as it is set. Andrew T, (Hi by the way), complete bike builds are hugely popular throughout Europe; often first production run supply is absorbed fulfilling orders. Fred.
