  1. Doesn't matter. The I9 has a proven track record in all other disciplines here in the states as well as a company who has BLATANTLY said "if you can break it, we'll fix it".

    How doesn't it matter? The hope XC and Bulb had a "proven" track record in all other disciplines to, I've lost count of the amount of old Hopes I've ripped apart!

    I've also heard the phrase "if you can break it, we'll fix it" before. So what happens if trials riders start using the hubs, and start ripping them so shreds? Will they still honour that statement? I doubt it very much.

    It's comical how people will be quick to trust a freewheel from companies that are just rebadging something else rather than something that is CLEARLY overbuilt (especially by comparison) and DEFINITELY has higher QC standards. If you saw a "trials" fw and then saw the I9 and had no idea which were which, you would likely have more faith in the latter. But since it's a "trials" part, people are more apt to accept it as "burly" when it's nothing more than a rebadged pick-and-choose catalog part.

    To be honest, I've never been a fan of overbuilding anything, I would much rather it be designed with the forces that are to be applied to it in mind.

    I think you will find that people don't just buy things because they are a "trials" part, but more on how the hub has stood up to lashings of abuse by riders. All the succesfull freewheels have a proven track record, whereas the I9 does not.

  2. Spokes don't stretch that much at all.

    What people seem to forget to do when building wheels is to stress relieve the spokes. The spokes need to bend at a few points on a 3 cross wheel, usually whereever it encounters either another spoke, the hub flange and the nipple.

  3. I'm sure someone wrote up a guide on this at somepoint. Can't remember who though. The BB in the leesons have no thread, their pressed/persuaded in (interference fit). Their then secured in with a circlip. As far as I know all leesons are like this (maybe some of the older ones arn't?).

    Does the BB really need changing?

    I can't remember if the BB Clive used was a specific one or he just turned down a standard BB. To remove it your going to need to get the circlip out first, then try and persuade it out. If Clive has put it in there with loctite you may need to heat the shell first to break the locktite.

    I've never had to remove the BB on mine, been good since I've had the frame from Clive.

  4. if thats the case why isn't every one tripping balls on salvia (i think salvia is totally underrated, but it's not really a party drug like m cat)

    I've tried it, to be honest I think its already over-rated. Maybe I just has a shit trip.....plus the mega headache after was shiiiiiiite. The only halucination I had was that my nose was the pivot point of a conveyor belt made out of people (i don't expect anyone to understand that).

    What pissed me off was the parents of one of the people who have died from is saying that if it was illegal then little timmy wouldn't have done it.........no, sorry anybody with an ounce of common sense would realise that taking a drug that you know little about is asking for trouble. Darwin would be proud.

  5. Hmm sorry but i dont agree i dont think what danny mac is doing is trials to be honest.

    I think he seems more along the lines of bmx/freeride and i think this may become a problem in the future maybe when everyone does ''trials''

    where their accually doing more 24" freeride <_<

    Anyone else agree ?

    On three occasions I've heard people mention danny mac when I'm out riding now. So I think people understand trials a bit better.

    To be honest though, trials is a small sport and will always be. Theres no way its going to change either, sure it will grow but not much.

    I hope trials stays a small, tight nit sport.

  6. Well ive just come i from the shed and tryed that method that you suggested and nothing the F****er wont budge at all. Im now thiking Haksaw maybe grinder but other sugestions would go a long please help!!!

    Just had a look, one wrap round the sprocket does the trick.

    Did you fail because it slipped in the vice? Or could you not get enough force on it? If its the latter, try two people each end of the wheel.

  7. How about wrapping a chain round the sprocket twice, so that the teeth do not protrude above the chain. Then clamp it in a vice. Then using two hands turn the wheel anti clockwise (i think). You should have plenty of leveradge by using the wheel.

    Whatever you do make sure its the chain your are applying the clamping force to and not the teeth!

  8. Without ever seing one, i've calculated it to be between 610 and 620mm.

    Geo on tartybikes says centre of bb to centre of the top of the steerer tube is 650mm. Radius of bb shell is 17.5mm i think and the radius of the steerer is 14.3. Gives 618.2mm but you need to take into account your measuring to the bottom(ish) of the steerer tube. I'd lean towards 615mm.

    24, should just get a bmx to be honest.

    When you say it like that above though, it seems like your saying all 24" riders ride like they would on a BMX.

    I don't ride my 24" like I would ride my BMX, I like my hip hop too much :)
