  1. Oh and while were here....iv got a broken spoke, Need to know Spoke lengh for; Hope XC onto An old D521 rim (32hole) Farely common setup, so i thought someone might know straight off Thanks! Chris Oh and im not entirely sure of the lacing pattern....?
  2. Yea thats what I thought??? Its not the width thats the problem surely, the pads are able to reach the rim when braking just fine, its just that they are too high.. So, it looks like ill be getting some 4bolt mounts to start off with...see if they sit lower n the frame. if that dont work, a new rim it is then....?! Failing that, a new frame lol Im just very limited on funds...so would much prefer to keep as much as poss as it is without expendature. Am prepared to fork out for some 4bolt mounts...does anyone have some lying around they could sell me for a reasonable price? Or lawnmowerman...You prepared to do a swap? Theres no quick release thingi on the right mount...but i do have the special quick release bolt. Thanks alot guys for all your input, Is there any more suggestions anyone has?? Chris Oh and what exactly is an MPS frame?
  3. Too narrow for 4bolt mounts?? Surely the width wont make a difference?
  4. Hi Right, I have a bike once again. The frame is a Saracen team trials (06) with 4 bolt maggie mounts, running a hope xc on D521 ceramic rim.... One main problem. The guy who had it before me bodged some old evolution clamps onto it, getting rid of the quick release etc and using them as 4 bolt to suit the frame I dont have a problem with asthetics, as long as it works to its full potential, but the whole brake setup just seems too high, the slaves/mounts are pushed down as much as poss to reach the rim, but even then the slaves need to be angled downward in the mounts down in order for them not to not touch the tyre! The brakes work and stop okish(could be better), but only really because the pads are worn at an angle to cater for this...when I come to get new ones, its not going to be possible to get the pad facings parrallel with the rim!! And im not into grinding the face of the pad down to suit an irritating angle... I hope that all made sense? The questions I have are; Do I need proper four bolt mounts? Could the frames mounts be off? Could the wheel be too small in diameter? (i doubt it, but will throw out there anyway!) And if anyone else is running evo mounts with a 4 bolt frame...please let me know how it is!! Thanks for reading guys, would be very grateful for some help Chris

    Giant Stp

Hi guys, Im thinking about a Giant stp for a trials+street/occasional xc use...What do you guys think? Good frame for this use or not? Just want to be able to ride trials/street, then simply shuffle the seat up a bit to hit some longer rides on the singletrack... Please let me know your opinions asap. Anyone have a stp???? 14. eyup lads, im after a new 7 speed front chainring (outer) for my mtb. Need to know though, does it really matter if i get an '8 speed' one. Whats the difference?? As a 7 speed one seems to be hard to get hold of. Also, ATB and CD, whats the difference exactly? I think I used to know but its a loong time ago since iv seen the old beast. I have a set of old FSA powerpros. Someone help asap please, need it up and running again asap because i wrote off ma car at the weekend Cheers Chris
  15. Snap! I LOVED that vid. Trialskings simply rocked da house. Good backing track to... Also Evolve, used to watch before a ride, hype myself up
  16. Just out of curiosity...did it work?! I myself tried the dishwasher method just last night as suggested by lee, superb results As for the Pads, I put em in the oven for a while and rub off crap with clean cloth. The combo of these gives very sharp brakes!
  17. Awsome, cheers. Ill give all that a go tomo...altho i did read somewhere online not to use any cleaning agents apart from the stuff iv got (summetorother alcahol). But will scrub the pads alot and give the disks a once over with some wire wool then clean... let u no thanks agen chris
  18. Ey-up lads, Havin probs with my Hope M4. Basically the front one sqeels like a bitch, pads are lined up and have plently of life and its been bled, disk has been cleaned with proper stuff, I did put a bit of copper grease on the back of both pads, didnt seem to make a difference, but didnt really want to over-do it...whats the reccomended amount to put on?? Is there anything else i should try? and the rear isnt sharp whatsoever...I REALLY have to sqeeze the lever just to get a skid out of the rear, this is really irritating me to say the least, esp when doin trialsy type stuff. Once again pads are not worn, disk has been cleaned, freshly and thuroughly bled so no air. All pads line up spot on. As with the pads front and rear i have rubbed them down with fine emry paper...is it possible for something to have soaked in that far into the pad maybe?? Help...! cheers chris
