  1. Put it in writing if you're too much of a girl to sort it out. The threat of legal action is usually enough :)

However you want to do it sooner rather than later as there's a 3 month deadline to take these kinds of matters to employment tribunal, so you've got until the 21st of this month.

Give letter, give him a week to pay it (detail this in the letter), take legal action.

    Also man up ffs!

cheers for the info on the 3 month thing. It's not about manning up or being too much of a girl, but you won't understand, so there is no point going into it.

  2. Ok, I left my job on December 21st 2012. I still haven't been paid my full months pay for the month of December. I know it sounds really bad but there a few points I will list.

    - It's a small fires and fireplaces business with 5 employees
-cashflow has always been a problem, even more so the biggest customer we ever had still owes over £12000 since before xmas.
-the 2 other main fitters (i was lead fitter) are always skint and one had just got a mortgage and the other is trying to get one. I have savings and keep feeling they need the money more than me.
-the showroom manager has just got a mortgage, and needs the money more than me.
-Even when i worked there i was rarely paid on time, once not for 2 months, but I always trusted my boss and he always did come through.
-I still trust my boss overall, but the longer it goes with no communication the more annoying it is getting
-Im still in contact with the 2 fitters and they are all owed money still, and not being paid on time, so I know its not just me.
-my boss' best friend got in trouble with his own fire business, so lent him something like £50k. But isn't seeing hardly anything back for nearlly a year now. He was too kind basically and its hurting his own business now.

One other problem I have is (well not really a problem i guess) i was paid a salary, and I'm owed £700-£800 of that still (that's a given) but in the busy season I did a handshake deal on £250 cash bonus per month, this was 4 months before xmas. I got the first 2 months bonus but I am waiting on the Nov and Dec bonus, so £500. I know it means f**k all in legal pay terms but knowing £500 should be mine but probably wont be is a bit sucky.

My boss is a top bloke, he is trying his hardest to run a business, employs young workers, cares for his staff, runs around none stop trying to get work in and organise everything. On top of that he is a crazily interesting guy as he was the youngest sargeant in the French foreign legion, so his stories are insane, and he teaches a lot of life lessons! That aside he does suffer from organisation issues (how ironic)

I guess what I'm trying to say is. I'm owed money but I feel like a dick asking for it (always felt a bit awkward about money) and I in no way want to risk the business or the lads jobs. It's a crap situation. Does it matter how long I leave it to be paid? Or am i owed the rest of the salary for as long as time exists? I've half written off the cash side of it.

I rang the other day and asked Benn to get him to call me back but nothing yet. I might pop in, but again I just feel like I am adding to problems.

I feel like such a fag, but its hard to explain when its such a small business.

ps- sorry for bad use of grammar, and capital letters etc. I rushed it, and just wanted to type it out, to get it all out my system

  3. Cool, cheers. I more had an idea of creating something myself to sell. I guess any CAD software will do as long as it can be saved in a format that suits the printer. I will give the google one a go and hopefully I can get the grip of it, and it can do what I want it to do.

  4. Looks amazing, is there a certain software or programme all these run off? I like the thought of designing products but I have no clue with 3D computer programmes. What is the best one to learn? It seems such a new technology to be available to the public that I am struggling to find the answers to all my questions.

  5. I personally wouldnt use that tattoo artist again. I'm not digging your design or the meaning etc but the execution just isn't up to par in my opinion.

If you love it though, then that is literally all that matters (Y)

  6. I may be missing the point but I just have whatsapp and have numerous group convos. I have one for football, bouldering, mountain biking, a festival one for this summer, hiking one for next month and just a general lash one with all the boys. And depending on what you are trying to arrange, talking about or who you want to talk to is the group convo you whack it in. Can start a new group in about 10 seconds if you want to leave one person out as its their birthday, and you want to plan a surprise for example.

My best mate lives in London, he will put in the large group one 'Anyone fancy London this weekend?' we all reply, and when we know who is keen. We usually start a new convo so the others dont get naused with all the messages.

edit: Just read the other post. I can see it being good for finding new friends to ride with maybe.

  7. I think most other styles of bike are weighed without them and are provided with shite pedals whatever the spec, as most people change the pedals to suit their needs. Eg- clip in pedals (whatever they are called) with the shoes n shiz.

....I'm probably wrong, but I just guess they are following the tradition.

I totally agree though, don't see the point in this instance

  8. Yours is probably one of the newer versions which had paint chipping problems as the case is metal. Mine is fine, along with I use a D3O case (its the one that uses that orange goo that takes impacts well) and I have dropped it many times at it just sounds fine when you drop it. Can hear its doing its job.

  9. oh nice, well from my experience with this, and thinking anything new 'should' be an improvement, I say go for it.

There are a lot of decent review sites out there that may already have their hands on it

  10. Basically I've seen a few people taking advantage of O2 priority moments, and it appeals to me. But is it worth it?

And also, I use Tesco currently and read a few places (albeit older posts) that you can just buy an O2 payg sim card, whack it in another phone, get the code and then enter it in your android priority app and it works as normal. Anyone know if this is still the case?

I have a better a deal with Tesco than I would get with O2 minutes and data wise but these offers appeal.

  11. If you had to choose one photo of your trials 'career' what would it be? It can just be a favourite photo (or even just a bike)....aslong as it tells a story and brings back memories then it is a winner. So put your favourite up, along with why.

    I'll go first...

I had a mate take a photo for me on my new phone just to check it out a few summers ago, and ever since I have loved it. I even have it as a small canvas in my room now. It somehow totally captures everything I have loved about trials. The drop itself in my early days was the first big drop I did and it took me ages to build to it. The drop is at my old school. Im on my all time favourite bike, set up the best it ever was. The photo is in summer. They were my riding shoes for most of my riding years. It was around the time I enjoyed riding the most and I personally think I look pretty 'decent'. So long after I finish riding trials I will still have this one photo, which for me, sums up my involvment in trials for the last 15 years. And when I am an old git and my grandkids are taking the piss because I can hardly walk, I will dig this picture out and tell them about what I used to do.

I'm aware trials doesn't mean as much to them as it does to me, even though i dont ride alot anymore but It's been a big part of my life since I was 11, and I am now 26. So through my whole 'growing up' trials has been a part of it.
