  1. I have mine pulling in a fraction past half way, I think this give you more control than having the brake biting instantly and allows you to pull it harder.
  2. I think that an avid BB7 is probably best but only slightly, I like the feel of a hydraulic brake so am gonna stick with my '07 mono trial and a 200mm disc!!
  3. One of those old bottom bracket tools will do the job mate!
  4. Hey danny nice little vid, looks like you have improved since the last time I saw you ride??
  5. I had two of the first ones (yellow, red, blue) and also a black one, the frames are really good, short and light. only prob with them is the rear disc mount aint too strong, the rest is sound though!! i got my hands on a Brisa B26D Eastern (gold-pimpy!!) and it wasnt that different to the giant but went back to the giant and seemed to ride better, probably in my head like!!
  6. Kool vid mate, looks like there are some good riding spots near you!!
  7. 20psi in the front, 25psi in the back......roughly!!
  8. i'd run a maggie on the back, real agressive, no disc to bend when you're side hopping!!! disc on the front makes some people ride a little bit smoother.......and you keep the paint or anodizing on your rim!!!lol!!! good in the wet as well!
  9. Right mate, its like hopping backwards on your back wheel, but instead of completing the hop backwards, you shift your weight over the handlebars during the hop and let your legs push backwards and up (they do this automatically, just concentrate on shifting your weight over the front!). Job done!!!
  10. Im a full time student at Sunderland UNI...with only three months to go!!! I work part time at Halfords in the Bikehut. Heres the crack with Halfords, Im just a part timer and really really dont care about my job!! Not that I dont do a good one whilst I am there though! In fact I spend most of my time throwing stuff into the over head fans because I'm so sick of having nothin to do, or taking the piss out of customers who take the piss out of me (because I work in a shop they treat me like S**t). Dont get me wrong though, working in Halfords is good crack, all the lads are sound!
  11. Yeah I did my forst comp (natural) not long ago and discovered I am in even worse shape than I first thought!! Still enjoyed it though!! I think I probably prefer street as it is easier, no pressure and lets face it, how often do you see fit birds, in short skirts and low cut tops out on the lash, cheering at you, when you're riding natural?? I'll leave it there!!!
  12. learn to wheel swap......just do an endo and find your balance point. When you start coming down away from your balance point, release your front brake and let the bike roll through your legs and pull the bars upwards (if you dont let the bike roll through your legs, your back wheel will miss the obstacle). Try to keep your body over where you want your back wheel to land and push you bck wheel to that spot. As usual this technique will differ with obstacles of different heights and types. Hope this helps?
  13. koxx browns are very good with a medium grind blue rock pads are really good as well!
  14. I think the echo brake levers will be a lot stiffer than the magura ones. I would have thort that the echo version might have had different size pistons or sumthin to make them more powerful but I haven't read anything saying that they have. The levers look pretty smart though!
  15. i was running koxx brown pads but now use blue rock pads. the browns were amazing especially in damp weather, not sure about the rock pads yet, maybe its the way my brake is set up?
  16. reet o fella, take ur BB out, take the bike/frame to a bike shop and get the threads "chased" that'll properly clean em out! clean the threads on the BB itself also and yeah, wack on some locktite! make sure you do put on some grease though. Lasty........give em some pasty when you come to tighten it up, you'll do well to strip the threads in your frame if you haven't cross threaded it from the start but you would realise straight away unless you a re a moron!!good luck!!
  17. right lads, ive noticed yu are all knocking mission and onza, but think about it....... its brands like those that get kids and new riders into trials and its brands such as those that are gonna help the sport develope! we need the sport to grow, think about it, as it gets bigger the more specialist places we're gonna have to ride, under cover and indoors, thats what you want!! no council is gonna build a trials specific park or area in any town for the sake of 10 riders, 15 riders, 20 etc. the reason we have football pitches every where is because there are loads of people that use em! so, give it a rest with "i hate mission, i hate onza"!!!! on the other hand yeah KOXX is bloody expensive! but i do like it!
  18. I've used short bikes for about 5 years (giant team trials, brisa B26D eastern, saracen MAD-version before current saracen, diamondback) and never had a problem with any of them. My riding style was smooth and influenced by all styles (comp and street, akrigg and hermance...). I now ride a toxsin '2' which has a 1085 wheel base and +20 BB. I can now sidehop higher, tap higher, switch higher..... I prefer longer bikes but any longer than 1085 and I think it would be too long, but thats just me! I will be riding a PHASES 1.1 in the new year which is a 1075 I think?? So we'll see what that rides like!!!! PEACE!
  19. hi, i dont think you can beat hydraulic rim brakes, they give the best feel and have the best stopping power. If you have a set of HS33s set up properly with a good set of pads on suitable to a ground or unground rim, they will be a more agressive break than anu V-brake and most disc brakes. You will not go back to V-brakes once you have tried HS33s.
  20. i started on a mission, 26" wheels, 14" frames that was bullt as an XC bike in local shop! i put a DMR ring thing on, some metal platform pedals, a set of X-lite handlebars and rode it! it was a horrible mint green colour but canny to start with!!!
  21. You lot have had some pretty bad injuries, broken legs and arms?!!! How do you manage it!!!! Ive been riding about six years and the worst i've had is a few twisted ankles! I did a tour of Saudi Arabia with MAD team in 2004 and fell off a 360 and cut my arm-needed stitches (first and only time!)
