  1. Anyone tried the new Try-all Croco Pads??

Yeah I've had mine on for a couple of rides now. probably not fully bedded in yet as they're quite a hard compound, they have worked well since I fitted them though. They seem similar to koxx browns but with more bite and hold. Browns were always my favoured pad before, but these seem even better!

I have them on an echo 07 rim with a sharp grind. The brake noise is fairly quiet (which I like) with a high pitched squeak as the wheel locks. Sounds almost the same as Plaz pads on a smooth rim...just quieter

    Definitely recommended (Y)

  2. I almost had a perfect chain length setup on my Marino with 382cs. I think I could run it without a tensioner but it would clank around to much for my liking. 74King type tensioners are awesome when you can get the almost perfect chain length.

Half of the links in your chain are upside down.

Probably doesnt make any difference. just looks strange.

  3. Has anyone tried one of these for a front tyre?

Only 460g. Could pinch flats be a problem? Even though it says otherwise. It just seems ridiculously light considering the tryall slick is heavier.

The continental rubber queen also looks a good choice as a rear tyre, 872g, supposedly good pinch protection and a tacky compound. I've ordered one of these but I'm a bit unsure about the front.

    opinions...?

  4. I was just looking back at some old photos and my bike had middleburns. I've only ever bought one pair and they are square taper. The photos are from 2002 so that makes them at least six years old, likely to be older than that though.

If I had to buy some more I'd go for the square tapers again without a doubt. The pair I have aren't showing any signs of rounding so it could be another 6 years before I have to worry about that.

I have snapped a bb axle though. But for the last 12 months I've been running a viz hollow axle bb and it seems fine.

Just make sure you use bearing fit on the tapers when you put your cranks on. And I always put a little on the crank bolt threads too as it will stop them working loose. Mine have never creaked!

  5. I wouldnt bother welding anything to the frame if I was you.

Welding alters the properties of ally. It will start off in a T6 state (very hard) but because of the temperatures the metal gets up to during welding it will become T4 and therefore soft. It will only be a matter of a couple of rides before it snaps off.

The whole frame will need heat treating which means all the paint has to be removed first.

  6. I ordered 2 pairs of magura CNC backings on the 14th of march, I've still recieved nothing. Not even an email. And thats after me sending him 3 emails asking whats going on.

I know I've paid for them as I have the reciepts from paypal.
