  2. Hi! i recently went sigle speed (and it feels great, although i was quite reluctant about it), and i didn't want to pay as much as a derailleur for a shitty tensioner, so i struggled to come up with an idea to make my own, so here it is.. i used: - a disc brake adapter (rear 160 avid bb7) - a metal plate from a cheap multi-allen-key-tool (or whatever you call one of these: http://www.bikexpert.ro/catalog/images/842.jpg ) (yes, i drilled a small hole in the frame - shitmano jockey wheel - part of a hs33 braze-on mount - spacer made of the lower part of a a v-brake mount (to center the bolt in the hanger hole. threads are stripped, since the pace of the vee mount and derailleur bolt are different) ta-dah: full bike pics: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....howtopic=127833
  3. quite impressive stuff on that vid. i liked it (gave you a 5 star )
  4. cool! thanks a lot for the post (and it's good that you gave a long answer). i already ride 24", i'm no expert in trials nor bmx, but i saw some live bmx action recently and it seems having 20" gives you a lot of maneuverability, and also you can bail easier, so i thought a bmx-trials hybrid might be a good idea. i'm not dropping it right yet, i'm super curious what J Trials 31 will say about his new bike. any videos you might give a link to that have streety mod riding?
  5. So, steve-a, you would suggest a 24" for a trials/bmxey bike rather then anything else...?
  6. how's the top-tube measured? from what to what? and to J Trials 31 , C'MON , PUT A PIC NOW, I'M REALLY CURIOUS
  7. hey, thanks for the replys! why i am asking this is because i want to compare mod geometry with bmx geometry (to see if a hybrid between the two would be the stupidest idea in the world or might actually work, somewhat like a 24"er)
  8. Hi! can anyone tell me what a standard wheelbase for a street bmx is? (i find this top-tube measurements). also, what's the bb rise usually for a street bmx, and fork offset... anyone...? thanks
  9. here's mine... (i don't keep icons on the right side because the monitor is a pivotal model, and it will rearrange those icons if i go to portrait mode and back again to landscape)
  10. thaks for the replys! by "concentrated" i mean smaller AND more stable by moving the bars backwards you mean leaning them back or getting a shorter stem? yes, i am quite short : ) 1,70m (5.6ft) EDIT: i leaned the bars backwards so that the logo faces forwards, and i must say it helped quite much on manuals. I rode a lot more confident. Bunnyhops still feel pretty weird but it helped a bit there also. (unfortunatelly my left hand slipped on a gap and now i must sit sideways on chairs.. but anyways..)
  11. Hi! i have a new setup for my 24" and i can't get used to bunnyhop right with it. My current geo is the same as the inspired (WB 1040, bb+35, CS385) but has a slacker headangle (unfortunatelly, but that's mielec..). ->blue-grey bike My previos setup had a geo around WB 1010, bb+15 CS, 372. -> dark green bike I could bunnyhop a lot easier with that bike. My question is: is it the geo of the frame (i'm referring to the bb rise especially)? is it the bb to bars difference of height (should i rise my handlebars)? is it just me not getting used to it ? i did though practice to get bunnyhops right again but couldn't manage to get to the point where i'm confortable with them. i also tried bunnyhopping on the bike of a friend and felt better (he has a similar geo to my previous bike). another thing i noticed about the new setup is that the sweetspot of manuals is more concentrated.. again, is this bb height or bar height influence? any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks mates! zoster
  12. Hi! i have a custom mielec 24" frame, which is ok as it is, but it might have a slightly better geometry with a shorter fork. Does any of you guys know if a mod fork can take a 24" wheel? thanks!
  13. it's a mielec custom (i might make a thread about the bike once i put the new brake in)
  14. i buy most of my bike parts from ebay. it's cheaper than in the local stores even with shipping tax. formula oro looks tempting, but it doesn't come with adapter and rotor so it isn't actually cheaper, is about the same price as the codes (not 5). i found out some more stuff about the code5/juicy lever , and seems to be ok. i think i'll go with the code but i'll think about it a bit more. i'll also have to decide if i'm going with a 7" or 8" rotor (considering the code 5 is already heavy, i'm not too pleased with the 8" choice but...) thanks to everyone for their imput!
  15. thanks mike, that does help. unfortunately is not so good news that you say the code code 5 is less powerful than the code.. to psycholist: are you referring to a particular model of formula oro? thanks
  16. Hi! I am currently running a BB7 7" on the back of my 24" bike. I used the default sinterized pads... wasn't too happy with them so i bought avid organic pads...a bit better but not quite happy with these either. I don't really like the feel in the lever, but that's not so important, what IS important is that ones in a while the grip slips - more than usual i mean... a few inches, and i don't want to ride with this stress in my mind. I did a bit of researching and the only options, considering my budget, are a 8" BB7 or a 7"(or 8" but i guess 7"is enough) avid code 5 (the "code 5" brake consists of a "code" caliper with a "juicy" lever). I'm considering the code 5 since i heard some really good stuff about the avid code brake , but that's a bit too expensive for my taste. (hope trials is out of question and i don't have mounts for v-brake or hs33s) any advice will be highly appreciated..

wow! quite amazing vid. i don't know how you manage to throw yourself head first towards a rail.. i see you ride gloveless, i was wondering what grips you are using..?
  19. holy sidewall !! do your pants tend to get caught in the front part of the saddle? cheers
  20. Hi guys, Could anyone do me a great favor and tell me what would the minimum distance between the brake mounts be in order to fit a 47mm rim with HS33 brakes? Pads width might also count so please mention uf they are 6mm thick or 8mm like the Heatsink white. Thanks a lot.
