  1. Tried using my old chain which is well worn but still having the same problem. It's definately not catching the tensioner as I have adjusted it and messed around with it loads. I'm pretty convinced its a problem with the surly sprocket just from looking at it. I'll be pretty annoyed if it is because it cost me about £20 and i'll bet I can't get a refund now its been used.
  2. I've got the heatsink 18t bash/sprocket, KHE collapse chain, 13t Surly cog on the back and a 74Kingz tensioner. All brand new. On my echo it worked perfectly and I had the tensioner set to up-tension which I liked. Built up my new Caisso frame today and had to add a link to the chain due to longer chainstays so had the tensioner set to down-tension. Started riding and the chains skipping every full turn. I investigated further and it seems that the chain pitch is different to that of the surly sprocket. As the chain feeds on to the sprocket every so often a tooth ends up trying to engage where the roller is in the chain. The chain line seems good. Is this just the bits that need bedding in together or have I got a problem? Any help would be gratefully received as i'm dying to get out on my new bike. Cheers, Sutty
  3. Cool mate, Cheers. Got all the bits ready to stick on the frame now. Changing to singlespeed at the same time. Should have it all ready in time for Fort Bill this weekend. Not competing but gonna go check out the standard of riding and how the comps are set out nowadays.
  4. Is that a 68 or 73 mm shell? Also, is the UN54 better than the LX Bottom Bracket (UN52 I think) as thats what I had lined up.
  5. Anyone know what size bottom bracket I'd need to run my square taper middleburn/heatsink cranks on a Koxx Caisso? Cheers for any help.
  6. Never really thought about changing just the bash. Cheers buddy, you've just saved me £100. The bash, sprocket and bolts are £45 from heatsink, happy days. I can get my long awaited front tyre and "coustsink" pads now. Cheers guys.
  7. I'm treating myself to a new frame soon and have decided to have a go at singlespeed. I never ever change gear and because I ride at the beach a lot my cassette and mech constantly have sand grinding away at them. I am using middleburns (square taper) at the moment and really like the cranks. I'm looking at upgrading to either the Middleburn RS7 super pro trials set (16t) or the middleburn/heatsink set (18t). I'd be interested in hearing peoples opinions on either set up. It's a toss up between the extra clearance of the super pro's (if any) and the ability to run a 1/8" chain with the heatsink. I'm also curious as to whether people prefer ISIS bottom brackets. Are there any advantages/disadvantages over square taper? If they're miles better I may as well upgrade all at the same time. Any advice/opinions would be appreciated. Cheers, Sutty
  8. My front rim is the machined echo rim (as shown in the pic). I've noticed a few people have drilled their sidewalls and stuff and was wondering about taking some material out of my rim. I was thinking about cutting out the slots that are machined in at the moment. The question I have is, Would the weight reduction be worth the effort and loss of strength. I'm not particularly hard on my front wheel but I haven't gone crazy about weight anywhere else on my bike. Any pros and cons anyone has would be gratefully received. Cheers, Sutty
  9. Usually I would but I've had it for months now. I haven't ridden it all that much due to being out of the country but it's still been used and is a good few months old. I've boiled the pads. No difference. Think they might be well contaminated with oil perhaps. May get some new pads and get the brake mount faced at the same time. Hope it works well after all that otherwise i'll be going back to maggies or trying a BB7.
  10. I think it's the 06 to be honest. It was one of the ones that 24/7 were selling on ebay that they had taken off the holroyds. Anyone know about boiling them? I may try it and if I see an improvement then buy some new pads.
  11. Okay. Yet another thread about a Hope Mono Trial thats not performing as it should. I got mine a few months ago and spent ages shimming it correctly. It bedded in ok and I was fairly happy with it. I've since started doing front wheel moves and its just not holding. I've searched on this endlessley and tried everything apart from facing the mounts. I've sanded the pads and brillo'd the rotor, I've rebled it, i've re-shimmed it and it's still crap. I ride stock and i'm about 90kg. i noticed in one of the threads that a few people had said that there is a massive difference between 160mm rotors and 180mm rotors and again to 200mm rotors and also 160 was too small for stock. I was convinced that mine was a 160mm but measured it and the inside diameter of the rotor is 160mm and the outside diameter is 180mm. Question one: What size disc do i have? Question two: Will facing my mounts and upgrading to a 200mm rotor make that much difference? It's going to cost a lot and I'm thinking about maybe going back to maggies. Any help would be gratefully received Cheers, Sutty
  12. Friday sounds good. I'll be at work till about 3 or 4 oclock. Do you want to come over here or do you want me to come down to Inverness? Give me a text on 07730510372 cos I'm going away this morning. Sutty Fine by me. The more the merrier. Let us know when you move.
  13. Sod's law. I'm away with the wife for a couple of days tomorrow. I'll be available thursday onwards. Think i'm gonna be at this trial at colpy quarry at the weekend. We'll definately meet up soon though
  14. Yeah. Bit lazy on the helmet front. Never used to be so dunno what went wrong. I've spoken to a guy from Inverness called Mike and we've arranged to meet up a few times but never got round to it, mainly due to me working. I'd definately be interested in meeting up with a few local riders as I don't know any at the moment. my email's sutty22@hotmail.co.uk if you want to get in touch. Just had a look at your profile. I see it's you I've already spoken to. We'll definately sort out a ride now I'm back home. Getting well fed up and well knackered riding on my own.
  15. My missus got a few pics of me riding by the sea. Thought I'd put them up to show everyone my little riding spot. It's a place called Hopeman, near Elgin in the north of Scotland, between Aberdeen and Inverness. I'm not doing any big stuff, just messing around.
  16. It's definately a bike that wants to be ridden. I've had absolutely no nonsense with it since I got it. I'm well happy with it.
  17. Yeah I think the stem looks s**t too. Only problem is the geo of it works well for me. I do have a nice 0 rise Echo stem which I might fit once my riding improves a bit. Have to see what happens.
  18. Just thought I'd put up a couple of pics of the noble steed. It's mainly second hand bits but i'm not too fussed at the moment cos I'm just riding it hard as I'm getting used to trials again after about five years off. Frame-Echo Control 04 Forks-Echo 06 Cranks-Middleburns Rear Wheel-Chris King ISO on a Try all drilled rim with a maxxis CC trye Front wheel-Echo hub and rim with a Tioga 2.1 Rear Brake-Magura HS33 Front Brake-Hope Mono Trial Bars-Adamant risers I love the plain look. No stickers and it doesn't look at all pimped. It's well used and abused and looks it too but it does the job and does it well. It may not be to everyones taste but suits me fine. Cheers for looking, Sutty

    Venue Closure

I'd definately join the campaign to keep it open. I'm from Silsden and although I live in Scotland now I spent almost every weekend of my teens up addingham moorside riding till my fingers bled. It may be a good option for a representative to speak to this guy and find out exactly what is causing him a problem. If he is only bothered about cars parking/driving along the road we may be able to meet him halfway and arrange an off road parking area in the bottom corner. This would keep cars off the road. If we could find out his exact reasons for complaint we could then begin to offer solutions. I've gone up against people like this before (usually with regards to riding trials) and trying to outright fight them on something like this probably won't work. If we show him we are prepared to compromise and meet half way he may well co-operate a little bit more. This will also help if it gets to the stage of speaking to a local MP as it will show we are prepared to co-operate and help resolve the situation. Definately get a petition on the go as well. That will give an indication of how much the moorside means to so many people on a national and even international scale. Cheers guys, Sutty.
  20. After using a magura forever I've recently moved to a mono trial and at first I hated it. Now I've got used to it I love it, the modulation is great. It took me a while to get it shimmed correctly but it payed off in the end. I thought mine was spongy at first but realised it was the caliper flexing on the mounts. This feels awful if you're used to maggies but I found that once the disc was locked it was locked and no extra power was required so didn't continue to pull the lever as you would with a maggie.

  22. Well I tried winding in the grub screw and it worked great. The brake feels awesome now and it still needs some bedding in yet I think. Cheers for all the advice guys.
  23. I'll give that a try tomorrow see if theres any change. Like you said, ringing them is a good idea I thought that was only for lever travel but I have actually read somewhere else that it improves the brake so will try that as well. Thanks for the tips guys, I'll let you know how I get on.
  24. Went out riding tonight and they felt loads better so hopefully they should have bedded in by the end of the week. Only problem now is they are squealing quite loud but i'm hoping that will go as they bed in and leave me with that lush low grunt sound.
  25. That's pretty much what I've done so I'll get out riding on it tomorrow down the beach to bed it in and see how it is then. If it's no better after that I'll start re adjusting the shims. Cheers, Sutty
