  1. Another 2 parts: To complete the bottom bracket area; I'll be doing the pedal & crank bolt tomorrow if I'm not feeling too ill. I can feel a cold coming on Rob.
  2. Thanks T-Limburn!! Really appretiate your comment & opinion on my work Really thinking about chucking together some sort of portfolio in 2011...
  3. Glad you all like what I'm doing here. Makes me want to finish it even more Glad you spotted that!!. There is actually weld on the left side, you can just about see it in a pevious render above. I just forgot to mirror the base mesh to the other side Cheers Almost 100% right.. I made the base mesh to be quite consistant to start with. Then I applied a noise deformer to vary the height and width slightly, I then applied the displacement map and done a few test renders to make sure all was looking as realistic as possible with no anomalies Here's a pic of some of the base meshes used for the weldif you haven't seen them already.
  4. A little Update Yea the forum I posted that bike on. It's quite a good place for modelling etc. Ah, well I'm in the UK. And I'm 25, so internships aren't really an option
  5. Well I'm not in the 3D industry. It's only a self-taught hobby unfortunately... I'd like to do it as a job one ay, but haven't a clue how to get into it or where to go. Especially with no qualifications in the field of 3D.
  6. 8 Days so far. Average 6hrs a day. Probably take several more weeks yet (Hopefully) Facebook album of this bike's progress HERE (Just Pictures. Newest at the end) And an album with some of my best work from the last 5yrs or so HERE
  7. First of all I'd like to say thanks for all the great comments, it's given me even more drive to finish it now, and I did not expect this kind of response at all, so thanks again, it means a lot Below are a few replies to those who asked specific questions etc. Ah right, yea I thought they were, which is why I made them 5mm in the begining, but the bolts measure approx 4-4.5mm in diameter And now you mention it I do recall the disc mounts being threadless But on the plus side, it is sooo much easier to just put a hole through it as opposed to thread; oh how thread modelling sucks! lol.. These two things will be the next things I'll sort out. Thanks for the info Adam Cheers.. Oh yea? Are you on threedy at all?.. Nope, I actually use Cinema 4D. It's the only 3D package I know & use. I also render with it. Yea I still ride when the weather's good. Me, Scott & Jacob are the only regular riders in Clacton now, all the others have sold up to keep thier cars or some other financial limb lol. tut tut I've been doing 3D modelling for 8yrs now. And I've been doing this particular model for 8 days Thanks Yea I enjoyed testing weld methods, they changed after that test though; to a better modelling method, but I used the same texture to create to weld bumps. I only plan to do stills thus far. But who knows what'll happen I'm actually measuring everything. The bike is living in my room at the moment
  8. Hey all Well I've decided to do something different seeing as the snow's stopped play I decided to make my bike in 3D, which is one of my other hobbies.. Gotta do something to keep the brain busy ain't I lol Sound interesting? Click HERE Enjoy Guys. Rob.
  9. Well I'll be down about 10:30 at the pier if it's not raining.. I have to ride 6miles to get there lol.. I'll be on the Python 09.. See you there if you go.. Otherwise I'll have a nice ride on my own Hope to see someone down there.. Chow for now
  10. Well I'll definitely be there providing a few others will be.. I have the day off work so.... Post up if you're definitely going to be at the pier around 10:30am...
  11. Right... I'm off work on Saturday and Sunday so I'm there Saturday for definite providing it's not chucking buckets So I'll see you at the pier at 10:30 lads
  12. Oooo, Saturday 14th.. I will have to chat to my boss about it as Im only starting work on the 9th lol, but hopefully I'll be able to come along seeing as I live a few miles from the pier lol...
  13. You might not get much attention on this one as a lot of people may well be going to the 1st March ride in London, so they'll wait until then
  14. Haha, My bike has shrunk since then Got same but in Mod, Zoo Python 2009 Hehe.. I'm really hoping to come to this ride from Clacton.. But I'd probably be the only one .. Cause the other 3; one has given up trials to pay for his car modding.. Another one broke his hand in December and re-broke it the other day.. And the 3rd has no bike cause he needed money to get licence and car sorted out.. It sucks!!! lol.. Fingers crossed I can come down though
  15. I found the shape of my bars made a massive difference.. I did use Zoo risers that had barely any upward or backward sweep. Got wrist ache all the time.. I now use Trialstech Sport Riser bars, and they have a greater sweep angle so your wrists are straight instead or forced inward due to the bars being almost flat (If you know what I mean) I've had no problems with wrists since.. Oh, and I've reduced my lever angle too.. They used to be about 45 degrees from horizontal.. They're both about 25-30 degrees from horizontal now.. That also helped with balance somehow, & I no longer get blisters on my index fingers unless I ride all day.. (8-10hrs) Rob.
  16. My method: I use a grinding disc... I Screw a crappy bolt in to the wheels spindle, Clamp the bolt tightly in a vice so the wheel's horizontal.. (Or you could just clamp it back in your frame without the tire on) Spin the wheel, have the grinder at 90 degrees to the rim and away you go.. Because its a grinding disc you wont go through the rim by accident. And because the wheel is spinning, the grind will be even all the way round.. The disc can even make the wheel turn if you get it right The faster the wheel, the coarser the grind I've found.. And you can also press down on the rim quite hard with the grinder to increase the roughness.. Because the wheel's spinning, it doesn't gouge chunks out.. Well, That's my way anyway Rob.
  17. Cheers buddy, glad you like it.. I still cant believe it's mine to be honest Yea, the gusset 180mm rotor is amazing! I have the same one on my Pitbull that works nice, but the same sized Gusset rotor on a mod is stunning.. Instant lock when you need it without effort (My proof is no more blisters on my right index finger) and perfect modulation too.. Might not all be down to the rotor, but I can say that it gives better braking than normal rotors that have more surface area.. Plus the saw effect of the Gusset is quite pleasing on the eye too..
  18. I know, that question has come up before.. I'm gonna be removing the 74Kingz bash ring soon.. that weighs 95g.. I may try it with no ring at all or get the Echo SL quarter ring, thats only 19g.. It's just for when I go up at an angle onto something to keep the chain and FFW from contacting things.. The drive is the bit I like to protect first and foremost. I dont fancy breaking both wrists like whats-his-name did The bash plate weighs about the same as the ring, but landing on the plate is more balanced for obvious reasons.. But I barely use it anyway, it's just there as a precautionary measure incase I need to use it.. Ah cheers mate, that's cool .. And yes, higher rise is a lot kinder to the back. More natural riding pose, easier to pull up & more balanced on the rear..
  19. Yep But I much prefer the Python over the Pitbull.. On the Pitbull I tire too quick, it feels too big, I'm less precise, My Pitbull is 11.1Kg where this Python is 9.730Kg... Mods are sooooo much more fun to do technical stuff too And also thanks to everyone else who's commented..
  20. You may have already seen this when Adam @ Tarty posted it up as a new Python '09 build.. But I see that thread after the thread died down so I just wanted to post it under my name to see what you think from my pics....
