  1. Pretty much exactly that yeah. I polished it up then lacquered it... which might not have abeen a great idea as the lacquer isn't too durable, if i was gonna do it again i'd wire woll the frame after polishing most of it so the lacquer would stick a bit better.

Cool, Cheers.. Just thinking though; Wouldn't the wire wool ruin the polished/shiny look of the final result?

Well it might make a nice project for me in the future, I'll do the forks too :shifty:

Really? Looks like the stem is about 25-30 degrees... and theres a spacer under it. I thought mine was bad at 130mmx15degrees and i'm 6'5"
I just measured it, it's 130mm x 20degrees, so in theory it should be

enough for my average 5'11".... But then, you go with whatever you feel comfortable with so, I'll see how I get on with it.. Can only get better right?

EDIT: How much Nitromors did you use on your frame? Oh & what grade of wire wool would you recommend? Fine or medium?..

I'm just looking about for what's needed to do my frame & forks :- You've got me at it now :Plol

    Thanks mate

    Rob.

  2. Wow your bike has certainly changed since I last saw you Rob, it was like two weeks old and was in similar condition.

I imagine your going big now man?

Bike does look lush, perhaps I'll see it again in Clacton.

Hello matey.. Yea I've just gone mad with it lol.. I thought why not, I now know others who ride locally, plus I have the money this year to spend on it, so...

But yea, I'll probably see you in clacton at some point mate... Im going to St Osyth sea front on friday so I'll have a good days riding there and most likely go along to clacton too.. So should be fun. :)

Yeah sorry, that sounded a bit harsh

    (spraying frames a right laugh)

No worries mate, I guessed you wasn't being harsh :)

..Yea spraying a frame can be a laugh cant it >>HERE<< Nice job by the way, Looks edgy and unique, I like :)

But yea anyway, back to my frame... I saw pics of your T-Rex [The Beast] Last night, and I like it.. How did you get that finish? cos im'a liking it alot :P Did you nitro, polish, & laquer it or what? Please enlighten, Im clueless lol.. :$

It does look sweet though, and i'm guessing your pretty tall or REALLY like to make bunnyhops easier with that amount of rise and a stem stacker too

Well you say that, but it dont seem to have much rise :S I was gonna get new bars to get a little more but I dont wanna spend anymore on it unneccessarily.. I'd add my other 2 spacers if I had the room on the forks >_<

    Cheers

    Rob.

  3. Looks really nice man! I like it!

If Im not mistaken, that pic looks like it was taken in St Osyth (Y) I might be going down there on friday 7th to ride (as long as the weather's nice..) :)

how do you like that DMR tensioner?

I don't know about Alain, but I run the same tensioner, and they're pretty sweet.. I need to tension mine another notch though, but yea they're great & it works perfectly for me..

  4. Hey guys, Thanks for the great comments. You've made me feel good about my bike :)

Right, I've got 8 up-to-date pictures for you.. Taken with my Sony DSC-F828 8MP Digicam this evening at about 19:15 :P

You may notice a few fabric plasters on the cranks and bash ring... These are to cover scratches and limit future scratches :D

It needs bit of a dust off in places, but here it is...

    Enjoy... (Y)

  5. That's a really cool bike, but are you sure it's an 04'? I think I have an 04' and it still has the seat thing on it. The frame is still the old style.

When I see the auction for it, it said it was an 04' :ermm: And HERE'S how my bike looked when I got it lol.... It's got threaded bolt holes to put a seat clamp on it. But I havn't got it, or want it really :) Your T-Rex looks like the gold 02' version (I think 02') I wanted about 4 years ago... I wanted the blue verison back then though :D hehe.... Blue HERE Gold HERE

    Nitromors, It's a paint remover (Y)

Oh Right, I know what he meant now.. Cheers (Y)

Looks awsome matey! Love the black sidewalls on the rims, look preety stealthy.

Hehe, yea, It might look it; but with a Hope Pro2 hub clicking away & Zoo pads on a rim that's got a dash of tar on it... It's not very stealthy at all :D annoying for some riders, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do right?.. :rolleyes:lol

    Thanks guys!

    Rob.

  6. How long is your left hands fingerererers? or do you not hold onto the grip :S .

    Looks nice anyhow.

    Matx

The lever actually looks further away in the pictures :) but I have the outside of my hand at the edge of the bar and I can use the brake easily with one finger :turned:

Thats is pure sexual, i bet that rides sweet, you have done a nice job there mate. And please dont get zoo bars flat bars and that stem are amazing, dont be a sheep and get zoo bars because everyone else has them.

hmmm, I am sick of removing my grips & then having to put them back on with hair spray everytime.. Plus it'll cost another £35.. I went for a ride today and it's not as hard to pull up now I have a lighter front end..

man that looks loads better since i last saw it, maybe sand it down then give it a full black spray job, i dunno if those onza graphics are nything like my ones on my t-comp, but mine were like part of the paint and i had to sand it down to the bare metal,

    anyways, looking lush mate (Y)

Cheers mate (Y) I'm gonna leave the frame for now.. If I was to have it rubbed down & resprayed I'd want it done properly.. I've done it before, and it took me 2-3 days to get to bare metal, then several coats of paint and laquer (with atleast 6hrs between each) It still chipped really easily. So i'll leave it.. It's more likely that I'll get another frame before I do that anyway lol..

The t-rex graphics are easy enough to get off. Nitro them!

    Nitro them???

  7. Pretty darn sexual haha i like the tarty stickers keeping your cables neat :D

:D Haha, yea, that was a quick fix from when I bailed in southend.. The bars done a 180 and snapped the cable tie that was there

Luckily I was carrying about 15 Tarty stickers with me :shifty:lol

That's so darn nice, the only thing I would change if it was mine are the bars,I'd get some black zoo's.

Personal preference really I just don't like the feel of the flat bars.

nice is too small a word, F****** FIT AS should do the trick :)

Thanks for the great comments so far.. (Y) I really weren't expecting much, but it seems the bike looks good to you guys.. which was a pleasant surprise.

Oh and I might take your advice 'zoo'... Im gonna get some Zoo Riser Bars from tarty, Were they the ones you meant? HERE

I need a bit more of a rise anyway.. It's an effort to get up onto the rear wheel, but once your up, it's fine.. So every bit of rise would help.

    Thanks

    Rob.

  8. Hey peeps! (Y)

I've spent quite a bit on it and i've changed everything apart from the frame, forks and rear HS33..

  9. Haha, I ride past all that when I ride to clacton & the clacton rides :D I never ride there apart from just riding along the seawall.. lol

Well I never really see it as a trials spot untill I see your photos... It might also be because it's boring to ride alone

I only live 3-4 Miles from St Osyth Beach... I might have to make it more of a regular riding spot now I've had some inspiration

Nice photos anyway mate (Y) Might see you down there next time you plan to ride there... Let me know yea?..

    Rob.

  10. cool vid, that guy with the t-rex has the shittest back brake ever

:D It weren't that bad.... They're the new version of the Zoo pads  That was the first day I got to use them properly so Im still running them in.. Plus a new rim... and it dont help when you use tar with them (N)

haha, that bail at the end was awsome! :D

Im glad my bail was entertaining for you all anyway  Im getting a lid soon, so with any luck my confidence in things should increase slightly, and my number of bails should decrease..... but we'll see about that lol..

    Nice video (Y) Cheers Scott

  11. A Topic about my bail... :o

Well Im glad you all liked it ;) I call it.... Falling with style... lol

But yea, like Ash said, I came up short on the rail and didnt have either the energy or the bottle to attempt recovery..

I'll do it next time though! And I'll do the 3 white walls where I also bailed on the 3rd wall <_< Damn brake slipage lol..

Thank for creating the topic Joe (Y)

    Rob.

  12. Hey guys!

I've just been verified so thought I'd just let you know I'm coming with Scott and co. from Clacton, as long as my new rear wheel, tyre and drive train turn up from Tarty on the 26th.....

So fingers crossed and hope to see you all there.. It's gonna be a good one (Y)

    Rob..

  13. Nothing wrong with square taper BBs though

Oh yea I know there isnt really, just my other cranks are ISIS :P BB should turn up tomorrow(Friday) with any luck so I can go to the saturday clacton ride with them.

Sorry, didn't mean it as a 'you're a beginner, so it will be fine', it was more a general statement

No worries, Unless we know someone personally or have seen their videos, we cant really know their level of progress :)

Anyway, Im gonna shut up now, got to leave some room for peoples bike pics now :turned: I dont want to be told to chit chat elsewhere...

    Bye..

  14. Onzas aren't that bad - for a cheap starter/entry level build they're surprisingly good

T-Rexs are built like a tank too, so will take a beasting - perfect for learning trials!

    Sounds like a plan

Look nice stripped and polished (check out a few dotted around in the Full Members Bike Pics thread), and perhaps with some custom graphics thrown on too...

If you like the way the bike rides, there's not really much need to change parts other than to upgrade/replace broken bits

Take your time doing what you feel is necessary and you're onto a winner :)

Yea Im finding it a pretty solid bike.. Upgraded the bars to get more rise etc, changed bars because they fit the stem plus they're thicker in the center and feel more reliable :) The BB felt too skinny, it was a tapered square one  The cranks are nicer and more beefy than the standard ones... Oh yea, when I took off the old onza arms, the right one was 175mm and the left 170mm :S Is that normal?? :S

    perfect for learning trials!

I'd say it is yea.. But I've been riding trials since I was about 14 (Im 22 now) :D I'm average, but I'd say I still have a bit to learn though ^_^ like side hopping up more than a 18inch, wheel swopping etc.. :) everything else is easy enough.... I'll get it all some day :)

  15. Some really nice bikes there guys!!

urghhhh onza, standard with reflectors, take of the stickers put on wider bars, better cranks, instantly 10 times better (like a coust copy)

LOL :D I had only had it 48hrs when I took these pics & it's my first "proper" trials bike that wasn't built from crap MTB parts :P:) And just to let you know I have changed the bars and stem to Try-all ones (same width 27") Added a Tensile Booster on the rear, Changed the BB to FSA ISIS, and cranks to Truvativ Hussefelt.... The reflector are off too lol :D

Taking the stickers off sounds quite cool actually (Y) They are quite scratched up from being handled badly when being delivered <_< I'll have a think about doing that

But here's the better pic I said I'd take... BEFORE the upgrade though.. It's been dull weather to take new pics since, and Im working loads too :(

    robstrex2ks3.jpg

  16. I've just seen the weather outlook on the BBC website and it does look to be nicer on saturday:rolleyes: I'll talk to my manager about changing my day off to Saturday, but it could be a problem as its the busiest day of the week down here on the holiday park :( but I will try and let you'll know tonight.. Fingers crossed he'll be nice to me lol :D

    Bye for now guys..

    Rob.

  17. Heya Ash,

Well you know I'll be there :) Gotta get riding with some other peeps to try to improve my riding...

I'll see all you guys there.. I'm looking forward to it :D

    Rob.

PS: Have you put a link to this "pre-members" thread in the main clacton 3rd June "members" thread? It would be handy for those who cant post in the full members thread and for those who find that thread before this one. :) I just found this one by chance cos I was bored and looking through lol :)

  18. Hey all, Here's my bike:

An "Onza T-Rex - 2004 Model" Only got it the other day (18th May) Got it 40% less than retail price too :P It rides really nice compared to my old custom chuck-together "Saracen Exile"

I'm debating whether to change the bars and stem to the "Try-all" ones I had on my old bike :ermm: (they're only 12 months old and used about 3-4 times) I'll get about 30mm extra rise and 30mm extra forward.. Would you say that would be better??

Anyway, here it is... Excuse the mess, it's my grandparents back yard :turned: I'll take better ones at some point.

    sidesb7.jpg

    abovesidejh7.jpg

    siderearsb2.jpg

I'm going to test it out tomorrow(22nd May) Right along the seawall from Seawick to Clacton (If the weather is nice) :D

    Cheers,

    Rob.

  19. Hey Guys, (Y) New to the forum (Did you guess?) :D Thought I'd have a rant :)

    Well... My worst injuries were....

    (1) Stock Trials:- Riding along a sea wall with a little 45 degree flower bed in the corner, went to put my front wheel onto the 1 brick wide wall of the flower bed that was slightly lower, and missed it, (unexpectedly ofcourse) Wheel went right down to the main floor (Red Arrow in image) I hit my head on the 45 degree part of the wall (Yellow Arrow in image)...(God knows what would of happened if it was a right angle) I got up and felt the back of my head where I thought I'd hit it. I looked up and my mate who was with me, He said "Oh crap man, your eyebrow!" My left eyebrow was massively swollen. Luckily I didn't fracture anything, but I had a nice shiner for over a week. People were asking if I had got beaten up, I said "Yea I did... By a wall":D When pinched, my left eyebrow is twice as thick as my right one :) Not noticable in general though....

    seawallinjuryae5.jpg

Oh, I do 3D modelling too, This is a quick mock up of the scene so you can picture it :)

    (2) 20" BMX:- Whilst standing up and pedaling down a gentle hill at about 15-20Mph, my chain came off, my left foot slipped off the pedal, and went under the rear wheel, I went down to the left, straight onto the pavement, onto my elbow.....:S I got up in immence pain, bent my arm, and see a void and the bone..... The void then filled with blood >_< It was as painful as the eyebrow one, maybe more.. I now have a dark scar 1" x 1/2" on my left elbow..

No broken bones so far (Touch Wood)(Fingers Crossed)....

I've had plenty of Shin-Pedel Scrapes.. I think they're the main signature of bike trials. :D Plenty of dead knees (The funny bone part) :)

And blisters on my hands.. Well I have at the moment because I've only just started riding again after a year out (New Bike :P w00t... I get really bad calluses on my hands too, but thats expected doing trials:-

    Regards,

    Rob.
