  2. i don't ever get any bother with anyone trying to nick my bike, i'm 6'3" and 17 stone. but the downside is that i break bikes, and will never be as good as all you skinny gits!
  3. if it's realy cheap you could get it tig welded and try it.
  4. did you put the piston back in the right way round, are the rings the right way up? did you check the jets (idle and main), has the woodruf key in the flywheel sheared?
  5. thanks for the input guys, i think i'll spray the frame to tidy it up a bit, then build up from there. i'm going to sell the leftovers, will i get zapped for asking for help with the priceing, what with being a new member and the no forsale posts in this section. i don't want it to look like a covert forsale post!

  8. thanks guys, i'l give it a real good look over.
  9. going to look at a second hand gu typhoon today, anything i should look out for? i'm talking cracks, dents, stressed areas.
  10. i've had a few sets of older maguras, and the best by far wer the old 10th anniversery ones, they were awsome, they came with cnc levers and braded hoses. the only thing was that someone had pinched the cnc boosters out of the box. i'm not bad at setting maguras up, but i have had v brakes just as good, and canti's too. i find hydrolic brakes a bit on/off, i like the feel you get with cables.
  11. if your in bridgend wales, i've got an onza tpro you can try out. let me know and i'll fetch it up for you to try.
  12. so just general build quality then? i noticed they have 20th aniversery models out at the mo, i had 10th aniversary ones when they came out, god i'm old
  13. yeah but why?, a raidial master cylinder should give more power, i just can't see the problem with them.
  14. i get the impression that people don't like them, whats the story?
  15. sounds like the kickstart might be worn
  16. neath has a few bits and bobs to ride, it is a bit spread out though, the town center seems to be looseing interesting rideing spots, once i've got a bike i'll go get my bearings again lol get it planned out for if any of you guys fancy a blast down here.
  17. i first converted a bike for trials type rideing in 1990, it was a 16" emmelle, i ditched the gears and ran it single speed in 1st gear lol
  18. hopeing to get myself a bike asap, need some tidy riders to learn from. also do any of you guys know dai howells from neath? he was rideing an ashton and a uk24 when i spoke to him last.
  19. i've never had a chance to own a ty, good bikes though, i've worked on a few. i used to be a mechanic in a mx specialists, so i did work on the od trials bike aswell. the last beamish i had was a 325, god it had some guts in it. much more poke than the 250. i sold it along with 2 250s at the begginning of this year, stupid wifes fault, but it's all good cause i've thrown her cheating ho ass out now lol. my little boy will be 5 in april so i want to get him started, i'll get my tig welder out and build a frame for him. he'll love that, i just hope he hasn't inherited his mothers crap ballance. i might have a bike by tonight, not the gu i mentioned before buy something rideable. if and when i sell my target gun i'll get something better.
  20. i really don't mind, i'll have a go at anything. i've also ridden motorcycle trials, i've had 4 beamish suzukis, a beta, a gas gas and a montessa.
  21. no i want a mod, i feel quite comfortable rideing one. all the stock bikes i've had and ridden feel too long.
  22. thanks for the replys guys, i have riden trials before. for a very long time infact, i stripped my first mountain bike down to the bare bones for trials in about 1990. converted bmx's, made frames, spent a fortune on spacific stuff later on. but i've just got out of a 5 year marrage, i've barely ridden for all that time. need to get back at it now, get my life back lol. i'm hopeing to rase between 3 and 6 hundred to buy a bike, so hope to get something tidy. a boy up the road from me is selling a gu, i'll try and see him tommorrow and see what he wants for it.
  23. hi everyone, been out of bikes for a few years, but have got the bug again. i'm after getting a mod set up, but i'm 16 stone and 6'3", i could do with some suggestions on strong parts to look out for. all help gratefully recieved. also anyone on here in south wales? could do with some rideing tips to start off again. cheers Ben
