  1. Only a short vid, but it would appear Rick's winter training has been paying off, big moves with more ease than ever!

    Youtube vid

  2. So what if the rear wheel goes suddenly?

Apparently it did once or twice. There were some incidents involving spikes in spokes I believe! haha

And the first time he tried it his front went and he face-planted the grass!

The line is actually slightly harder than it looks too, but I'll leave the video to show what I mean :).

  3. Thought I'd share this with you all, some super smooth riding and nice and chilled editing. Well worth taking a break from Friday afternoon work to have a watch! It's the first in a mini-series of videos that Simon will be releasing. All feature some great riding by Thomas at various locations (including natural training, World Cup competition footage and general street/rocks riding).

Head to Trialtech.co.uk for the download link (170mb by the way, working on a slightly smaller version so I'll update the topic when that's available). MP4 format, plays in VLC version 0.9.4 and some versions of windows media. Vimeo version is HERE!

  4. Hey everyone,

Just a quick post to let you know that the new Trialtech website is now online!

Until now product information and pictures have only been available via Trialtech dealers, and rider information/media has filtered through forums. The new Trialtech site aims to bring all of this together in to one place, with detailed product information and photos, International rider information and media, as well as general news updates about all things Trialtech!

  5. Few more piccies for you....

Only the first prototypes, so nothing is set in stone and there's already a couple of tweaks planned for production models. :)

Geo is 'standard' 26" geometry of 410mm length, 45mm rake, so will work perfectly with any frame intended for use with '26"' geometry forks.

  6. As Bigman kindly mentioned, white bars are on the cards, just a delay in finishing at the factory. They're set to arrive in the UK the week starting the 28th :).

Also, forks will be arriving at the same time (Y). They'll be available in disc only (+20 disc mount position for 26") or reverse Magura mount only. Anodised matt black with a laser etched Trialtech logo down the non-disc side leg. A few people will have seen them on either Waddy's bike or Thomas Oehler's, the production versions will look pretty much identical, just a small tweak to the steerer design at the bottom.

    Ta,

    Dave :)

  7. Sweet video. Loved all the techy lines and the smooth controlled style, but it's easy to over-look just how big some of the up and gaps etc were!!

I feel a UK ride weekend coming on! hehe

  8. RIP Janson. I only got to meet you in person once, at Nass, but you were always helpful and kind on MSN.

A great loss for trials, a guy who helped trials cross language and nationality boundaries just by being a great guy.

    RIP.

  9. Depending on how you run your bars (how far forward they are angled), sounds like you need a 10mm longer stem or so to compensate for you being used to bars with more rise (that translates to reach if you tilt them forward)? I'm guessing it'll be the 'reach' issue rather than the actual shape of the bars you're having funny feeling with?

  10. Just got an email through from Rick. He's been doing his best to train 'as normal', he's got an injured finger from the Worlds (6 stitches in his little finger), but it doesn't seem to be holding him back much! hehe

I still need to get to the bottom of where he was going off that post in the sea! haha. I'll let you know when he replies back.

    Ta,

    Dave

  11. I'm feeling pretty sick. I didn't know Beau that well, but we had a few good chats together over the phone when I was working at Tarty Bikes. Met him on the DJ ride the other week and he was a sound guy, not a bad word to say about anyone.

R.I.P. mate, hope the riding up there is good.

  12. Just got a txt from Ben Savage and then just saw the results here!!

Big congratulations to Ben for getting to the final and even managing to draw with Benito!! Awesome riding!

Also congratulations to the new 26" World Champion, Gilles Coustellier! It's been a while coming a win for him of this magnitude, but it was only a matter of time :).

  13. am i wrong is that the stem that they used to puton the giant nrs carbon bikes?

Quite possibly, can't remember where Ali got it on. He was having a short stem phase, but he's seen the light now and got a Sport forged stem on (lighter too, and he cracked the front clamp on his Giant), he knows it makes sense! ;)lol

  14. Unfortunately it's really hard for me to explain the geometry in relative terms, compared to what it's possible to relate to :(.

Here's a piccy of Ali C's proto bars, just give you a better idea of their 'true' shape.

    Ali-Bars-Prototype.jpg

Yessssssssss. Mint stuff. Really like the new ½, ½ bash (hope I'm making vague sense here...). Rims with square holes look mint, mag pedals are the dogs...

On my new cycle in a few months time I'll be sporting quite a lot of this stuff... Namely - Stem, Riser bars, spacers, sprockets, bolts and grips. With uncertainty over - Bash, Rims (not uncertain, but will get when the rims the bike comes with gives up...) and ermmmmm yeah think thats it!

You have been a busy boy Dave!! Is this it or will there be more?

    Thanks! :)

Oh I'm not finished yet, not by a long way! ;)

  15. The shape on the squared out rims looks real good. I mean the actual rim shape itself. And it's a brushed/ raw finish i'm guessing which looks great too.

Anyhow what's the geo on the risers bars? And why did you stick them nasty looking graphics on the flat bars? Well i don't like 'em anyway.

Haha, the graphics on the flat bars was done before I decided to shelve that graphic style. I quite like them, they are just a bit more 'complicated' and bold than the rest of the logos. Lesson learnt for future though :).

  16. It's been a while, so there's a ton of product news for you all! :)

Maybe grab a cuppa, this might take a while! hehe

As many of you will have seen, there has been a double-sided Sport UCI bashring available for a while now. After a few riders mentioned they would like to see a single sided version, and a few even cutting their Trialtech bashring in half (Kenny Belaey being one), thought it best to do something about it...

    Sport-UCI-Halfring.jpg

7075 aluminium, built in freewheel spacer, just 20g!!

    Next up, rims...

There are Sport rims for both 20 and 26" wheel bikes in 4 different colours and 32h only. There is also a square or round hole option for the front rims (saving around 50g on a 26" rim!!). Twinned laser logos at both valve hole and join.

    Square hole front rims:

Round holes, as above but traditional circle cut outs (same colours as above are available).

Rear rims available in all the usual colour too, double wall, 47mm wide.

Keeping with the wheels theme going....

Front and rear Sport hubs (20 or 26" rear available, 20" with a slightly longer axle to ensure perfect fit and performance with chain tensioners/snail cams) are available in both stylish gloss white and classy but subtle matt black. All hubs feature the finest quality SKF sealed bearings, if you're not familiar with these, ask any engineer what bearings they recommend for quality and 9 times out of 10 they'll say SKF. As far as bearings go, there is hardly anything better! Steel serrated axle ends and double freewheel/sprocket threads for the rear hubs. The front hub also features a 'beefed up' 10mm disc mount.

And the much anticipated Sport riser bar. Tested and used by Stan Shaw, Ali C and Sam ‘Waddy’ Waddington, these bars have proven a great hit with anyone who has tried them. 7075 material, 29” width, 310g, arguably the best all round trials bar available? We’d like to think so. Available in black or silver anodized finish, with gloss white powdercoat versions available shortly.
