  1. I actually really liked what you have put down here. Lets face it, if you don't think you can do a move, you're more likely to not make it. We all get caught up in it sometime, but the mental state of thinking positive, and a way out of a bad experince or ride, helps tremendously. Thanks
  2. How about giving her a massage... She gets to feel good, and loved. And you get your hands all over her. PS take your time and you'll both enjoy it!
  3. I can't stress enough the need to get your basics down first. If you are not comfortable hopping or balancing on the rear wheel, you're not going to feel comfortable pedal kicking forward. Slow down and get your rear wheel balance dialed in, learn to pedal kick up to rear position, then pedal kicking forward will come easy. Then practice, practice , practice. When you get tired or burned out, work on something else then come back to it and practice some more. Good Luck
  4. Some of us have been using water to bleed brakes for the last couple of years, It gives a quicker feel and faster return of the lever. Water alone will freeze if it gets cold enough though. Most antifreeze has corrosion inhibitors for many of the newer aluminum radiators so it shouldn't harm the metal/aluminum parts. We haven't had any seal problems with a antifreeze water mix in Maggies or Echos so far.... Plus it's really inexpensive. Just my 2 cents
  5. I really liked all three videos, very nice style. Sweet paint on the BT too!
  6. Don't be afraid to ride alone, It gives you the opportunity to practice basics until you get them figured out. Get those basics down really well first. Use a video camera to help figure out what your doing right/ wrong. Then when you get a chance to ride with others, you can use that time to push yourself and /or your buddies when there is someone to help if you hurt yourself trying bigger, crazier stuff. Have Fun!!!
  7. There are some really good riders in your area, Patrick Smage for one, he also rides moto trials. He is currently the US national moto trials champion. I have not been there but they have a really nice practice area on their family farm near Madison and hold events there quite frequently.
  8. I started about two years ago, at age 44. At 46 I don't try as much crazy stuff, but I seem to be able to hold my own in Sport class. And I'm still progressing! I'm looking forward to many more years of riding, and learning as well as adding to the number of great people I've met on a goofy bike with no seat. Thanks, Duane
  9. Hey Bundee80, aren't you the rider from Beaverton area that posted on OTN around Thankgiving? Glad you posted here, I kinda assumed that I could always go back to those posts to contact riders.... until OTN crashed, what a shame. Anyway, a few of us less talentd riders are thinking about riding up the Columbia Gorge a ways at a place called Dallasport, just over the Dalles bridge on the Washington side over the New Years weekend. Kind of depends on weather and if I can scrounge up any interest.... Let me know if you would like to go and I'll get you more detailed directions and a time and place. There are a couple new guys in Hood river that have been asking me to come up and give them a few pointers.
  10. Wow this sounds so typical, but here it goes. I started riding biketrials about 2 years ago, at age 44, so my learning curve is a little slower than most. Not really because of age but because of work, family, life in general. My progression has been pretty steady though and I thoroughly enjoy the sport. I also ride moto trials, (some 30 years at that), but I find that a lot of skills do not cross over. I'm currently riding a Adamant A-1 front disc, rear echo's, pretty much a stock Webcyclery setup. And it's been holding up very well for me. I also have a A-3 mod as kind of a backup bike or for something a bit different. Although I registered here quite a while ago, I just kind of lurk here occastionally. I thought I'd finally post something since OTN is down. I really like the fact that there isn't so much garbage on this site. Thanks, and glad to be here.
