It depends. If your going for mainly speed you can run it soft. This will keep rear wheel locked to the floor and also soften landings of drops and jumps. If your doing tricks running the shock harder will allow you to get more height. This will also make the bike more twitchy and bouncy to ride.# Hope i've helped.

neither of those are anything out of the ordinary though, if you look in the full members section almost everybike looks like the 2 above.
