I've got a Koozer 72 engagement hub on my Polygon slopestyle bike (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000623760672.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.66.1c641802ZL19SC) and a Hassns 6 pawl 120 engagement hub on my Birdy foldy (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005265013002.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.16.1c641802ZL19SC). I've been pleasantly surprised by both and would be happy to get another for the kids bikes etc. Worth a look if you fancy a punt.

OpenFOAM is the free, open source meshing and CFD program of choice but it won't be a 5 minute job to learn how to get something sensible from it I don't think!! I could ask Renan at work to do some cases for you if you wanted though, Rowan.

Just to dig this back up I installed Fusion 360 the other day from work to see if I could use it to help make STLs into solid files (not managed that yet) but in the meantime have found it has a funky 'generative design' function which allows you to define basic geometry, loading and let the software organically build a suitable structure for you. I think I may have a new favourite thing...
And yes, that was taken in Solidworks after exporting and opening a step file!

Chances are the retailer would have to send things back to Hope UK anyway so I'd get back to Hope and tell them the situation and just ask for an address to send the hub to. I take it you can provide them wiht a proof of purchase etc.?

I've just jumped in at the deep end! Having recently upgraded the boys' Voodoos with dropper posts and Microshift 10 speed clutched geartrains I've just ordered them a Vitus Mythique 24 and a 26 from CRC for Christmas... Won't sell the hardtails immediately and may transfer the droppers over as the Mythiques only come with rigid posts and Box 8 speed drivetrain so may do a little switcheroo but hopefully they'll be pleased. They better be!

Surprise foldie attack! Spent a week in Singapore with my sister in the summer and got the urge for a foldie when I got back. Looked at Bromptons, Brompton clones, Decathlon bikes etc. but fancied something a little bit different so got myself a second hand Birdy. Quirky little thing but I do quite like it! Couldn't leave it be so immediately removed the mudguards, stand, swapped the saddle, rear 'shock', tyres and grips before sticking on some matchy matchy DMR V6s and a Zee derailleur as the original super long cage mech was actually hitting the ground on some corners!!

Only just found out on Friday that in the good ol' US of A they use the word 'mil' (which we in the sensible parts of the word use as an abbreviation for millimetre) for a thousandth of an inch (rather than 'thou' which would make SENSE!!). I don't know who started that or whose fault that is but it's unbelievable and just makes me mad!

I can see what you mean and where they're coming from but a the same time it seems that it makes it even less accessible and more 'weird' in the eyes of Joe Public. If I, as someone who's been riding trials for 25 years, doesn't know what's going on until someone on a forum explains it how are the public expected to understand what's happening? The riding's very impressive, of course, and I imagine (hope) that's even from an outsiders point of view but the competition side is going to be difficult for them to understand.

I haven't competed since the good ol' days of going through taped sections and being given points for dabs (least points wins...) but not only has it now gone for random points for making gates but it seems now nothing at all is taped and you can pretty much ride round bits you don't fancy and then attack specific sections for extra points with dabs now making little to no difference? Is this just for UCI events? Does BIU even exist anymore?

Pretty much. I saw Mike made some prototypes for a few riders and wanted feedback etc. but everything seemed to stop after the pandemic and I've seen very little activity from Mike since then. He was also working on that single legged fork for trials for a long time but again all seems to have died a death.

From my high horse, what are people's real-life experience of what's going on with interest rates etc.? I guess it all depends where you are in terms of type and term of 'deal' you're on. I'm glad we got out when we did!
