  1. I've got all day, but yeah might be an idea to wait until Monday :P Cheers Andy.

Pads sorted, although not sitting flush with the piston.

What i find best is to put water in the o-ring, then push the pads on as far as you can wih your hands, then set-up your brake and squeeze the lever really hard. Will do the trick. (Y)

  2. I always run a split link. They are soo useful.

I quite often need to split my chain to be honest and if I didn't have a split link i'd have spent ages fannying around with chain tools and stuff.

And I've never had expierences snapping one either.

  3. There shouldn't be a problem with the arms hitting the tyre I don't think (if this is what you are worried about, I'm not too sure )

Also onza v brake adapters aren't the best. My friend has snapped a few.EDIT: The spacers have to go on to the pads in a certain order too so make sure they are on correct. (Y)

    That friend being me. Haha.

Yeah, i've snapped two in the space of about a month. But my front brake is super powerful. The Heatsink ones are meant to be great if you can get your hands on them.

  4. You can get the Echo Urban in 36h but in black only, I find the black is the best anyway. Get the Echo urban mate. (Y)

They are super super strong, I have done alot of hard bashing on my Urban Rim and it aint even dented.

They have thicker sidewalls so they don't dent as easy and so you can grind it more.

The anodising on them is amazing. It makes rim brakes work alot better. By far the best out of the other rims I find, and especially the black one, because the anodising lasts alot longer.

    I reccommend it. (Y)

  5. Personally, i'd chose the Ice over the Skull.

I much prefer the geo and it's more suited for street so if that's what you ride the Ice will be great for you.

It's a fair bit cheaper too. I have an Ice frame and it rides amaazing.

also, it has maggie mounts and disc mounts incase you every decide to change your rear brake and the Ice now has stregthened dropouts.

Saying all that, i've never actually ridden a Skull but I don't think i'd like that geo too much.

    :wink2:

  6. yeah but im scared im gunna bend the back on :(

Yeah, that's another downer I find. My mate whos got a rear disc bent his rotor quite badly before just by missing one sidehop. Not worth it I reckon.

    +1

    The Avid Ultimates are overpriced.

And what Hunter suggested is an amazing setup!

We know where it's at. :wink2:

  7. Lol, i may put some thought into it, depend on what i can afford and all that malarky, but im sure a good set of v's wont cost as much as an avid juicy 7 or similar, so maybe with agood set of vees i can have more money to get more stuff like a new back wheel :P

thanks for the tips man, much appreciated ^_^

i have never been best at setting up brakes, i ride bmx brakeleess and always have.. i only got a trials bike tuesday

but im learning fast :D can already side hop a bench :P

Well... Vee brakes are ALOT cheaper than Discs if you don't get Ultimates.

It's fine mate. Glad to help.

If you've been riding for 5 days and can already sidehop a bench that's amazing! Keep it up man.

okay, so heres the setup i have come up with

i might have to change it due to expenses,

avid ultimate(may have to change to avid single digit 7s if there too much)

    avid speed dial 7

    echo booster

    oddyssey slic linear cable

    avid bb7 (front brake)

    rock v-pads

    good setup right!?

The back vee set-up sounds great however, a wee bit of advice. Don't get the Ultimate calliper. Yeah, sure it's amazing but for about £60 cheaper you could get the SD7 caliper which is basically just as good. Theres a couple of weee tiny things better about the ultimate. But it terms of price, the Sd7 is much much better.

The SD7 lever is great. I reccommend that but have a look at it here. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=71

    Only a tenner.

    Echo booster will be great.

Oddyssey linear slic is what I have. Very nice cable indeed.

And the Rock pads on a nice, sharp medium grind will be epic.

    Sounds like an AWESOME set-up.

if you get the SD7 caliper instead of the Ultimate it'll pretty much be just as good and you'll have an extra £60 to spend.

  8. Well, i've never tried this myself but I was reccommended by another guy on this forum that:

When your grinding your rim and you use vee's, grind both sides forward, the way the wheel turns. And if your using a maggie grind both sides backward, the way the wheel doesn't turn.

don't how well it works but it might be worth a shot.

If you've lost forward hold then grinding the rim forwards will help with that. (Y)

  9. yeah but i can only have a v on the back, otherwise i would need ne forks :/ and i like the feel of hydraulics, i love the way you dont need to apply alot of pressure to them to get a nice bite , whats more i am most likely going to buckle my wheel at some point, so if i do disks wont be affected much

Well... interms of applying pressure. A good vee that's been set-up good will require ALOT less pressure than a hydraulic. They pull in alot easier too.

And yeah... about buckling the wheel, disc or no disc, your gonna want to fix it anyway. Just buy a spoke key for a fiver or something. Truing wheels is very easy when you know what to do. (Y)
