  1. Hello everyone,I had a few friends over on saturday to ride the barn and i've managed to put a short vid together. Please forgive crappy editing... this my first attempt at a vid so it is amateur to say the least. Please enjoy anyway and let me know what you think.I've also got some nice pics which i'll put up later'

The vid is now on youtube as well now because some people have been unable to find it. I'm not sure if this a common problem or if it's me being stoopid !!

    Cheers

    Nick

p.s. the vid is now slightly edited now and number 2 is on its way !

  2. Hello everyone,I've unfortunately had to postpone the official opening of West Wales Bike Trials for a week due to a technical hitch but the good news is that the barn is ready. We are still going to ride in there but with friends only for now.I'm putting a few pics up off the barn in its present incarnation for you to see and I hope you like them.

    Cheers

    Nick

  3. Cool setup and good riding. Is this a competition setup or a place for you to ride?

Hi Nathan, unfortunately I don't think the barn is big enough for a comp but it is a place for everyone to ride.Check out West Wales Bike Trials,I'm opening on the 10th of october and I've got a facebook group going as well.I have put a thread on the news section of the forum so please have a look.Cheers,Nick

good stuff you got a new camera nick?

Not me dude, the camera was lent to me by the misses.I want to do loads of filming in there.I've set up a load of lights now so there is much more light.Has your new frame arrived ?

  4. Count me in for that Nick, i'll be there on the 10th.

Also are you going to the shipley comp? I need to sort out a ride..

Hiya Cai,how's your shin healin' ? (why don't you silly sods use shin pads ?) I am going to shipley but I'm not sure who's going with who yet. I'm riding this time and i can only take 3 people and 3 bikes but i'm sure we can sort something.see you soon.

  5. yoo intrested in coming up with mates just wanted to see some pictures? Before we head up to see if its worth the trip.

Hi Kyle,I'm going to be taking pictures of the barn tomorrow (friday) and i'll put them up for all to see in the evening.

Thanks for taking an interest,I hope you'll like what you see !

    Cheers

  6. Opening soon in Carmarthen (west wales) is West Wales Bike Trials,a small indoor venue set up for riding trials during the winter.I have gathered a large number of pallets, cable reels and other items to make the riding as interesting and technical and fun as it can be.Some of you have already been to the barn during last winter and i would like to open up the opportunity to more of you.The venue has basic camping facilities (both indoor and out) so if you want to make a weekend of it that's cool.It will only be open part time and entry is by booking only due to a limited number of space for riders (10 or so at a time). For more info please feel free to contact me (via the trials forum or on my email) idlehans@btinternet.com.

    Thankyou

Hi dudes, thanks for the interest you guys have shown in West Wales Bike Trials,i'm opening the doors on saturday 10th of october and I can't wait.We had some great sessions in there last winter as some of you know and i've made some more space so i can probably fit in a few more riders.I'm currently in the process of designing flyers and stuff and taking pictures of the set up so you can all see what i'm on about.I've also set up a facebook group (called West Wales Bike Trials, funnily enough)so you can catch up with things on there as well and i'll update those as regularly as i can.Prices are £5 per evening and £10 for the day.I don't have a price for the camping senario yet but it will be very reasonable. Thanks for the feedback (hi ozzy,hi matt, it'll be good to see you boys riding here again)and i'll hopefully see you soon.

  7. Rubbish. Who told you that?

Please dude, get a grind on your rim.Life is sooo much better with a grind. Please listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about.Show your folks this thread. They probably think it's vandalism to take a grinder to your bike but it's not.How many trials riders don't have a grind on the back ?

Hello all, thanks very much for the interest you've shown in West Wales Bike Trials. Here are a couple of pics of the barn taking shape so you can see what's going on.It will look different when it's ready and it will change layout as diffrerent riders come and go.We can change the layout an the size and shape of the obstacles according to your imagination and ability so if you want to side hop bigger and bigger,no problem. If you want to tap higher and higher,no problem. You get the idea.I've set up a facebook group called WestWales Bike Trials so please feel free to join and see what's going on(there are a few more pics on there as well).I'll keep everyone updated whenever i can both here on the forum and through the facebook site.Hope you like the pics (i've put a couple of short vids up in the vids section of the forum so check them out too.

  9. looks good mate, i got a second hand one coming in the post in the next few days. hope i like it. what do you think of yours so far?

    cheers adam

Hi Adam, how you doin.Sorry i didn't reply until now but i haven't been online for ages. my pitbull rides really nice but i'ne had a few teething troubles. mainly that i'm running it with a freewheel on the back rather than the front (like it was designed to do).i'm havin a bit of trouble getting used to having 22/18 gearing rather than 22/19 that i was used to on my pashley.it won't be long and i'll get it. hope yours goes well.put some pics up.cheers Nick

  10. sorry must of not been clear i am running 16-14 gearing i had a tensioner on but my mate took couple links out my chain because he insisted that it would work he managed to get the chain on without the tensioner so its like a mod but because the vertical dropouts the chain is very tight but it runs just stiff. as its so stiff will this damage my bb or my hub? hope this is more clear

Hi moose, get a link back in that chain and run it with a tensioner.Having a chain that tight will seriously shorten the life of your bb,chain and your freehub/free wheel.Yuor friend isn't a genius.Do it now before it turns into an expensive mistake.Ask on the forum before you do these things, there are loads of riders/mechanics onb here who know their stuff. It's better to ask first rather than let your mates knacker your bike for you.Byeeee

  11. So i need new cranks?

Hiya pizzapie, matt's right about your crank problem.I'm a cycle mechanic and i've seen this a million times. It sounds like they are rounded off slightly and there is no way of fixing it other than getting new cranks i'm afraid.Make sure you torque them up correctly and check them once in a while. You should really check them before each ride but no one really does.Don't forget to put a little grease on the tapers.Hope this helps you out.byeeeeee

Sorry,I should have mentioned that you can probably buy just a left hand crank to replace your damaged one.

  12. Booster idea is pritty swish but its been done before :P .

Also id change the forks, they dont suit the bike at all get a set of curve blades on there.

Cheers ,I thought someone probably would have.It did seem like the obvious place to put it.And i've got a nice pair echo forks to go on there.Onwards and upwards...

  13. Lets get this together, whats the most common, and whats the best... Obviously people are going to have confliciting beliefs here, so lets get a general concensus

Definately has to be the stone cutting diamond edged blade probably best on a grinder that isn't to powerful so you're cutting little grooves rather than actually grinding all of your rim away.It might extend the life of the rim.....maybe ? That's the best i've found but a new metal grinding disc is pretty good too.

  14. Yippee,i've just been validated. Here's a couple of pics of my Pashley 26 mgz.If you ride one of these checkout the cunning brake booster under the seat stays. It's much stiffer than a booster on top.I haven't put the spec down because it changes quite often.(It has had a different set of bars since these photos were taken)Does anyone know anything about the forks ? It says INSANE down the legs but i've never seen them before.I have seen gusset and on-one forks that are similar but I don't know anything about them so if anyone knows i'd love to find out.Cheers.

  15. I was looking through the forum and noticed that most of the people on here are pretty young. Are there many older riders/newbies out there (30+).I can't be the only one. Also, I think there is a class missing in the comps.Maybe a class for older novices (call it Fat Daddies ?).
