  1. Nicemind. You've opened my eyes to some riding in the toon.
  2. I'll most probably be out on Monday, from about 6ish (work permitting). I've got a Base TA26, set up canny ghetto like, and i'm, ahem, 31, just riding on me own at the minute, all my mates just ride XC (when they get their arses from in front of the xbox).
  3. It looks around about a 38/18 gear ratio, about a 2.11 gear ratio. If you've got a mountain bike (or know someone who has) put it the front gear on the second chainring and the back gear on (about) the 5th/6th gear and it will give you a (very) rough idea. Without knowing how many teeth are on each gear its hard to know, but it looks like it would be alright for cruising about, bit harder than a typical bmx gearing probably. But, its dead easy to change the gearing if its too hard/light for what you need.
  4. I've been out riding today. Started of in Jesmond Dene in Heaton, then went into town, rode some ledges and that at the Uni's. It was a lush day. I'm away over to town tomorrow too, going to the Uni's again, they've got some alright stuff, I'm just learning like, just hopping about and falling off a lot, but its good crack. I'll be in town from about 11ish if you fancy it.
  5. I'd heard TrialsTube mentioned, i just assumed people just meant the video section, i never knew there was another vid bit. Good work
  6. Aye, I've just started off hopping around in my back yard at first, then ventured out. I've got a few places round mine so I usually just blast round them before I either get moved on or get accused of trying to burgle places LOL. I got a Base TA26 frame of this site as it goes, built it up with what i had from a old jump bike, just been buying little bits here and there with what little spare cash I get. I'm getting really into trials, much more than I thought I would and this forum has been a great help, some helpful peeps on here. Mind there's some divvies as well, but then you get them on all forums.
  7. Maybe check your rear traingle for any cracks man.
  8. Ah man, i ride Jesmond Dene quite a bit, we should meet up when you've got your bike, I'm sick of riding on me own. I'm pretty much starting out on trials properly too and fear the youth giggling at my shite riding.
  9. Ahh, bummer mate. It was a while ago I was in there mate. I've heard they've started moving more towards the bmx scene. I think they only used to get the stuff in because the owners daughters cousin used to ride trials.
  10. Hello mate, i ride Newcastle a bit, i'm similar to you, ride my xc bike mostly but got myself a trials bike to mess about on, I've always wanted one like. I've just been riding round my local area, little industrial park near mine and down the local dene, few things to knock about on. As for shops, there's The Cycle Centre on Shields Road in Byker that sell the odd trials part, I've seen bikes in there before, not sure if they have any in at the minute though. Give them a ring and see what they say:- http://www.cyclecentreuk.co.uk/
  11. Aye, cheers man, appreciate it.
  12. What do they feel like to you though fella? Have they given you any grief? Have you thought, 'man, if it wasn't for these damn bars, I'd be hopping trucks' ? Because if not, keep them, if not, and you want to sell them, I'll give you 3 pounds, uncut.
  13. hahaha, that video a few posts up reminds me of the old bmx flatland demos from the 80's. C A M P
  14. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he isn't a talented rider, he is f**kin' class! But riding street on a trials bike, does that make it trials? Tell me what he could use out of that video, in a real trials scenario. I'm not talking about the obligatory side-hop or tap, but everything he does has a massive run up, i thought trials was about getting over an object from a static start. I must be wrong to warrant such a response, but you aren't bmx'ers, your (supposed) to be trials riders.
  15. He is a class rider, don't get me wrong. But is it really trials? I'm not shitin' the guy, don't get me wrong, he is a awesome rider, but trials?
  16. He is a fantastic rider, all he needs to do is stick some pegs on his bike, get some 20inch wheels and he's set.
  17. You can get whitewall tire paint from car shops, i used to use it on my Vespa years back, it was quite good from what i can remember.
  18. I see, i might get myself one, or even make one, be quite easy just to cut one out of some sheet mental.
  19. Are boosters any good? I've never had one, my brakes work fine but if i got one would i notice an improvement??
  20. Its about Hans Rey, pioneer of trials. It was on 8 till 9 tonight, mind, knowing the Extreme Sports channel, it'll be repeated 47 times.
  21. hmmm, maybe I'll leave the flats alone then. This is all new to me this trials, I'm used to 'proper' bikes Short stems, gears, shocks, SEATS! But thanks for your advice fellas, much appreciated.
  22. I have extended them by about an inch either end by using clamp-on grips, just letting them hang over, but they feel abit 'squishy'. I've got risers at the minute like. Are flats rubbish then??
  23. Seen these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=120377060288 Are they any good for the price? I've got some Base jump bars on at the minute, not wide enough and to much rise in them. 13 quid seems okay, but i need some proper advice.
  24. There's a shop on Shields Road in Newcastle that stocks trials parts, they've had trials bikes in before:- http://www.cyclecentreuk.co.uk/ Give them a ring, see what they can do for you. I don't think they have any in at the minute but they might/probably get some in if they think you're interested. You'll be able to get the Metro there from your neck of the woods too.
