  1. If you've never set them up before, I would definitely try and follow some instructions, because in my experience they are a total nightmare to set up well on the evolution mounts. The Magura website downloads section has manuals which have picture guides, and I just found this site has a wiki which also has a setup guide: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/wiki/How_to_...p_a_Magura_HS33
  2. Dude, no sale threads are allowed in this forum. You have to wait until you are a validated member, then you can use the For Sale forum. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....p;f=13&id=3
  3. Well my first bike was a Raleigh AllTerrain, probably manufactured in about 1987 since I got it second hand in I guess 1990 (age 7). It had 5 gears. I'm actually a bit gutted that I can't find any pictures of it online... Did you guys really get trials bikes as your first bikes? I would love to see a trials bike with stabilisers on it
  4. From a pure 'stopping power' point of view, are cable disks generally better than good V-brakes? Assuming both are properly set up of course. I always thought cable disks are only really found on cheap stock mountain bikes to try and make them look expensive, but have never really tried them for myself.
  5. I can't compete with all these lists of breakages, but I did manage to snap a crank once, and this time I really really was 'just riding along'. Well, I pedalled a little bit harder to get up a kirb: I was meeting people for a ride, so I just pushed the bike up to them and asked if there was anything wrong with my bike, took them at least a minute to realise I only had one crank Ended up borrowing someones spare for that ride, only it was 10mm too long. Pretty funny to ride like that although not exactly practical! Oh yeah I think the crank is a shimano stx rc if anyone remembers that. [edit] eek, didn't mean to resurrect an ancient thread, I was running a search and didn't look at the last post date.. sorry [/edit]
  6. Hi all. Used to love riding trials before and during uni, but didn't realise until recently how unsuitable my bike was for it (I ended up building myself a jump bike without really realising, d'oh!). I can do a bit on it, but it's so heavy, it makes it really difficult, especially for a relative beginner like me. Anyway been thinking about getting back into it for a while now; really got inspired by watching some MacAskill videos on youtube, and with summer coming it would be great to ride in the evenings after work. Just need to find a bike! Cheers.
