  1. 18-15 is popular I run 16-14 but I think it works out as pretty much the same ratio. I'd stick with what you've got, or go 16-14 if you're a weight weenie
  2. Enjoy your new bars mate. I'm sure you'll love them
  3. I have white Trialtech bars. They're spot on! At the end of the day mate, go for what you want. Sure the Trialtechs are popular, but if the Try-Alls do it for you then go for them They're both good quality bars.
  4. Hahahaa! Grammar-Nazis for the win. Good work guys, but let me just fill in that missing noun for you.
  5. Not sure if I can as yet. I'm going to see Tim Minchin in Oxford with the gf. I'll soon pipe up if I'm about though
  6. Fit isn't it? It's 10.6kg at the moment. Plenty light enough for me.
  7. Rockman Slate limited edition green. Trialtech bars and stem. Try-All grips. Hope headset + Head doctor. Cannondale Fattys (they're ancient, but it's amazing what can be done with a tin of spray paint). Shimano Deore front disc brake with Hope +20 mount and 180mm Aztec Wavey rotor. Magura rear brake with Try-All brown pads and RB 4 bolt booster. Front wheel - Hope XC hub with Sun MTX33 rim and Continental Vapour tyre. Rear wheel - Hope Pro2t hub with Try-All rim and Continental Rubber Queen tyre. Onza chain tugs (modified somewhat). Shimano UN52 BB Middleburn 175mm cranks with Super Pro bash/chainring (the Ti version). KMC Z51 chain. 14t rear sprocket. DMR V8s. You chaps are legends for getting the thing delivered so quickly. My Friday evening was brilliant getting it built up
  8. Big thanks to Tarty Bikes. Awesome as ever
  9. Short notice I know, but a couple of us from Somerset are heading down for the day. The more the merrier
  10. The louise is a good brake, I used to have one and it's got plenty of power. Hope is probably better quality though. Mind you, I run a crusty old Shimano Deore with one of those wavey rotors and that's pretty decent. It really comes down to how much you're willing to spend. See if you can try a few out before you make your mind up.
  11. 'Cool beans.' Is that a Hot Rod reference? Whhhiskey! Whhhiskeeeey!! Get the bike and get riding mate. Oh, and grow a moustache
  12. Parts required: Cranks (probably a pair) BMX type screw-on freewheel (don't go for those 'silent' ones, they're cack) Fixed rear hub (probably new spokes too depending on hub flange sizes) Rear screw-on sprocket Can of worms Chain (your old one may slip on new sprockets) It's not simple. As far as I know you'll need new cranks with the threaded section necessary to screw on a new BMX type freewheel. Then you'll need a new fixed rear hub so you can screw on a new rear sprocket. You'll probably find that you'll need a new chain too. Mind you, it's been a while since I had a front freewheel set up. Maybe there are some new fangled parts that would make conversion easier these days?
  13. Thanks for the welcomes. Yes I've got a St Blaize. It's one of the very first ones, but I've modified it with some home made stickers and a few carefully placed dents.
  14. Pffft. I've just realised that I didn't post this in the sticky thread for introductions. Ever so sorry
  15. Hello All, I'm Greg and I'm new to the forum but have been riding on and off for a good few years. I know a handful of the south western riders on here, so 'yo' to them and for those that don't know me; I'm a draughtsman by trade, I ride an ancient Coust, I like music (except Hip Hop and R&B and all that litter), I play drums (hence the name), I am a geek, I like cars (Alfas and Minis), I don't necessarily know much about any of the above. I haven't ridden properly for too long now and am trying to get back into it. Wish me luck!
