Tucking does help. Helps you go further because when you tuck you go a little bit higher then when you (untuck) straighten out you go further down to touch your back wheel on the obstacle.

I remember in Year 6 this kid asked if he could come round my house and I said, "I'm busy until next year!", funny times! - The funny thing is that he believed me.
