Looking at buying a secondhand Onza Zoot Pro DD (built up from the frame kit) and apparently there's a tiny bit of play in the bottom bracket
Could someone suggest a rough cost and an idea on what parts I'd need to buy if I was looking to sort this out?
He says it rides fine and doesn't make any noises, but pointed out there was some play
Many Thanks
James

Yep, it'll all get bashed around - just as long as it can take it haha
As long as it's a decent starting platform, as you said earlier I can always upgrade bits as I go along if I find the need to!
-
Thanks for that, just what I wanted to hear
I thought it all seemed half decent or good, but wasn't sure on a couple of the bits such as the cranks, etc
But then it's about 4 years since I've had a trials bike, and I didn't exactly know much then haha

Looking to get back into trials, and try a 24" this time
Found this for sale at £300, and just wondering what the spec is like?
FRAME - Onza zoot pro
WHEELS - Onza ultralight drilled rims with Hope Pro 2 SS trials rear hub and monty front hub (Ti Spokes)
FORKS - Onza zoot pro street forks
BARS - jitsie controll
BREAKS - Avid Elixir 7 Trails (4pot)
CRANKS - octane one
PEDALS - Cant remember but they are grippy and rip your shins to bits
TYRES - front is a tioga small block and rear is a
CHAIN - KMC
SEAT - Federal black and redSome of the spec seems half decent, such as Zoot Pro Frame, Hope Pro 2 Rear Hub but unsure on stuff like the brakes and cranks? Can't say I've heard of either, although I am I complete beginner!
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi All,
Just wondered whether you could use Avid Juicy 3's for Trials, or are they no good really?
Thanks and ATB

Hi All,
I am looking at a bike, but it has Onza Pro Square Taper Cranks, so I assume it has a Square Taper BB.
I am interested in buying this bike, but will I have to upgrade it to ISIS BB and Cranks in the future or are Square Tapers fine?
Thanks and ATB

Thanks and ATB

Thanks all for the help.
Unfortunately the Onza ended early, so didn't get a chance to have it.
The Zona does have a pretty decent spec though, so I am still tempted......Hmm what to do
-
Thanks all.
What would be classed as a Short Wb and a Long Wb for a Mod?
Also, I wonder why Adam @ Tartybikes says Mods with long Wb are often preferred for street?
-
Long wheelbase is easy for rear wheel balance, and for side hops.
Short wheelbase is good for short, bunny hop like moves (so good for comps)
I'm sure theres alot more to it, but that's what i know
Thanks a lot man!
Keep them coming lads!
-
Hi Guys,
What are the advantages and disadvantages of either?
I know that Long Wheelbases are often favoured by Street Riders, but why?
I am mainly talking about 20" Mods, but I am sure it is the same for all the sizes.
Thanks and ATB

Any other opinions?

Sounds like you've got it sussed! Give me a shout if you get stuck.
Thanks for that - Means a lot!
Have fun with the Adobe CS suite, the possibilities are endless and you can lose hours on it.
Brilliant piece of kit
Thanks for that - I'm sure I will hopefully!
I have got the Adobe CS 5.5 Design Standard, so there are quite a few things to learn!

If its got duel disc its a pro which is a bloody good bike!!! I would choose the pro, over all nicer bike to ride, the fact its more up to date. And lighter also you have to choice for Magura and disc!!
Id go for the pro
Thanks for that.
Yes I was wrong, it is a 'Onza Pro' (Not T-Pro), it is the same as this one : http://www.onza.com/v2/products/2009/pro/pro.html
Do people still think the Zona will be better?
Thanks and ATB

Some of my Photos. BTW, the first photo is actually a photo, as it was taken with a camera then edited.
Haven't been doing Photography long, and don't have much time to take photos unfortunately due to school.
Let me know what you think....
-
Yeah, exactly.
Anything you create in photoshop will be converted to dots (rasterized) and if you place text in a document, it too will be converted to dots, it'll in effect be an image as opposed to a piece of text. That's how pixelation can occur.
With images it doesn't matter as they are captured as dots, so photos + photoshop go together in perfect harmony.
Illustrator is a vector programme which creates graphics, shapes and text as mathematical equations made up of lines, which are not constructed of dots, therefore will not pixelate. This is ideal when working with text as it allows a screen resolution pdf that's emailable etc to still have perfectly clear, unaffected text. It also means pdf viewers will recognise text, as text (not an image) therefore it can be selected and copied out etc....
If you can work in this manner, then it is ideal. If your images require no editing, just placing, resizing etc then I suggest you work entirely in illustrator as it's just that bit quicker and easier. If you need filters, colour changes, proper editing of the images then start in photoshop then go to illustrator.
If you do create the image section in photoshop then save it as a psd as Illustrator will be able to open this and recognise layers etc. Once you applied the text in Illustrator and are finished then go to save as, and select pdf. Set your quality for the required purpose (whether printing or placing online, emailing etc) and you should be good to go.
Matthew, That is a huge help!
I will probably start in Photoshop, as I do have to edit the photos a bit, then I'll go to Illustrator!
Thanks a lot!!

I would go for the Zona,
Mostly because of the HS33s which will start you off pritty good. The frames are quite long but arn't too bad.
The brakes on the T-Pro will soon start to annoy you and you'll want to upgrade to HS33s anyway.
My mate had the Zona and I liked it from what I can remember, I think they are quite good value too.
HS33s are a much better investment than the standar Onza disk brake that comes on the T-Pro mate.
Cheers George!
Looks like the Zona is the better bet then....
Thanks and ATB

You don't want to be constructing pdf's in Acrobat...mainly because you can't really.
If you've got Photoshop, then use it and save as a PDF, but if you're working with type then I wouldn't recommend it as it'll rasterize the artwork including text. BY all means compose the photographic/image elements in Photoshop then save them, and construct the wording in Illustrator. This then will not rasterize the text meaning it will remain legible and people will be able to copy out of the pdf.
Thanks a lot! It will be a combination of Photos and Text.
Ahh, so by doing the text in Illustrator it will allow people to select the text?
Thanks and ATB
James
Yep, create in Photoshop or Illustrator, and you should be able to save to PDF directly from there.
EDIT: Beaten to it...
Thanks JD!
I'll have to learn how to use Illustrator then!
Thanks and ATB

Hi All,
I need to make a PDF for someone, but I am unsure how to go about it, as I just realised that Acrobat Pro only creates PDF's from JPEG's or Documents - Not from scratch.
Now I need to make a PDF which advertises the company, so I will want to put pictures, text in this PDF but in a professional way. (Not just plain text and pictures)
How is the best way to go about this? Should I create a image in Photoshop then export it as a PDF? Or can I do what I want in Acrobat Pro?
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks and ATB

Personally i would go for the zona, Just for the fact of hs33's , IMO the t-pro frame is slightly better but not by much.
Thanks for that!
I am interested to hear peoples opinions on the HS33's Vs. Onza Pro Brakes!
Thanks and ATB

Hi Guys,
Just a very quick question, which would you for out of the following :
Onza Pro 2009, which has the standard Onza Pro Disc Brakes (which are Cable) fitted front and rear. Anyone know what they are like?
OR
Zona Zip, which has Maguras HS33 fitted both front and rear. Has Echo Rear Booster fitted.
Both are in good condition (T-Pro would be slightly better condition, but not by much) and fully working. They are both the same price.
I suppose the advantage of the T-Pro is that I could fit some Hydraulic Disc Brakes at a later date, but this would obviously cost more!
Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Thanks and ATB
James
Edit : It's a Onza 'Pro' not T-Pro, same as this one : http://www.onza.com/v2/products/2009/pro/pro.html

Ok, thanks all!
Think I have found one which seems to be very good value.
Which parts should I upgrade first?
Thanks and ATB
James
-
Yep, they have a disc mount
Thanks for that! That's good news!
What would you say a decent price is for a very good/good condition Onza Zoot is? (Around 2010)
Thanks and ATB
Also, if anyone has anymore opinions/upgrades on the Zoot, Please let me know!
Also, what booster would you recommend?
Thanks
-
On mine I've changed:
Brakes: New levers (Deore front & SD7 rear), Inspired pads on rear, Carbon booster on rear (There is a lot of flex otherwise)
Pedals: Echo TR's (Original ones seemed to prefer gripping to my shin bone rather than the soles of my shoes)
Chain: Trialtech K710 Kool (As said before, the original chain looked snap happy)
Grips: Unbranded lock on's (Original's wore through after a few months)
Bashring: Czar (Managed to squish/ snap part of the original one... Im a bit of a basher)
Forks: Palshey (Original's are relatively heavy)
Freewheel: Echo SL
Although that makes it look as if I've changed loads, its mainly been due to them coming up cheap on here rather than there being anything particularly wrong with them
I've used it mainly for 'trialsy' type riding with the odd bit of street and seems to cope with both perfectly for my level of use, has been loaaaads more fun than my old Mod and iv'e improved a lot more in a short period of time in comparison, so well worth it in my opinion
Thank a lot Man!! That's a bid help!
That makes me more tempted to get one, especially as it is fine for 'Trialsy' moves!
Thanks again!
yeah i swapped to an onza sealed disc front hub, the original is open bearings. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/front_disc_hubs/onza_sealed_disc_front/c20p10317.html
its easy to change the hub if you know how to lace wheels and true etc. but you can learn that easily.
i was still learning when i had my zoot but i thought it was awesome. i learnt how to pedal kick within the first month of riding, and it was good for learning footjams and 180's etc. id recommend it for a first bike,
but i snapped my frame after 3 months. however it was about a year old.
Thanks again for the reply!
I don't know how to lace wheels, but I am sure I could learn - or get a bike shop to do it for me.
Do the forks accept Disc Brakes, or will I have to get new forks?
Thanks and ATB
What frame is this?

Being advertised as a Onza frame, and it looks bloody similar to one I've seen but I just can't remember the name of it
