  1. Hi Guys,

I was just riding my Trek 3700 on the road and the Derailler just suddenly caught in the wheel. I had taken it up the mountain earlier in the day but it was fine on the way back?

I don't really know much about mountain bikes so I could do with some help of you guys.

I have taken some pictures which should help:

    DSCF3893.jpg

    DSCF3894.jpg

    DSCF3896.jpg

What is wrong? Is it fixable or do I need to get new part/s? If I need new parts, what parts do I need?

I don't want to spend much on it to be honest.

    Thanks,

    James

  2. This is the pictures of the thread I was on about by the freewheel:

    DSCF3889.jpg

    DSCF3886.jpg

You can see what I mean about the thing moving without needing to thread it! It just slides that far out and that far in. It might thread on the last few milimetres but I don't know how to screw it in?

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks,

    James

    Edit: Wrong picture!

  3. Just had a good look at the bike.

If the freewheel is the sprocket thing by the pedals (well pedal stem things, don't know exact name sorry :$ ), it is on a bar (?) which goes through the frame to the other pedal stem.

Well there is a thread by the freewheel but it has lost its thread. It just slides into the frame and back out.

I'm sure this isn't right. Maybe it is causing the clunk?

Anyway, I am going to send it back to the guy as I am not pleased since it has:

    1)Makes a clunk

2)Front buckled wheel which has a slow puncture and the tire is very worn down

    3)Rear brake doesn't work properly

    4)Finally, chain very slack

So since he sold it in 'perfect working order' I think I will return it even though it says that 'this seller doesn't accept returns'.

I have sent him a message about problems with the bike and I am waiting for his reply.

What options do I have if he says he will not refund me? I see there is claiming on eBay, how does it work and do you win often?

    Thanks,

    James

  4. ive got this problem, think its something to do will the freewheel maybe skipping but not sure.

Easy to fix? I just bought this so I am disappointed already!(N)

Also, the chain seems really loose. I don't know if that makes any difference?

  5. My Onza T-Pro makes a loud clunk when you press down hard on the pedals. I was doing a wheelie when this first happened. You can't bring the front wheel up because as soon as you hear the clunk the front wheel just goes down.

Any suggestions on what is happening?

    Thanks,

    James

  6. Hi Guys,

I had tried a 'Bath Bleed' like Revolver explains in the video tutorial.

First time I tried it, when I held the brake lever in fully for 2 seconds or more, it would make the brakes stick on.

So I gave the bath bleed another try. I have a problem though. I was was letting the lever go when it just stuck on.

It is now stuck on. I can only push it back off if that makes sense it doesn't spring back. The brakes are not affected by the leaver at all, so when I squeeze it there is no pressure!

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

    Thanks

  8. spikey rings? Could you be a bit more specific :S Sounds like they shouldn't be there unless they're some of these

    HSPXALSPACER-118-BLK_P1.jpg

If so they are meant to go above the frame in order to space the stem slightly higher. This is user preference and can also depend on the length of the forks :)

    Anymore help needed, just yell.

    Thanks a lot Alex.

They are the things in the photos. There is three of them. Would you recommend putting them on and seeing if I like them on?

    Thanks,

    James

  9. Hi Guys,

My Onza T-Pro has just come through the post but I have a really stupid question.

How do I fit the frame to the forks? Well when I say that I know how to but there are 3 little spikey rings on the forks. Where abouts do these go? Below the frame, above, etc?

    Thanks

  10. Hi Guys,

I went up the mountain yesterday on my Trek 3700 and had an amazing time! B)

I went along the bottom of the mountain first on a sort of wide dirt track, not really fast stuff but I made it fun by going along banks and jumping off!

Towards then end (when coming down the side onto the road) there is a little section of dirt, rocks, drops, gaps and all that sort of thing. It's not high speed stuff though (well you can go pretty fast on one bit where there is a bit of a drop) but it's still great fun.

Anyway, I am thinking of getting a new Mountain Bike as my old Trek 3700 is getting a bit old and small. It has a 13" frame, the shocks on it are literally rock sold and the front wheel is badly buckled so the front brake doesn't work well.

I am thinking of getting a 17" frame as I am 14 years old and 5 foot 6. I am still growing though! ^_^

I was maybe considering a Specialized Hardrock Disk. Would this be suitable for me? I would be doing what I said above. Here is a link to one: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/hardrock-disc-2010-mountain-bike-ec019400?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=froogle

Are the higher models really worth the extra money? Is there any other makes/models I should consider? (I was thinking of a Carrera Fury but this is a the top of my budget)

Any advice would be appreciated! ^_^

    Thanks,

    James

  11. Pretty much all mods have 19in rear wheels so any mod you can find for under £200 will do. To be honest you will probably only get an onza for under £200 but you might find something like a zona zip, if your lucky; they are much better then T-Poo's.

Do you mean a Onza 'Rip'? If you do, it is best to get a T-Pro as the 'Rip' has a 20" wheel where a T-Pro has an 19".

  12. Rockings definately the best method I found years ago when I first learnt, kicking straight up into a backhop took quite a while to master.

It's easier to kick up into one when you've mastered rocking into a backhop and kicking forward, to be honest if I were you I'd try and get hold of a copy of Tricks and Stunts DVD as whilst its quite old now it does a good job of teaching you the basics!

You probably will find it a little harder than normal though to do on a normal MTB compared to a trials specific frame due to the geometry.

Thanks guys. I have just bought a Onza T-Pro which should make it slightly easier, well hopefully it will!

I will let you know how I get on!

    James

  13. After all your advice guys I got the T-Pro I posted on here! ^_^

I paid £195 including postage is that too much or about ideal? I just need to bleed the brake on it, How do I do that?

Thanks guys and I hope you made me get the right bike! :turned:

    James

  14. ok. the pro is like more than less half the price the rip. and you can upgrade that.. how much money you got to spend? maybe save up for a new one?

The Onza still has 2 days left. The reserve price is £120 meaning that I will have to spend a minimum of £140 but there is quite a high chance of it going higher, especially as I have posted it on the forum. But if I want to Upgrade this is what I am thinking:

Buy bike (eg Onza Rip for £150)

If I enjoy trials riding and get better and could do with a better bike, sell the bike (possibly losing a small amount of money)

    Buy a better bike

    Simple really.

I would rather spend about £200 max but £150 would be perfect. I do not want to buy new as there is no advantage, you spend twice as much for a bike which looks a little better but will probably soon get a nice long dent/scratch down it.

    James

  15. hi mate. firstly have a scoot round ebay and see if theres any other bikes for sale. if you cant to find any.... £150 for a rip aint bad. just have to take into account wheel size and upgrading. Try find a blade .. pro etc. maybe try find a bike wtih hs33's. just think about the long run... aswell

    hope this helps :arabia:

Well I have looked around eBay and I can only find one other suitable Onza T-Pro which is in good condition but the brake needs bleeding. It isn't in as good condition as the Rip.

Can you upgrade many parts on a Rip? Surely if I bought it though, it wouldn't lose much money if I kept it in good condition?

    Thanks
