  1. theyre good,

upgrade chain!!! the standard one is like a rubber band. and it WILL snap.

i ran avid sd7's with inspired pads on the rear and a bb5 on the front (onza sealed hub)

little things like trialtech foam grips, trialtech stem and better pedals.

also a fatter tyre on the front, sealed headset

    oh and a v booster.

thats what i had and it was pretty damn good.

    Thanks for that!

How did you find it for 'Trialsy' moves?

I'll have a look at those parts mentioned above tomorrow.

    Thanks and ATB

    James

Also, when you say you had a 'Onza Sealed Hub' on the front, was this to allow you to fit a disk front brake?

Also, how easy was it to change the hub?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Thanks and ATB

  2. Hi Guys,

What is your opinion on an Onza Zoot being used as a beginners bike? It will be used for Trials moves, and possibly some street riding.

Also, what parts would you upgrade? I was thinking of the brakes - but unsure what to upgrade them to?

    Thanks and ATB

  3. Hi Guys,

I am thinking of getting back into Trials again, so I am looking at getting another bike.

I have seen a bike I like, but the problem is that the Downtube on it is fairly dented. When I say 'fairly' dented I mean bad dents, not just some small dings.

I have added a picture of it. The frame is an Echo Team.

What would your advice be on buying a bike with a frame like this? I am not new to trial, but my riding is like a beginner - So I would be learning on it.

    Thanks and ATB

  4. Hi Everyone, long time no speak!

I am interested in getting into Road Cycling, and I would be grateful if you could recommend me a bike.

It will be my first road bike, so I don't really have any idea on what is good/bad.

My budget is around £500 MAX, but I would ideally spend less - and I don't mind buying 2nd hand. Ideally I would spend around £300.

It will be used for general road riding (casual) and to be used for fitness. I live on Country Roads so they are fairly hilly (i.e. up and down a lot) but it will also be used on flat roads.

I am 5 foot 7, 15 years old and still growing. What would be an ideal size?

I would really appreciate some help!

    Thanks and ATB

  5. Hi Guys,

On my 24Seven Slacker the front wheel is slightly buckled, nothing bad, but it is buckled, so when I put the front brake on, the disk brakes on the rotor rub which isn't ideal.

Does anyone know what I can do to make it unbuckled? Could I just get a shop to re-lace it, and hopefully this will get rid of the buckle.

Here is the bike : http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/product/24sevenslackerjumpbike2011.aspx?&id=13828

    Thanks and ATB

  6. Hi Guys,

I wondered what the best way is to go about fitting some new grips? They are Edwins.

I have heard that if you boil them for 5-10mins, it can make them more comfortable. Anyone have any more information on this?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks and ATB

  7. Hi Guys,

I recently bought a new bike (well 2nd hand), a 24seven Slacker 2011, which has had Clarks Special Edition Brakes fitted! :D

The bike came with only the rear brake fitted, and he just gave me the front brake. The problem is that I assume that the front brake has been squeezed with no rotor in it, so this has made the gap between the pads too small for the rotor to now fit in!

I have looked at Clarks instructions for a very similar brake (they don't have instructions for the exact same brake), and it says :

"As the disc pads are self adjusting, do not pull the brake lever before it is fully assembled with rotor. Pulling on brake lever without the rotor in, makes the gap between disc pads smaller and will prevent the disc rotor being fitted, always use the 'spacer' inserted between the pads to push them back to their original postions"

I have found the pad spacer : http://www.clarkscycles.com/index.php/html/product/pagetype/aftermarket/id/120010053-pad-spacer

But I can't find any information about it (eg thickness, etc) and I can't find anyone selling it!

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix it?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks and ATB

  8. Depends what frame. If your running 80mm i doubt you would notice much difference.

Custom Frame, with the following Geo probably :

Head Angle: 72 degrees once forks have sagged

    Chainstays: 365mm

BB Rise: +25mm once forks have sagged

    Seat Angle: 72 degrees

Reach (from center of top of head tube to center of bb): 660mm

    What do you think?

In terms of performance, would 80mm and 100mm be the same or similar?

    Thanks and ATB

    James

  9. All the parts should fit fine. You won't need to use a spacer but you might want to get a bashring

    Thanks Milo!

I did have a quick look at Bash Rings, but I couldn't find one to fit a 22T sprocket?!

What is the advantage of using a BashRing?

    Thanks and ATB

  10. Hi Guys,

I am thinking of getting the following parts for the Custom 24" DJ/Street/Trials bike I am building :

    Trialtech 170mm ISIS Cranks : http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/cranks_pair/trialtech_sport_forged/c514p10467.html

    Trialtech 22T Screw on Sprocket : http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/screw_on_sprockets/trialtech_sport_screw_on/c73p10409.html

Neon ISIS Bottom Bracket : http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/isis_splined_bbs/neon_isis_with_bolts/c2p10840.html

Does anyone know if these parts will fit together fine? Will I need to use a sprocket spacer?

Also, what are the above parts like? Would they be ideal for what I want?

    Thanks and ATB

  11. Hi Guys,

I am making a custom bike which will be used for Dirt Jumping, Street Riding and Trials.

The problem is that I need a Gear Ratio which will suit all the above types of riding. I don't know if it is even possible?

The bike will be mainly used for Street and Trials.

I find the gearing on my Monty 221 Pr too light for general riding, it only seems ideal for trials - anything else just seems unideal.

I was wondering what you guys would advise? Ideally I am looking for a gearing ratio which would allow me to do Trials, but would also allow me to ride Street.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks and ATB

  12. Probably about 180mm. Basically you add up the headtube length, plus the stack height of the headset (approx 12-15mm for most normal headsets) and the height of any spacers you want to use, plus the height of the stem. That total needs to be 3-4mm more than the steerer length.

Second hand forks are worth less if the steerer is less than 200mm.

    Thanks Tomm.

I have seen most stems that I am looking at are around 50mm, so that's 160mm + stack height of the headset and spacers.

    Just say 175mm + Spacers.

Is there anyway way to work out how many spacers I will want?

    Thanks and ATB

  13. Hi Guys,

I am after a little advice/opinions on what colour scheme I should go for :

    Option 1 :

    Blue Frame

    White Forks with Black Stantions

    White Seat

    White Handlebars

    Black Stem

    Black Grips

    Black Wheels (Rims, Hubs, Spokes)

    Black Cranks

    White Pedals

Similar to the attached picture - Just a few different coloured parts (Probably a slightly lighter blue)

    Option 2 :

    Grey Frame (This colour : http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/574/imagen067i.jpg )

    White Forks with Black Stantions

    White Seat

    White Handlebars

    Black Stem

    Black Grips

    Black Wheels (Rims, Hubs, Spokes)

    Black Cranks

    White Pedals

    Option 3 :

    White Frame

    White Forks with Black Stantions

    Black Seat

    White Handlebars

    Black Stem

    Black Grips

    Black Wheels (Rims, Hubs, Spokes)

    Black Cranks

    White or Black Pedals?

    Option 4 :

    Green Frame

    White Forks with Black Stantions

    White Seat

    White Handlebars

    Black Stem

    Black Drips

    Black Wheels (Rims, Hubs, Spokes)
