  1. Yeah sort of, its not super bad, just like it could do with being smoothed off a bit, im not sure how much these frames are new but i got mine for £130 so a few rough edges is nothing to complain of.

The only thing i would say is that there was a line running accross the BB shell threads so the BB doesnt seem to screw in very smoothly. Apart from that its all good.

  2. Yeah they are great hubs, i think ive had mine since 2002, all ive ever had to do is clean and grease it once. Once you get used to the engagement you never want to go back to a standard hub!

I would say that as there are a lot of other good hubs around now that are cheaper then the King, (whereas when i bought it, it was pretty much King or Hope) it is probably not as good value as it used to be, but if i had the choice i would still buy one today :)

  3. Forgot to ask what the finish was like on the frame?

    Geo is roughly:

    Top tube - 22.5inch

    Seat tube - 8.5inch

    Chainstays - 15.5inch

BB hight is 14inch from ground

Not sure about the headtube angle, i would guess its the same a a zebdi, which if my memory is correct, was about 74degrees.

I sprayed the frame myself and it came out OK :) The original paint job was very well finished but i didnt like the colour so it had to go!

  4. I did this thinking that the old cog didnt seem that bad but had the exact same problem. Had to go and buy a new cassette to sort it.

If you have another cog to try see if that runs, if thats fine then the other one must be worn.

  5. Running a grind. Might be smart to give a clean though. What's the best thing to clean it with? Rubbing alcohol?

Sort of depends how dirty it is. Last time i cleaned mine i just wetted a bit of kitchen roll with water and rubbed the rim surfice to clean the dust off. This did the trick.

Other than that any grease removal product should do a decent job, just make sure you clean it off the rim after.

I dont have a grind though, that wire brush idea seemed to make sense so maybe give that a try.

  6. Do mavic still make those rims in that lush grey colour? I still got an old mavic 521 cd on red hope mono at home, want another one to match it

    Sure do:

    Love that colour

Its Ford marine blue i think, cant be sure without a trip to halfords lol!

think it'd look better with a proper seat though

Yeah it would look cool but i think i would miss the extra clearance of the mini seat.

You're levers look really far round!

ps. where is that spot, looks great

Yeah everyone says that when they ride my bike, maybe i have weird gorilla hands or something.

Its on the seafront at Lowestoft, theres loads of rocks there and they get madder as you go down (Y)

    Thanks for the comments :)

  7. Ultimate arms, sd7 lever, random cable and old plaz CRVs. Taht's the setup Beau used and that was crazy. Would even hold and bite for that big b*****d! :P

Im running crv's too, cant fault them, theyre nice and sharp and hold really well, so long as its not wet.

I noticed my rear brake was slipping today. ( my front always slips lol) So do you reccomend getting a booster? My frame is a Zhi ZM2 if that helps. Probably go for a light booster as my bike is already heavy enough. lol

Depends, does your lever feel spongy? If not maybe its the pads?

Im currently running Deore vees front and rear, XT levers and clarkes cables (althouth i would have got XTR if i could at the time). All weather pads on front, crv on rear. Ive never felt the need to have a booster, so long as you have decent pads set up well it should be fine (Y)

  8. These are just a couple of pics of the Marino frame i bought from ZeroMatt.

The frame is simular to a zebdi geometry but its a little bit shorter. I havent got the measurements but can post them if anyone wants to know:

    :P

Sorry to hear about the brake mate, did you have any luck getting replacement bits? Sorry i was no help but i only had mags once and sold them on.

If you can get someone to bleed them, you could run the front lever upside down on the other side of the bars so you still have the rear brake.

You better be riding this Saturday! lol!
