I used to use tar all the time with my hs33's! We just used to spin the wheel quick and put a light line around the rim! Used to last ages to!
-
Old skool stock for the win! I had a go on my mates MOD, and it was good, but think overall it was a bit to small for me to ride! As someone said above, try one!

http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=10463&category_id=100 Something like this suitable? Cheers very much for the help

Not sure what ISI or taper means And Ive got a set of old fsa power pros with a 22t chain ring!
-
Ive just bought an Ashton Justice from another member on here. It however doesnt come with a bottom bracket, and despite looking through the BB thread, I cant make no sence of it at all!!! Anyone able to recommend a bracket that would be suitable? After something cheap as im on a budget!
-
Cheers a lot Alex! Appreciate that

Si I bought one of these kits, and it turned up today (with a free bag of sweets)! So heres the next stupid question Where do I put the sprocket? Is there a certain place on the freewheel I need to put it, ie. where 3rd gear would be etc... or does it not matter?
-
Screws....? lol
-
How about that for a quick reply! Cheers chaps So I guess that goes on the rear hub? Sorry about the stupid question, kinda new to this!
-
As title says really. I've recently aquired some FSA cranks with a 22t chain ring thing I've bought a wheel from a member on here which has a hope hub including the freewheel for a cassette... Is it possible for me to go singlespeed, and if so what will it include buying? Bruce

use some chemical on a rag! If you havent got any white spirit use petrol!
-
I wouldnt say im an old git in the grand scheme of things, but when you come back to something you used to know and love after a long break it seems as if you way out of date! Which I am! Hence the totally noob questions!
-
It suits my extremly long arms! They drag the floor when I walk!!! But on another note... yes.... that was meant to read 90mm! At the moment just a cheapy set of bars with a small rise... And its a Club roost Xp! I bought the stem anyways, and if its not good its not the end of the world as it was only a tenner! I just wasnt sure if the trials based frames are shorted than an average frame, say an XC bike for example!
-
There was a great vid posted the other day in a thread called something along the lines of 'how can I make a good trials video' or something like that! Have a look on there and watch the video! And most importantly keep at it! Your get it in the end!!!
-
90cm long, with a 5 degree rise... And im learning trials again after a loooooong break! Also riding a 26'' Club roost XP! Just wondering if short stems are still the way forward, or are the newer trials specific frames made shorter? Im completly useless with set up etc! I bought it anyways as it was only a tenner, so we shall see how I get on with it

Thought Id Best Come Say Hello Really.

Azonic DS1!!! Coooool! My mate used to ride a 14'' one! Welcome back! If it carrys on like this, the forums going to need an 'old fart' section! Can talk of days past, and drool over old skool trials frames! -
Think were getting to a stage in life when I go out on the lash, and actually feel old!!! Trying to claw back my youth any way I can! Ah ha!!! The bike im building for trials will always come in handy for riding back from the pub half cut to I guess.... Not that I've thought about it much!
-
Would I be silly to get one? Just liking the idea as it was what i had on my last bike! Will I be better off getting one a little longer, or are short stems still the way forward? bruce
-
Well I had mine when I was 14-15, and im now 25! Mine was Boulder 500 in Navy blue with grey tyres! There was also a Boulder 510, which im pretty sure was white, yellow and blue! http://www.epinions.com/review/Giant_Boulder_1999/content_18829708932 Thats a link to some fella recomending a Giant Boulder back in 1999! So they've been making them for a good few years!!! As everything else does, im sure the frame have evolved over the years, so yours probably isnt as basic as mine was!
-
As stated above, you can ride trials on anything! I started out on a Giant Boulder 500 years ago! About 10 to be exact! It was fine for gettting the basics, then I moved onto a DDG Shooter which was still pretty reasonable! Good to see your giving it a shot, and not just moaning you cant do it because of the bike! Other than a few words of encouragment, Im affraid I cant be of much more use!

A full mod for £56!! Bloody bargain! The last trials bike I had was an old Monty with some crazy rigid triple clamp forks! Im still keeping an eye out on the bay for a full mod, as I wouldnt mind both to see which I prefer And yeah definitly game for a ride, although not sure how long it will take due to immonent baby! lol
-
Hey Dunstan! Its crazy how far things have come along! Been drooling over all the old skool trials frames that have been on ebay lately! Im getting there with the build, and so far its only cost me £41! Building the bike as cheap as possible, just incase I cantr find time for it or whatever once baby comes along Good luck on you build!
-
As thread and title suggests really! Im after something cheap and cheerfull, but not sure what width I require? Anyone able to shed some light? Bruce
