  2. Hey,

I don't live in a gang area but it is a rough estate and I'm only 15 and i have been mugged.

Seriously carry a pen knife, is that guy like 8 or something??

JD got the idea just act normal don't give them any reason to "shank you up" and don't be scared jsut but confident but not cocky with them.

I know i am 15 but i know just what its like to be mugged and even being pulled off my bike. It's not good at all so just ... don't give anyone a reason to think of mugging or attacking you.

Or just avoid the area when possible but don't pussy foot around not going somewhere you need to because of it.

Sorry if it's abit undermiming or something because I'm 15, but hope it helped.

    Cheers

    Hello everybody :)

Im david , I am 22 and i live on Hayling Island just off portsmouth and Isle Of White .

I dont have a bike at the moment but i am thinking of purchasing one soon when i can get a job been as i am redundant (N)

I want to try out this sport as i think i may have seen some people off this forum playing on the rocks down the front ?

But moving on , I am redundant at the moment and currently 'job hunting' i like to play football and cricket , i also like to clean boats down the marina for my enjoyment :)

My nickname is 'JL' because on my 18th i got dared to lick a condom filled with lots of junk n sickly stuff so they call me 'Jonny Licker' .

    Nice talking,

    David ( JL !)

    LOVE IT!! JL...

  4. Off topic but are you from stockport or just around there?

I live in Chapel en le Frith which is bout 20 mins away if you've heard of it?

There's nothing to stop you taking a bike on the train as far as I'm aware as long as it has a carriage (spelling?) for luggage and bikes.

As for riding spots near stockport the only one I know is in New Mills down by the river called The Torrs, where an old mill used to be, some alright spots down there!

Yeah i live in stockport and i heard of it but never been, and not sure about where the mill used to be??

  5. Cheers guys,

All these posts are really helpful yeah i get what you all mean about just enjoying my riding...

    Thanks

and about the rides from this webbsite is there generally any rides not too far from stockport and if they are further away what does everyone do about travel because whe i have tried the bus and train companies go all funny about my taking my bike on.

Erm... these pointers are realy helping thanks, And i agree i need to just take my time i can gap the length of my bike as i mentiond befor but its pretty sketchy, so guess i will just keep trying that distance and not worry bout it.

Th second video posted really helped and showed me to take my time thanks.

"Dannytrialskid" when you say extend your legs in the air do you mean a second time after leaving the ground, just sounded odd or did you mean just extend legs further from initial hop??

    Cheers,

  6. Hey people,

I have just learnt how to pedal kick and have got it down quite well now, but now i want to learn gaps.

I can rest front wheel on a curb then hop to back wheel and pedal kick the length from ront wheel to back ish.

I was wondering if anyone can post maybe a video or info or advise or anything really to help me learn how to gap bigger distance from pedal kicks.

It's really frustraing me so any help at all would be great!!

I was told to dip from front lower to get further distance but when i tried this i just found it alot harder to pedal kick at all. Is this advide right or wrong??

Please post anything which might help in the slightest

    Cheers,

    Onzajorge

  7. Those videos are kind of old; the frame geometry differs a lot these days. I'm currently riding an Onza blade mod and I could have take a video of me pedal kicking on my cell phone this evening, if I'm going out. I will send you a PM as soon as it's done. Maybe it's gonna help.

cheers pal that would be great :D

  8. hi welcome to the forum :D

sounds like you haven't completly mastered balancing on the back wheel yet. if you cannot hop on the spot with out going back ward or dropping the front wheel.

i would have to say you haven't quite got the balance point yet.

this may help possibly if you try pausing inbetween hops to figure your balance point. this will be the point where to feel you are not having to lean back and pull on the bars to lift the front and you are also not pivoting backward over the back wheel.

once you have this dialled. you could experiment with lowering your centre of gravity. by lowering your hips( or bum) at the same time as the front wheel. do this by sticking your bum back and at the same time extending your arms forward.

once you can lower your centre of gravity. then try lifting it back up from where you started.

so thats in order: bring your bike to the back wheel (however you like). hop, then pause, then lower your self to the ground front wheel and your hips, then lift back up and hop.( it should be very similar to a slow hop.

what your trying to do is lower your centre of gravity then lift it really quickly. thats what will give you your upward motion.

once you dial this then with the pedal kick and a little extra leaning forward you will find lurching forward much more fun :D

sorry for drowning you with an essay :D have fun riding and remember to ride for your self not to impress others and you should really have fun

Ahha. Don't worry about the essay, as long as it helps i dont mind. Which it does, i am getting the hang of pedal kicks but haven't got the distance yet. I watch alot of trials video's and when setting up for gap or just to manouver round (particularly Danny Macaskill) just hops on back wheel and rotates just to strighten up, or to turn and drop off say a wall...

This is what i am having trouble with, just hopping on the spot.

This advise did help but i am still unsure i still seem to move although not as much and then i have just tried moving my centre of gravity like you said and then i just dropped the front or flipped the back. I then went back to the previous balance and the same happened.

Is this just practice to get it right or is there anythin g else which can help me find the centre of gravity??

Also i was wondering i am 15, and about 5ft 6"... I have an Onza Pro 20" and its my first trials bike and was wondering if this is about right for my size (i have been told its quite important getting the right size bike)

    cheers

  9. It's all about working your body out. Leaning your front wheel forward will let you make the gap distance longer.

Been trying that but i seem to just dip my front and hit floor again, do i just need to get my balance sorted better to solve this??

Do you mean dip front wheel closer to floor before you pedal kick??

Really helpful btw pal. Cheers but i cant personal convo yet lol :(

    Cheers wb

  10. to control direction you need to learn to pedal kick as its difficult just hoping on back wheel ill send a link

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cuo7BslZXz8

hopefully this will help...get on your back wheel , let go of brake, kickand hop pull brake and repeat :)

    Hey liam,

thats really helpful can do it now but on like 3hops and move bout half a metre forward. LOL With practice should get there though.

That was a lot of help cheers.

  11. Hey,,

I am really struggling... i have quite good balance and have master hopping on back wheel but i always end up hopping backwards and if i just lean forward i jsu tdrop my front wheel again.

How can i control my direction??

    cheers

  12. Brakes - Binding in what way? Are they rubbing etc? How do you know it is the lever set-up at fault?

Front wheel bearings - If unsealed hub then make sure the cones are done up against each other as detailed here

Very good bikes, especially at their price range. How long have you had the bike for dude? Sounds like you have a couple of small routine maintenance problems that all new bikes suffer. Things come loose, one of those things I'm afraid :)

If you need any help fixing the above, just describe exactly what's happening and we'll do our best..

    Alex

    Hey,

Cheers for the help. It's like rubbing constantley yeah... and then when i manage to sort it and it doesn't bind then i cant get my lever set up right the way i want it. When i fix the binding theres just way too much play in leveres and they are on the bars before working!!and ok cheers, i haVE HAD A LOOK AT CONES BUT NOT IN DETAIL SO WILL CHECK IT out again, and i have had my bike about 2-3months now...

    Cheers please write back.

  13. Hey people,

I am having some trouble with my 20" Onza Pro. The front and back brake discs are binding and can only be sorted if i change the lever set up. Bit stuck with it. And also my front wheel bearings keep loosening after about 2hours of riding. Are Onza's known to be unreliable. Just so you know everything is still standard on the bike.

Just need to get a good set up,, its causing me some problems and causing my riding to be put on hold for a bit to be honest.

    Ant help is appreciated

    Cheers,

    Onza Jorge xx

  14. Hey,

well thanks for all the pointers... very helpful.

And i can balance really well because i also do trials on my motorbike... i can go i good 5mins before getting abit out of shape. :D erm... its more the technique of trials i am finding hard, i can hop around for 30-40 seconds or so on my back wheel but also find myself hopping backwards. Can't get the techniqoue to control where i am going on my back-end.

I have started to hop up walls and stuff but only 2-2 1/2 feet heigh or so.

Struggling to get better, have sort of hit a wall.

And i have an Onza Pro, but im having some problem with brakes (disk front and rear) and have some play in my front wheel bearings which keeps cropping up. Are Onza known for being a bit unreliable or is my technique taking its toll on my bike??

    Please write back.

    OnzaJorge ... :D

  15. hey,

    cheers

    OnzaJorge!! :D
