  1. Thanks for clearing that one up for me!
  2. Please do gun me down as required on this one! On the subject of the 20 vs 24 vs 26 debate, it sounds to me like a lot of people suggest a 24 as being the best compromise for a beginner.. but then again they're fairly rare and expensive, meaning that newcomers like me end up buying either a 20 or a 26. So... Why not buy a 26" bike, take off the wheels and fit it with 24" wheels? Then revert back to the 26s once you feel confident? The only issue I can see is with the brakes - the 26 frame will have brackets in the wrong place for 24inch rim-style (V-style?? pardon the amateur language) brakes. But what if you fitted disc brakes instead? OR is the reason no one does this because the frame is effectively 2inches longer than it should be so the geometry gets all screwed up? I know there MUST be a reason why this is a stupid proposition and no one does it (or has ever suggested it!), but what is it? Thanks
  3. Thanks! Look forward to exploring the rest of the forum and also finding myself a bike! PS. I like your profile pic!
  4. Not a single comment about this extraordinary coincidence and yet I've already been validated!? I was expecting at least a joke about being Polish! Jokes aside, thank you.. it means a lot!
  5. Been here for 2 years.. starting 3rd year in September.. living in Dunkirk at the moment.

Yeah, the tarty website is useful.. Adam's videos are very helpful.

Yep, looking forward to going on some rides and meeting other riders.. need to sort myself out with a bike first!

I'm sure I'll see you round once I get some practice :)

  6. Yes, I've been dreaming of getting into it for about 2 years now but found the idea of starting quite daunting - which bike, technique, how to learn on my own etc! But I found this forum a few months ago & have been keeping an eye on it, signed up yesterday.

Was born in London & lived in UK all my life.. both parents are Polish, thats why I speak it. Studying at Notts at th...

  7. Oh! Fair enough.. I was born in England too, but held onto the language. Poland is a very cool country!

Thanks for putting up those locations at Nottingham Uni campus on the map.. I live just next to the campus so will be trying them out once I get some experience :)

PS. 'Siema' is slang, a bit like 'Wassup'.. pronounced Sh-e-ma

  8. Siema :)

Polak w Nottingham ktory jezdzi na trial bike... looks like we have one or two things in common :)

  9. I know absolutely nothing about trial bikes (which is why I just signed up and glanced over this thread!) however, I can suggest you take a quick look at this video I found earlier on tartybikes.. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/media.php?group=guides&id=8 which explains it somewhat. The fella doesn't go into the extreme detail, but it gives a good overall picture for newbies. Lots of other interesting info in the other videos. I already know how to take a sprocket off a hub and I don't even have a bike yet!
  10. Hey! So, I'm yet another newbie and I've read the announcement, and the new member suggestion thread.. and I realise that it is ESSENTIAL to make a good first impression here, especially without making any spelling misstakes Seeing as I've just signed up, at 2.15am, I thought I'd put in a quick hello before I head off for the night.. and share with you something that just happened which I thought was pretty cool! You know the "verify you are in fact a human and not a computer" thingy you have to do when you're making your account? Well, my phrase was 'Clause Newrims'... Newrims!? As a total trial bike novice SURELY thats a good sign! I thought it was pretty damn cool! Anyway, looking forward to becoming a trial biker, acquiring/building a bike to learn on and meeting lots of cool new people. London based, studying in Nottingham, Polish by blood, semi-prof photographer, absolute petrolhead. Goodnight, good morning!
