  1. ive used tar before an put it on in a thin line around the rim spinning the wheel but i never liked it. pads stick to much
  2. thanks for all your reaplys. I wont cancel out not rim grinding again, but i will give it a go on smooths for a bit as soon as they wear in, which bring me to another question. how can i wear the brake pads in quicker, at the moment i have no bit an a small amount of hold, sloppy really.
  3. ye there the clear ones, i had a good medium grind left from my old rim i had and they worked fine an wear was ok, when my new wheel build arives today i think i will run a smooth rim no tar though, dont like the stuff. And i do hope the weather says fine its been sunny on for the past week an i was with out a bike But if it does ran i will be suck in i guess Thanks for the info
  4. What is the performance of a smooth rim like compeared to a medium grind ? Never riden smooth rim brfore. I dont use a brake booster and my pads are atoms if this helps.
  5. haha, i need to get some matblack spray paint really but it will do untill i get some
  6. forks are compleatly finished now Hope you like the job ive done need to work some more on my frame, just not sure about removing all the weld
  7. DC's are pretty cumfy and not to bad price wise either. My pair have lasted a wile now quite durable You could look down the route of skate shoes quite afew makes and designs out there VANS ETNIES AIRWALK Nike SP's To name a few

  11. forks are done, i think i could of done a better job of it but first time doing this so am happy with it. still haven removed more of the disc mount so more pictures tomorrow when done

  13. thanks, ye i was worryed about the weld spots, so i left them with a bit on, going to do the same for the last picture leave a small amount of weld on
  14. going to brake out my angle grinder for this bit tomorrow and neaten every thing up a bit what do you think of it so far ?
  15. i can imagine so, i need to buy a new file if am going to square the holes. sounds better than removing the walls.
  16. I like how you have made the holes in the frount of you frame looks great, also the square then circle in your rims. Getting a new back rim soon so i will be taking the innr wall out of it, if it goes well i will do it to the front. should i just cut right to the edge or not When you removed you bash plate mounts, did you leave the hole or cover it back up. how did you remove the hole thing i was planning to just take the barrel bit of an leave the small plate bit on. I will take some picture to show you what am removing. Then could you let me know how to remove each bit or its it as simple as marking it up an taking small bits of at a time. Thanks for your reply
  17. Hey I did think this through its not just post it up and not come back to it. Has anyone has took a hack saw or angle grinder to there bike an removed small part's of the bike, not just cutting it of an leaving it like that but taking your time planing how your going about it. An knowing its past its warraty before you go ahead. For example some frames, there's maggy mounts and disc mount's on some of then and you have never used a disc on the back, so you romove it. The same with fork's i swaped from maggys to disc, never used the rim mounts again. It can't be no different to a paint respray or rawing parts, it's still a personal mod not factory look to make it unique. This is what i would like to do an plan it out, not to lighten it but to make it look better as said above "unique". I have echo forks and dont like the tabs for the mount's after seeing my mate's disc only one's, but dont want to spash out on a new pair. Running a bash plate and bash ring on my onza blade, planing to remove the mounts for the bash plate. Just using the bash ring, not as aid to get up stuff. Am sure i read on hear quite a wile back about removing walls in rims to make them single walled, but thats is to do with saving weight. So my questions to you is have you done this before, know of anyone who has modded there bike mabey found a engineering place who are willing to do a professional job free of charge or for a small amount. last point and most importantly will it affect the strengh aslong as you do a good job of it If posible post some pictures up as i am intrested to see if it as been done an how it looks Dieter
  18. worked a treat. had to shorten my bolts down a bit, an braking is better then ever
  19. i didnt know they were angled, my mates wasnt? think i might to then, got no plastic clips for my brake. just going to have to let the pads wear to that angle. but thanks for the info might run a disc if i get a new hub that has disc mount. glad to hear there strong though
  20. not to bad i could put up with afew if i were to dent it, am guessing the thin side walls was with grinding it.
  21. good goood, i will be getting round to it tomorrow Merry Christmas to the both of you
  22. different opinion there to echo on strenth, did it dent quite often? or only if you hit right on the edge of somethink from a drop or a gap ?
  23. cheers, thats what i like to here about it with it being a single wall rim didnt think i would be strong.
