  1. Thanks guys! I only checked it out the first three days I had it. I haven't had time. I need to get some warmer gear so I can at least go out every now and then this winter to get used to the bike. I picked up a road brother for it as well. Too good of a deal to pass up. I need warm road gear as well. Brothers! I wish it wasn't so cold out. I really want to get out there and start to practice. I only rode for maybe a practiced track stands and just riding the Meta around for half hour a day for the first three days, but on the third day I was able to hold balance much more than the first. It is still pretty bad, but I definitely saw an improvement which was pretty neat.
  2. Yeah, around the dropouts, once the nut is tightened some white has flaked off, but that seems pretty normal where a nut is being tightened against the frame. There were two very small chips out of the white on the rear triangle, but I figure, its going to get scratched eventually and I can always get another frame. I keep telling myself it's not going to be perfect....its a damn bike! It is meant to ride.
  3. Thanks for the photo. Fun little fact: I emailed Meta directly the other day asking about production runs of the VTT2 frame. Jon at Meta confirmed that they are not making them anymore and that the white is the rarest color of the three. There were only 10 white frames made with about 50 each of the orange and blue. That's pretty rare...i'm tempted to not run it...almost I wouldn't mind picking up an orange frame to have as a spare either.
  4. I had disc on my mtn bike so figured i'd check it out here too. I've heard of some holding issues so I figured I would see how they go once bedded in and if the rear doesn't grip well, I have a HS33 on its way to me to swap it with. Got a photo of another bike with a higher front end like is being recommended? So I can see the difference.
  5. Just finished my first bike build (few threads down). The headset and bottom bracket was pressed already and the wheels were built, but I did everything else. It wasn't hard. Just take your time. For inspiration watch videos on youtube, pick up some dvds, join forums , etc. I find talking about it, reading about it, and seeing it makes me want to do it. I purchased all my stuff from CBTrials. Chris was very helpful and knew his stuff. I also have an order from Webcyclery on it's way to me.
  6. Yep, they are the Echo SL wheelset front and rear. Gearing is 18/15.
  7. Thanks for the clarification. Not knowing this at the time sucks, for the fact the fork is now cut. Only thing I could do is move the smaller top spacer under the stem. The nice thing is the Echo fork is relatively cheap, so i could pick up another one as well as some spacers and play around with the height.
  8. So got word the bike should be arriving tomorrow, which would be awesome! I also just ordered some other parts from Webcyclery! I am building the bike up with discs both front and rear, but decided I wanted to be able to try a rear HS33 to see which I like more. I might pick up another rim too if I decide not to grind the one i'll have on the bike. This way I can rock either disc or HS33 in the rear. I ordered: -Magura HS33 in black -Echo SL 4 bolt mount in black -Echo Urban 4 bolt Booster -Mastering the Art of Trials DVD to watch over this winter while I practice trackstands I can't imagine i'll outgrow this bike anytime soon. I can't wait to get it and start. I will have some questions as I go and will post them with photos when I need help. Can somebody post a photo of how a snail chain tensioner is installed. That is really the only thing I can't understand right now. Do I need it, or should I try running without one first?
  9. What's going on all, new guy here. 27 years old from the states. Just getting my first trials bike. Looks like a lot of fun to be had! Made a post that you can check out that i'll be posting up my complete build as I go once everything arrives. Thanks http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=158838
  10. His videos are what made me want to get a trials bike. He makes everything look effortless! I hope I can get to at least 10% of his level. Truely an inspiring rider! I can watch those videos over and over again.
  11. I've been interested in motorcycle trials as well, but seeing as i'm just getting into bike trials I figure I would see how I like it first before I considered picking one up. The problem is where I live there really isn't much in the way of places for motorcycle trials to take place. I'd love to go watch them sometime!
  12. Hi all! I'm new here and to trials in general. I'm 27 years old and live in the US and just ordered parts for a complete build from Chris at CBTrials.com. Everything is supposed to ship today and I hope to have it all very soon. I've done a bit of road biking and some very beginner friendly mountain biking, but since selling those i've missed riding. I've always thought trials riding and bikes looked like a blast so I decided to take the plunge finally. What a better Christmas present to myself than a new bike! I wanted to do it right the first time so I opted for a more expensive build up. I was luckily able to find a shop that still had a Meta VTT2 frame available and I was quick to scoop it up. They seem to be hard to find. I'm doing a dual disc, 26" stock build. I absolutely love the Meta frames. They look so great! Once all the parts arrive I plan to document my first trials build. I am able to do HD Video and photos (i'm a photographer of sorts) so maybe i'll do a time lapse. Please stay tuned for the upcoming build. I am very excited to be able to finally try my hand at trials. I literally am totally new to this so I might be really bad for a while. Thanks! UPDATE 12/1/2010: I got the bike from Chris today. He had pressed the headset and bottom bracket in for me and the Echo wheelset came prebuilt. Everything else was up to me. It took me all night and a bit of bood and sweat but it is finished and I think it looks amazing! Only thing I have to say: Its white baby!!!! I love the f'in white frame!!! :naughty: Bike looks sick! Love the color combo as well! I was having a pain in the ass with the snail tensioner and trying to figure out how to do it. I'd think I had it, push the pedal while applying brake and the f**kin' chain would be loose! Finally got it and went outside for 10 minutes and did "trials", and by trials I mean looked like a douche in the middle of the road at 12am trying to trackstand for more than 1/2 a second and bunnyhopping about 12 inches. Yep, i'm hardcore. It is much harder than it looks. On a good note I took some quick photos so you can see it in it's glory! I absolutely love it! Let me know what you think. Only thing I have to figure out is the front disc, if I push hard with my left foot foward the disc hits something. Has to be an alignment issue, cause it doesn't do it when I do the same with my right foot. Now to practice trackstands for the next year. Lets see how long it takes. *Don't forget, this is my first bike build ever! I literally went into this not fully understanding a few things and having to watch youtube or search the interwebs to figure out how to do some stuff. Chris even tossesd in a couple T-shirts and I can't wait to wear them. I highly recommend him. What I had so far before I decided to chill out and take a few shots. Ok, how about some mashed potatos, chicken, gravy, chocolate goldfish, and orange soda to round out the night. Oh, look at me, the cranks are on. After that I sort of forgot to take photos and just went gung ho on this bitch and ta da...the final product! Don't worry the chain and tensioner are on there. I just took shots before I installed them. I should have my HS33, brake booster, mounts, and DVD tomorrow as well.
