Really unusal build! Look forward to get your feedback.

I built recently an Octane One Spark, with some BMX/trials parts on it.

The Spark is closer to a street/trial frame, because it is design to ride park. The bottom bracket is higher, the head angle steeper.

It is really nice on the front wheel and to spin. But it is quite heavy and short ... I put a longer stem (60mm instead of 50) and I am still a little disappointed with but it looks so sweet with the BMX cranks.

The fork is really heavy, I would like to find an alloy one (Inspired or an Echo).

The idea was to have a cheap bike that I can use in park, street/trials and on the pumptrack (but the plan did not go that well, I ended up buying a Hope Pro 4 hub :D).

Let me know how your Void ride!

It's definitely going to be an interesting one :L I did want to go to something longer wheelbase with a higher bb but trials frames are just getting pricier these days D: I wanted to go dual disc so this seemed the cheapest option that still had a threaded BB as I definitely didnt want the BMX cranks :L Its a shame trials forks dont have a slightly longer axle to crown on them but i'll see how it goes its just gonna be for a bit of fun to ride around and do a bit of trials on

  2. Got a little bit bored so I decided to go for something different. I did have an inspired a while ago but didnt fully get on with it but i managed to pick up an Octane One Void frame. I dont ride as much as i'd like to these days so just something to still have a bit of fun on but not 100% sure on geometry yet as im unfortunately isolating so cant get out and ride - _ -

  3. First bike was an Ashton Diamondback

Speedrace fans which eventually snapped at the chainstay....

Onza Genesis which later got rawed then cracked...

I miss riding the Limey 3 I think i was definitely at my peak of riding on this. Even though it was heavy it just

    easily chuckable across gaps

I later experimented with 20" and also built up what i thought would have been my dream build but weirdly didnt get on with it and kept getting faulty brakes - _ -

Sold the 20" which i regretted as i surprisingly got on quite well with it so i thought id get another but it didnt feel the same... and then another echo...

And now back onto an Ashton for nostalgia reasons and quite enjoying it even though its on the heavy side. Definitely been very indecisive over the years and should have just stuck to one bike... although i am contemplating one last bike then stopping there... hopefully...

Mega bump! how are you getting on with that mechanical disc up front?

Not really what i expected in the end. It did work pretty well but i thought it may eliminate flex but i've ended up going full hope now due to too much flex in the rear brake aswell. Was an interesting experiment but they just dont work well with v levers, they seem stiffer with road levers weirdly

  5. I kind of own one of my dream bikes but alternative the top 3 for me would be Chris Akriggs Mongoose. Didn't really enjoy riding an Inspired but that looks like loads of fun

2 Would be Monty Kamel 231 mostly because when i was younger i enjoyed watching Kenny Belaeys Big Time Trials m110.jpg.71e86b6d30f7d9f9263a8fae7211029a.jpg

Last one even though the seat is stupidly high in this image but ye ol' Cannondale CAAD3 as im a sucker for old school

    Ah, nice. In what way?

I just think its a good idea having a dual pull system so both pads hit at the same time rather than having a fixed side so you end up flexing the rotor. BB7s are great I must say but I suppose it could be a bit of trial and error. The trps come with organic pads so I should get a reasonable braking force (hopefully...)

Vee’s dont freeze. Neither do mechanical TRP brakes. Heard anything good about them? Not the conventional BB7.

I've had a few bikes come through work with them on and they seem to work great. If they can also make a sti levers feel nice they should do the job. They seem to have better pad adjustment than the BB7 so always worth a go. I've got a Box Components v caliper coming through aswell, I've always used xt in the past but heard good things about the box calipers

  8. Well seems i have issues with buying many bikes but finally something I feel at home with should have just stuck to my old Echo pure but this definitely feels like a solid build. Just gotta get riding more now

  9. I seem to have a hard time getting things right with setups/bikes... I rode 26" for most of the period of riding trials and tried out 20" which my riding seemed to be at its best at that time but stupidly a while ago I sold the 20" because I had been riding 26" longer and decided to keep it as its what i put the most time into. The issue with 26 was i spent loads of time trying to find the perfect geometry when i should have stuck and left the bike as it was which led to me not enjoying it as much.

I recently built an Inspired Hex thinking I would get on with it which I do and i have learnt certain things i didnt know i could do and has helped on the MTB side but I guess I prefer the more TGS and pure trials scene more. I have three things on my mind of getting a custom frame from marino, sell the Inspired and get an Echo 26" or sell the Inspired and get a Jitsie 20" which is similar geo to the Breath Yes I had... Not sure what the best option is some of it is swaying towards 20" but im 6ft3" so i'd need a 180mm stem but then another part is saying 26" and go front disc as i always preferred front disc on a stock...
