  1. what do you guys think of this? http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/7725987/?s6 he's quite near me and im confident i can get the price down a fair bit if i try would still blow the budget to bits though lol
  2. Im after a mod, been looking at bikes the likes of comps, t-mags, pros. Is there any perticular bike that would be well suited to my height, im 5'9" and just going to get into Trials so looking for cheapish secondhand, the trials is to learn skills to compliment my usual riding. 180's, hops, endo's stuff like that would be handy for me to learn.
  3. lol no worries, its a case of you snooze you loose, i ran out of credit half way through doing the deal lol
  4. awesome idea and piece on engineering but i cant help think it will be expensive, need to get its all faced with Hammerschmidt facing tools, need a hammerschmidt speciffic BB and so on, reckon the cost would come down a bit if more bikes were able to run it
  5. nice bikes the cubes, i had a Reaction pro, even though it was too big for me that thing could shift, i ended up buying a smaller Reaction RX frame off ebay for £120 with bars, stem, post, BB. It was a bargain, built it and rode it for a while then decided i wanted a Steel HT with long travel, quite miss the Cube
  6. Be careful if you choose to countersink. the cheap countersinks can chew stuff up pretty uneven, work light to try and keep it as round and smooth as posseble, take your time to get the best result
  7. i think the only way you can really do it is to centre punch the rim so you can use a tiny drill bit for the first pilot hole, then its a case of stepping up sizes without trying to jump up to too big a size at work. To punch try a sharp punch with little force so you have just enough for a small bit to catch, this way your not wellying the rim and denting it, will you countersink the rim when you are finnished?
  8. £300 all in, this one http://www.onza.com/v2/products/bikes/t-mag/t-mag.html how would you rate it against a Comp?
  9. Whats your oppinion of the Onza T-mag, 2010 one i think it is, chrome and blue. has H33s brake and Magura louise front disc. its hardly been used. Are they good? what other mods would you reccomend? my budget is £350 posted max! cheaper deals would be welcome im just after a half decent secondhand bike to get me started and practice my skills, i have other bikes for XC and more aggressive riding so this is what my cash gets spent on. cheers scott
  10. i was going to buy that one in the gumtree link but someone cut my grass lol
  11. happy days, cant beat a stuck nut or bolt to keep you entertained for a while, especially if they are rusty lol, the joys of mechanics
  12. the dude is sponsord by mongoose so even if it wasnt he would have to slap a sticker on it if he was making a vid, ive no idea what bike it is, im hardly qualified to state much about trials bikes
  13. this would be my first choice, any perticuler reason it wasnt working for you? you have to have the mole grips so tight its almost too hard to lock them up. My second choice would be to use a dremmel and cut a slot in it, make sure you wear eye protection as when those little discs shatter they explode! if you have the cash and cant be bothered sorting it then take it to an engineer, should only cost a few quid and they are less likey to make a dogs ear of it
  14. i use shimano AM41 http://www.noahsark.co.uk/shimano-am-41-shoe-p-5851.html got them for £65 from CRC last year, i couple them with Kona wah wah pedals, awesome grip! might use them when i get my mod to see what they are like, im just about to get my first trials bike
  15. chris akrigg's a good rider, loved his Spannish Hill video, he hurt him self pretty bad last year iirc
  16. aye i suppose it could work out prety expensive, ive got the new XT's on my ragley blue pig, awesome brakes for the size and pretty much just the same as SLX, only difference is the freestroke function on the XT but its next to useless, can get a full SLX hydro unit from Rose bikes for 65 euros, ive no idea the price of Magura though
  17. Ive noticed that most people tend to use Magura/hope hydros or cable for example, avid bb7. Howcome no one uses the likes of the new shimano SLX hydros?
  18. Does frilling, grinding and generally modifying rims not weaken them? or is there rims you can and cant do it to etc? im new so dont have a clue to be honest but my logic is telling me to be wary due to the stress and forces put on wheels, im looking for a mod to get in to trials so need to be a bit more clued up cheers scott
  19. HI Guys, this is me finally geting back round to looking for a Trials bike, Baby's take up alot of time lol, the rest is college, work and riding, just sold my DH rig so have space in the shed for a new toy time to take a look in the clasifieds
  20. no worries, i will practice when i get back out on the bike, thats us just home with the new born so it will be a couple of weeks before im back out i think, ive been watching chriss akrigg, that guys amazing! looks like stock it is!
  21. cheers guys, yup m bike is a hardtail its a cube reaction, any perticular basics i should be practising? track stands etc?, also do you think im right to stick with stock?
  22. Hi all, im looking to try out Trials, i normaly ride XC and love tackling mad drops and objects, not that im great or anything, i just find it fun. When i have seen guys hopping objects with ease ive always thought, wow i want to try that out, so the time has come! I would like advice on what to look for when buying second hand, im guessing this will give me "bang for buck" at the max considering my budget would be £250, ive spent way too much money on bikes this year and ive got a kid due any day so i dont even dare spend more! I would like to stick with stock as i want to keep the feel of my current bike without upsetting my balance too much. cheers scott
