  1. Hmmm...

    Mixed views, then.

I'd expect the hopes to be a lot better, because they're about double the price. And I've definitely seen hopes and echos all over the place.

Is there really no adjuster on the maggies, though? On their rim brakes they have them...

and if not on the lever, then on the caliper?

  2. I have an old Onza budgetbike. One of the ones with two 20" wheels.

I've had a lot of trouble trying to find a 20" tyre wider than 2.0"...

I'm running a BMX Holy Roller right now which gives close to no real grip.

Cannot wait to finish building my new mod. -.-

Does anyone know where I can buy a 20", 2.2-2.7" mod tyre?

  3. Stick em back on the bike and bed them in and you'll be in a much better position I'm sure. Which brake is it?

    Okay, will do. Thanks.

It's a Tektro Gemini. I don't think it's trials specific, but it's just to make my Onza Zoot look a little bit more interesting. Means I don't have to grind the rims, too.

  4. I recently bought a second-hand hydraulic disc brake (troll away).

I re-bled it earlier, and I've used industrial-strength wipes to take off some of the ick from the actual disc and the pads.

However, I did expect it to give a strong "bite" when I squeezed down hard on the lever, rather than taking another 5 inches to stop me.

It's like I've still got small pieces of residue on it from whatever the previous owner has been doing with it...

Any idiot-proof ways of getting the rest of the residue off? (That's what I think it is, I did take two hours to bleed the system as well as I could beforehand.)

I've been told that putting the relevant parts in a solution of white spirit will get rid of any oils?

  5. I usually have my front at around 35psi, and my rear at 20-25.

I don't usually use my front wheel for anything interesting, though so I guess that when I get more advanced, I'll reduce the pressure.

Oh, and my rear would be a little lower if it was a 19" rim, not a 20". Damn Onza budgetbikes.

  6. I have a problem whilst telling anybody what I was doing at the weekend.

I started off in texting by putting "trialsing", which sounded wrong.

"trialing" sounded just as bad, and it makes me sound like I'm making a person run around some circuit of death.

"riding trials" is a bit long, but sounds right.

"running trials" sounds a lot better, but again, it's a bit long.

Am I just overthinking this, or do other people have the same problem? blushing.gif

  7. yeah thats the place, ive never not been allowed my bike on a train, you have to reserve a bike space on virgin trains though

    Okay, that's great. Thanks.

I'm meeting with my friend tomorrow, so I'll post some dates at some time tomorrow. I'm on my post limit for today now anyway, but yeah.

    I'm glad I found some interest. :P
