  1. I am currently running an FE analysis of a rollcage but have hit a slight problem, i know where i want my load case to be but having some trouble defining the force required. the car weighs 200kg and the max speed is 50mph, but how do i know how long the crash will take during a crash into a solid wall ie rigid? it is a linear-static situation before you ask. i could assume it takes a 1/10 of a second, or half a second, but the difference in load case will be dramatic, so anykind of accurate ideas will be much appreciated cheers, ash
  2. Haha, and ash-kennard, he is the biggest dick that ever lived. Good luck with all that you do though. When I saw you on the DJ ride, you were riding really well, just keep you bike for the off chance the urge over powers you.
  3. Go to www.webcyclery.com for buying trials components in the US
  4. That was god like. Krisboats, I want your anal babies.
  5. I don't understand. Do elaborate. But replace shopping with hopping and your away .
  6. You can get the most power using the balls of your feet due to it having the most leverage. I personally don't really know, if I looked at my shoes i could tell, but I guess Revell pedals are big enough for me not to worry about foot positioning too much.
  7. The Avalanches - Frontier psychiatrist And your sorted.
  8. It should be fine, a decent gearing and good brakes and your away. It will not ride like any of the modern bikes, but will give you a good indication as to whether you are suited to the sport. This is how Trials started, people MODing their bikes for learning techniques ready to use in Motorbike Trials, this then caught on and Monty started making bikes specifically for Trials.
  9. I don't feel that this video is a fair test really. He obviously has the shock at quite a high pressure/tension and he isn't preloading any extra to riding a normal bike to make the shock work. If he were preloading for longer and allowing the suspension to actually be used then this could be a revelation within the trials community. if you look at the worlds best side hoppers you will notice how much they preload. Their tyres bottom out so they are nearly rimming on the floor, so if CLS or someone got hold of this, it would allow an even bigger explosion upwards due to the extra compression, allowing unthinkable side hop heights (In Theory).
  10. link Sign up, then just follow the instructions, its fairly simple. It is 100% free.
  11. link This is all you will ever need to know to get yourself side hopping. edit, For bigger side hops use Damon W's guide. "rite: get on backwheel sort your sen out, pull the bike higher then normal so its more vertical, and stall like that for as long as poss... then smash your pedals hard as u can!! and pull in with your arm then smash em out again (this'l cuase the bike the jump up) now think about tryin to smack your sen in the forhead with your forward legs knee (this will make your legs tuck upwards and to the side) rite pressuming ur not a weak lil weaner and ur up push the bike into a tilt and turn your front wheel ur up look at your m8s with a massive cheesy, then post £20 to me for tutoring you.."
  12. If you find someone from Cornwall, click in their profile and it will link to all the other members in their county, here i've done it for you. link
  13. It is indeed, I personally would try to aim with the centre of the front wheel to hit about 2-3 inches below the top corner whilst learning. I would also advise that you don't learn on a sloped wall, it is bad practice as you learn to rely on the bounce of the rear wheel hitting the slope to get you up rather than the bounce from the front tyre. It may seem scarier to learn on a vertical wall but if you find a wall about 36-38 to learn on you should learn it fairly quickly. edit, When learning use a wall that has something behind it, grass or whatever so you don't have to keep your front end up.
  14. Learning to side hop in both directions is a very helpful technique to learn indeed, in competitions, for example, you can then tackle sections that in a single direction would be very difficult, learning to ride switch so you can choose to use either foot is also another good thing to learn for the same reason as side hopping. Both are also good ways of killing time on street rides as they are both challenging and general good practice. Look at Chris Akrigg for an example of ambidextrous riding.
