  1. Given my username I'm kinda bound by ancient oaths to reply in this thread . As to actual advice - yeah , learn to overdo it and learn that you can safely bail then get a feel for where that tipping point is .

He can learn whatever he wants to in whatever order he wants to. He's riding for the fun of it ...

    ^

    Correct .

  2. Really cool ! Didn't know Jason Stathham was a director :giggle: . Clever cold opening with the lonely night street scene which goes into a diversity of people just havin' fun on bikes . I ain't gonna run out and buy an HTC , but always good to see Mr.Mucke , too !

  3. If those damned crate / boxes just had some rubber matting under 'em so they didn't slide it would have made a world of difference , surely he noticed they were loose during practice ( if any ) ? Is there any awareness of what trials is among the U.S general population ?It seems by all accounts a bike unfriendly country across all disciplines , let alone just general private use .

EDIT : Was it too much effort to clean that bike that will be filmed and broadcast under studio lighting in high definition - look at that dirty assed rear King hub .

  4. Really impressive as always and it's great to see he actually enjoys riding .Love the little correction " pops" he does upon landing like at 01:30 , looks so energetic . Heavily strapped / braced wrists  he O.K ?

  5. ...second hand bike market in the Netherlands ...

... 2nd hand market in the Netherlands ...

:D Choice aplenty actually ,up to and includin' full sus DH monsters (in the topographically flattest country in Europe ! :S ) but I really want a fully rigid bike with V's . I thought that my Cannondale , also secondhand from the same site would do the trick :

...but the blasted lockout still leaves ,like 5mm of motion which jars unpleasantly like bone scraping on bone and emits a smoothness killing thunk . You're right -the Speccy's spec :ermm: really is dated though having seen it in person,it really is in literally perfect condition though I declined the purchase . It's in my favour that I can wait a while as most buyers want sus , disc brakes etc so it'll be available for a while yet . Hmmm , First World problems ...

  6. First off - this general cycling sub forum is one of the best additions to our hallowed forum in years , good show mods ! My question -

I'm on the very brink of going ahead with buying a used bike and need your advice whether it's overpriced or not . It's this speccy m5 which I'm going to inspect / collect tonight . The ad's largely in Dutch but I guess you can make out most of the spec ?

King hubs & headset ,carbon fork ,XTR STI and v's , eggbeaters etc , seemingly in great condition . The fella wants 1100 € for it ( approx 994 quid. ) Hideously overpriced / reasonable / bargain ?

  7. Damn ! Having specced , bought and assembled my ideal back wheel :

...I'm back to the Onza rim 'cause the Trialtech just wouldn't play nice with my rear brake and needs constant retruing .

:( The new XT vees with cheapo clear pads are ridiculous , an inexpensive upgrade but makes a huge difference.

  8. ...tends to loose the setting after a bit...

Hmmm , what actually changes here - is this just normal pad wear and the cable settling or is it a radically different feel / effectiveness ? As to the actual hardware , the SD7s are highly regarded but certainly don't discount Shimano. The XT or even LX arms are superb .

  9. At the risk of sounding both old and elitist - horror is best when read since it's more psychological than visual except for cheap shocks and unexpected s**t jumpin' out at you .
