  1. Ah so it's your palms that are cracking not calluses :)

Is it an eczema or just very dry skin? Have you tried homeopathic remedies rather than medicinal ones? Look at essential oils that can be used to moisturise the skin.

I suffer from dry skin on my hands and get cracking between my fingers (nothing as bad as yours) and neutrogena norwegian formula cream is generally sufficient to recover them; however if they're bad enough to crack it normally takes 2-3 days of regular application.

edit: my stepson suffers from eczema and cannot use most soaps without a massive flair up. Any regular shampoo or bubble bath will cause him agony for 3 weeks. We use soaps/shampoos from faith in nature and they're very good, no sls or parabens and don't flair up Reuben's skin :)

its a strange one because my right hand is near enough fine but the left.. if i use say carex soap and dont put cream on after they just dry up within hours, its hard to always cream up though as it gets on everything as im sure you're aware :(

ill look up the shower gel shampoo :)

another bad one is lynx shower gel that destroys them

for anyone thats cares to the neon grips feel excellent and are what ill be sticking with :)

  2. Ha

ve you considered hand maintenance? Moisturise and cut back the thicker skin so it doesn't crack, use a pumice stone to grind the skin back until you have a callous pad left that isn't so thick it can't move so tears the skin around it.

I've found that it's far better to have a thin flexible pad than thick hard skin, it takes a bit of practise to get the right thickness as too thin you can tear the callous right off.

of course, ive lived with this for as long as i can remember, always had it..

been docs allot of times, and finally found a cream that seems to be doing the job, but all it takes is washing my hands with cheap soap/washing up liquid and they start to crack again, then if i go riding it just gets worse.

gone with neon foams and the jitsie gloves for when they are start to hurt :) its also not the callous thats the problem

this pic is 4 days no riding and the best they have been in a good few weeeks
